NFL HOF’er does not have any relevance to coaching ability and honestly JT has more to prove as a coach than anyone on the staff right now.His coach is a NFL HOFer who has major NFL influence which also matters. As a person who has been drafted before in a sport, I can tell you they evaluate you on your character and coaching ability more than talent. If you can play you can play but if I can’t guide or you’re not receptive to coaching they will pass.
This is the first full recruiting class draft so it will speak volumes on our progression. I think you are speaking in matter of facts as if you know he won’t be a first rounder, saying he is to short, to slow and not good enough.
I will say this, no regular 18 year old human being hip tossing a grown man over 300 pounds like that and just be a decent player. He is a lot stronger and better than you think.
It’s a weird hill to die on in the late spring.
JT’s only draft pick in 2 years as a coach is Tyler Baron, who was projected 2 rounds higher than he ended up going before he came to Miami.
Im not dying on any hill. If Bain comes out wrecking people and looks like a different dude, I’ll tell you and I’ll change my tune and eat crow. I’ve done it many times on things I’ve been more adamant about. I saw him in 2024 and I saw him this spring. He lost weight but he still doesn’t really move like a 1st round DE. Hes strong as ****, but that’s entirely negated in the NFL when every OL in the league is stronger than he is and weighs 45-75 more pounds. I promise he isn’t lifting an NFL OT off the ground like he did against Clemson.
I’m not being THAT critical and you’re overreacting to my comment. I just said in D$ post that he probably starts on every team in America or at least 60 of the 65 P4 teams, comfortably.
He missed his window to be a full time 3T and that was his only path to be a 1st round pick…. In my humble opinion, of course. He can produce all he wants, talent and production aren’t the question. The league moves further from tweeners every year and he’s at the position that values traits more than production than any other position. He’s not going to test like Shemar Stewart, but he will have more sacks in the first 6 games of 2025 than Stewart had in his career.
