Thought for you from a Met fan

Mets Flexing some muscles this weekend.
Slapping the Braves on the face and showing them that last year was last year...
... and this year we are more prepared and ready for battle.

I said it many times and I will say it a million times more: This year feels so different and this team is special.

Let's Go Mets.
Team is so fun to watch. The additions at the deadline have been amazing. If the bullpen can hold their own, I feel good about making a deep postseason run. The Dodgers are a different animal, but with 48 & 21 on the bump, we can beat anyone.

Most fun I have had in decades.

Yes, the bullpen needs to improve. Hopefully Tyler Megill can transition there. He was arguably our best starter the first couple months of the season. If he can come in and throw the same type of stuff in the 7th/ 8th innings of ball games it would be a huge help.
Peterson will also be coming out of the bullpen but he looked so afraid in that Yankees game when he tried it for the first time. Hopefully he settles into a relief role of some sort cause he is not going to be a starter with the guys ahead of him.

Dodgers are always a different animal but always seem to find a way to fall flat on their face other than the weird 2020 shorten season.

But we shall see. As you say with deGrom and Max on the hill we can beat anyone. No one can compete with those guys when they are on their game. They just need to stay healthy and deGrom needs to build up his stamina by October.

Oh...

... and all those Braves fans who were posting in here the last few weeks seem really, really quiet right about now.

Interesting.🤔

The Braves are a very good team, but they strike out way too much. I know they hit a ton of homers, but any staff with elite strikeout stuff will expose them. The key is Acuna, he showed glimpses this series, but if he’s back to full health the Braves will be as dangerous as anyone.

Just seems so weird those fans were chirping in here uninvited , eagerly posting in a thread that has nothing to do with their team- when things are going well.
When the Mets beat their ****s they are quiet and nowhere to be found. Very odd.

Agree with your post for the most part about the Braves team though.
Although their strikeouts did not really surprise me as much as their defense and fundamentals. They looked really bad out there against us. Maybe the atmosphere of Citi and the nerves got to them? (Not sure.)

What has to be really concerning for Braves fans now is that Philly is hot and may leapfrog them if they keep up at this pace.

Injuries and great play by Atlanta has made things too close to call.
Kudos to the braves for staying hot and consistent.

Let's see how things end. Getting back Megill and Carrasco (back to form) will be crucial in this stretch run. And of course Mad Max.

Well then. Let's set up the scene.

Up one game in the standings after a nice emotional comeback against the Marlins. Big series in Atlanta that has some doubt due to hurricane remnants/tropical storm troubles.

We have our Aces ready to head into the battle and show the reigning World Series Champs their very best stuff. Would be nice to win the series but just getting one game gives us the huge tie breaker.

Most years in situations like this I would be nervous but this year seems very different (as I have been saying all year long like a broken record.)

May the best team win.

Let's Go Met!

To make things even more intriguing the Mets have called up the best prospect in all of baseball.

Let's see if the kid could help us get some extra- base hits. His swing is the best I have seen since Piazza's.

Max Scherzer has a 10-9 record with a 4 era vs the Braves in his career. I am not sure his signing is one you point to to rally the troops.
The guy actually had a good year against the Braves until this series where all the chips were on the line. Then he looked like typical Scherzer vs Atlanta.

All he did this weekend was show, at this point, the moment was a bit too big for him. 0-8 with 3 K's.

Should be the Mets regular Catcher next season and for years to come.

Corbin Caroll is the best prospect in baseball. Alvarez isn’t a good enough catcher to start at the big league level every day. He’s gonna have to play winter ball or do a ton of work to get ready for spring training.

Alvarez has got a great arm. Plus some speed. You're right though, his catching is suspect in terms of calling a game and blocking pitches in the dirt. Maybe use at DH? Guy looks to me like he could stand to lose some weight too. Very chunky build now, especially in his lower body.

He’s gotta DH for now. And then yes reshape his body and work on the rest. Good upside though. We all know catchers are worth their weight in gold, but I just don’t see him being the best prospect in the game. There are guys who will contribute faster and for much longer than he will. Caroll being one.
