This GIF says it all

Unfortunately you are right about this generation.... it is a me, me, me obsession.

I observe at youth basketball tournaments since my son plays in the league. Teams lose by 15 and all these kids are interested in, is running to check their individual scoring stats and their highlight clips...
It’s awful. It makes me wish I grew up in a different era

See, this is that bullsh!t I talk about.

This is that "fun boy" ****.

The fvck are you doing taking goofy *** pictures while you're still down to Virginia?! You should be ****ed off that you're even in a dog fight with Virginia. Too ****ed off to take fun pictures.

And WTF are the pictures for anyway? You going to save them, and reminisce about the night you lost to Virginia?

I can't say this enthusiastically enough...

bUT tHEyrE jUST kIDs!!

If TVD was your kid, would you want a copy of that picture?
Is this the biggest problem from last night?
Is it even in the top 10?
Does it take focus away from the real problem?
Sometimes things aren't necessarily "problems" but ARE indicators of much much larger institutional rot. This in itself ain't why we are where we are and if we got rid of the jewelry and told the players to knock off the sideline shenanigans it wouldn't actually change anything but it all IS a byproduct of a massive cultural issue that we obviously have.

The problem with the flashy jewelry and the sideline celebration by today's Canes is that they are doing it while being failures on the field. Yesteryears Canes could pull this off because they had the confidence and the ability to knock opponents on their *** and back up the swag. Nobody fears this group. UVA came into Hard Rock and put their feet all up on our furniture and helped themselves to the food in our fridge.

It really is time to grow up and retire these sideline antics. Besides being the national medias' running punchline, we are **ahem**:

0-1 in the coastal, 2-3 overall.
93rd in PPG
80th in YPG
87th in Rushing Yards Per
57th in Passing Yards Per
108th in Sacks allowed Per
96th in Opp. PPG
78th in Red Zone PPG
90th in Opp. YPG
125th in Opp. Third Down Conversions
100th in Opp. First downs PG
79th in Opp Rushing YPG
101st in Opp. Passing YPG
69th in Defense Sacks per game
78th in interceptions thrown
106th and 109th in team penalties and penalty yards PG

This is a legitimate question: What...in thee ****...are we celebrating?

To the casual fan that might not delve into the numbers all that much the record that we have is terrible, right? If you are stat junkie and you like to look at numbers (I am a statistician by education and trade), it is a far more unsettling sight to see. Forget great, we are not even close to good. We have regressed in nearly every facet of this program in the last 3 years. I'll have to check one more time but I think the only area we have markedly improved in is turnovers--especially with fumbles.

Something has got to change. This schtick of celebrating individual effort while losing is indicative of a program that does not have national championship aspirations. There is no shame in retiring this chain. Bring back it back out as a fun thing once we are hitting the ACCCG annually.

I'm tired of this notion that football is supposed to be 'fun'.

You know what's fun? WINNING!

And you don't reap the benefits of winning (fun) until you've taken care of BUSINESS first!

Being down 9-7 to Virginia means that you're not taking care of business. The 'fun switch' shouldn't be turned on until you take care of the objective at hand first. You EARN the fun.

I'm so tired of this soft a$$ culture we're breeding.
If we go into game week knowing that we're facing a less talented/inferior opponent, we're expecting to dominate on game day. If we're approaching halftime and we're still not dominating, we're too ****ed at ourselves to have fun!
That's how WINNERS and DAWGS approach the game, not this fun boy ****.

This isn’t my biggest problem, but it’s the optics and it’s one of the many things wrong with our program. I’m 24, so I find I’m able to speak on these things without being “old guy kicking people off my lawn”. If I was TVD or any of this, I would hate this. It’s participation trophy culture at its finest. You’ve put up 7 points against a mediocre team in **** near two quarters. That’s not ground for taking a team picture celebrating

Facts.

If TVD was MY kid I'd be ******* livid.

Celebrating every little milestone is ok buy there is a time and place.

In the midst of battle isn't one of those times.

Shout it from the rooftops Coach, business is business in getting a win........***** the pics....take them in the locker room...
Stay focused, but we smile, dance, throw up rings, chains, and pics for no purpose even behind on the scoreboard.
Stop the nonsense and get at games like serious business........winners win, and posers posture.....

I agree with you @Coach Macho.

I'm beginning to think we're (i.e., the team not me, cause my fanhood of these team is waning) pretty much the equal to an Instagram version of NCAA Football.
We literally do everything for the 'Gram, but provide zero substance.

We're a joke of a team (didn't realize how much D'Eriq makes this team look that much better), play calling on all three sides of the ball are laughable and as predictable as the sun rising and setting.

Essentially the Kardashians, we look good doing whatever, we sell a brand, but literally do nothing to prove those earnings.

How about throwing the walk-on in the air after the score. God the announcers were clowning us all night. As they should

have you ever even heard of something like this happening anywhere? even pros don't do that. they give the game ball to whoever to hold onto until after the game and get back to business. i've never even seen this in pop warner.

the biggest problem we had last night was between the ears, and this is just the perfect encapsulation of where the heads of everyone in the program is right now.
