This is sneaky great Transfer Portal Class

So neither Toure nor Bonner improved the Lb room ? Just Neutral?
You can’t be Serious.
*Martinez went what round? Fletcher doesn’t take a backseat to Martinez especially this in Shape version of Fletcher.

Brown gives you a lot of Martinez -minus 40+ Runs. But he may give you a lot of 25 to 30 yd Runs with this O-line & have a better yds Per Carry than he had at previous School.

Lofton + Brown + Pringle adds raw Talent versatility to the Backfield .

I know they have a projected 1st rounder at OT and then a former high 4 or 5 star at the other tackle spot (he has struggled at times I remember seeing)

No idea about the rest of their line. That’s likely the way to beat them.

Then their RB room is a 190 pound true freshman (absolute burner though) and a Jr with like 300 career yards. An injury or the freshman not being ready could really hurt them.
Their defense is going to be really good, best in the conference, definitely top 10 in the nation, their defensive line specifically might be the best in the nation, their secondary wasn’t that good last year though so I’m not sure how much they improve. They couldn’t run the ball well and they didn’t have a top wr last year, they’ve added star potential there with TJ Moore and some few others they feel reel good about, and entire offensive line returns even though they were bad last season.

I’d say they improve on the oline and at wr, defense being championship caliber.

Miami’s championship caliber offensive line, with a stable of talented backs, JoJo steps up as an elite playmaker, improved secondary, along with a very talented defensive front.

It should be a very good match up.

Nope, ours is better,

according to some.

Meh, he’s a tweener that insists on staying on the edge (allegedly) where he’s not athletic enough for the NFL. Teams don’t draft ends built like that.

If Clemson has 6, we have 2. If you’re going to say Clemson doesn’t have 6 (in the same exact mock that says Miami has 2) then I guess we’ll use the same perspective on Miami’s roster and assume we cut it in half because the guy writing the mock is an idiot. Or does Clemson actually have 3 and we have 5 because we’re Miami and cause Mario bro?

Miami before Mario and Mario himself have never had 2 first rounders in 1 year ever. So I doubt it happens in his first full recruiting class here.
Coaching Matters!!! They not inviting a kid to the combine as a Sophomore because in the words of Bud Kilmer, "his daddy was a no talent ***** but he tried hard" there are people who get paid alot of money to draft kids like Bain.

I mean the dolphins drafted Dion Jordan #3 overall for gods sake so I dont know how you can speak in guarantees.

Coaching matters and the coach has never had 2 draft picks in the round of the same draft. Thank you.

Dion Jordan was 6’7 250 and ran a 4.6 flat 40. They’re not the same situation at all.

I’m not speaking in absolutes. I think it’s an absolute, sure, but it’s my opinion on a message board. I think Bain is a good player. Probably more like a 3rd rounder. He will be another combine casualty when he measures below 6’3 and is heavy, because he is naturally heavy, and he runs a slow time in the 4.7-4.8 range. I can’t speak on arm length, that might save him or sink him. If they’re short, he’s probably in trouble.

In the last 10 years I can’t think of anyone drafted in the 1st round at DE sub 6’3 and 270+ aside from LJ Collier (major bust) and Solomon Thomas (bust).

Would love to be proven wrong. If he goes first round we probably have a **** good year on defense.

Definitely filled some holes, the most glaring being the most important position in sports (QB) and the worst secondary I've ever seen. Replacing Cam with a complete equivalent was never an option, nor would it have been for any program in America, but we got a pretty good fill-in.

And the secondary has been completely flipped.

I wanted an All-American at every single position too, but I think we've got plenty of talent here, and as I mentioned, when 2024 ended, BY FAR the two biggest question marks were:

1. Who is going to play QB in 2025?
2. How quickly can we execute every single member of the secondary not named OJ Frederique and replace them with essentially any other human on earth?

IMO we answered both of those about as well as we could've possibly hoped.

I'd give this portal class a B+. Hinging obviously on Beck's health. Would have liked to have gotten Hausly, but the secondary was definitely retooled. Still missed on a true #1 WR, Impact LB, and DT depth.

I believe that Lewis is a much better DT coach than Big Joe. So, I think we'll see a jump from our DT room this coming year.

I think it’s rough that we’ve had such a good portal class and yet still have holes in the roster in year 4

We got anywhere from 12-15 starter types in the portal that’s borderline rebuild territory. Had hoped Mario’s recruiting prowess would have mitigated this but it hasn’t yet

I count 2-3 kids on offense who will start via the portal (Beck, Brockermeyer, maybe Daniels).

I count 3 kids on defense who will start via the portal (Poyser, Lucas, Thomas). Maybe Scott in the slot? The entire front 7 should be HS recruits.

His coach is a NFL HOFer who has major NFL influence which also matters. As a person who has been drafted before in a sport, I can tell you they evaluate you on your character and coaching ability more than talent. If you can play you can play but if I can’t guide or you’re not receptive to coaching they will pass.

This is the first full recruiting class draft so it will speak volumes on our progression. I think you are speaking in matter of facts as if you know he won’t be a first rounder, saying he is to short, to slow and not good enough.

I will say this, no regular 18 year old human being hip tossing a grown man over 300 pounds like that and just be a decent player. He is a lot stronger and better than you think.

It’s a weird hill to die on in the late spring.

Not an agenda post

Potential starters (skewed because there’s perhaps multiple potential starters for one position say linebacker for example)

Toure
Marion
Auburn
Beck
Bauman
Brockermeyer
Lucas
Brantley
Poyser
Blay
O’Conner
Daniels

Indeed. He's had a lot of turnover on the defensive staff. I believe that's played a role in the positions not being where they should be.

I think the only locks on this list are Beck, Brockermeyer, Lucas, and Poyser.

Auburn not withstanding, he's going to start but he's a kicker and they're not real people. (This is said in jest...they're not, but I cry nightly thinking about how much we're going to miss Borregales).

I think if every single one of those kids start...like if Marion AND Daniels are playing almost every snap, then our WR recruiting failed.

Blay will be part of a rotation. Toure I have absolutely no idea, I'm not counting on him for a single thing this year. ACLs are usually 2 year injuries in college (see: Arroyo, Elijah). Bauman isn't going to be a full-time player.

I think we shored up some spots (QB, DB), with sure-fire starters. And we're supplementing other spots (WR, LB, DT) with additional pieces who will play a lot, which is how the portal should probably work.
