There has always been a talent gap

It was a good game. We need to make this the regular habit before we make too many predictions of being back. But yeah, this is a good sign, a lot of the things that were broken aren't looking so broken, some young guys showing signs of potential.

Good call outs by D$. Flagg and Cave I like, Clarke and K. Smith I like, really nice to see Steed have success. Brevin and Mallory makes sense. Phillips and Roche, nicely done. Will be interesting to see how Phillips gets drafted relative to Rousseau.
Good point on Phillips vs Rousseau...real interesting

his biggest test will be can he convince king to return
Two years of king/lashlee will totally change this program
I have my fingers crossed

You are 100% correct but just thinking about it logically there's maybe a 5-10% chance he comes back. He's saying all the right things now but I find it hard to believe that there is a real chance he comes back unfortunately.

What changed? They appreciated being able to go out and play football and played every snap like it could be the last snap of the season. Took nothing for granted all night.
Granted it was Dookie, so certain posters may not want to thump their chests too hard, but the team played with their hair on fire. Took the O a couple of series to knock the rust off but the D looked like they were shot out of cannon from the start. You're right, it almost seemed as if they weren't taking for granted the opportunity to play again.

Holding a P5 team to a goose egg is no small task regardless of how bad they may be, and Baker and the D deserve a mountain credit for that. They tackled like anyone wearing blue stole their lunch money, it was beautiful. Did Duke even get into the RZ all night? I hope Manny told ****cliffe to eat his *** in the post game handshake. Even Ragone was clowning Dookie on Twitter last night.

Just really happy for the team, you have to think they were wondering if they'd even get to play again at some point. This was a **** of a way to get back at it. Hopefully we get over this **** big and have a full roster for UNC, and I hope some of the younglings performance last night has earned them more PT.

I want to absolutely murder UNC.

our pass pro has been pretty **** good all year. It’s our running game that is weak. Maybe Rivers, Campbell and a healthy Donaldson can help that next year.
I have heard that Williams has no intention of playing an extra year next season but we should be significantly better next year even without him. Nelson has proven to be a capable LT and is still improving. A healthy Donaldson will lock down one guard spot. Campbell has looked much better and could be the other guard or possibly RT. Jalen Rivers will be in the mix at G and T and Issiah Walker will be pushing for snaps too. The overall talent level on the line is actually getting where it needs to be.

Now we actually see it on the field. We used to lose to this garbage. Miami looked motivated, fresh and fast. The tackling and overall intensity was there from the beginning, even with some early rust. We are a long way from the bye-week curse.

- There are 8 games in a normal ACC schedule. This is the second time we’ve gone 7-1 since joining the ACC. That’s twice in 15 years. The other time we did it (2017), our coach won Coach of the Year. Manny deserves credit for fixing a lot of problems in a short amount of time.

- The OL has come a long way. They couldn’t block Duke for the past two years. Now, it’s a mismatch for us. Navaughn Donaldson blocked out the sun on Cam's touchdown run. Hopefully that is a confidence-builder on his road to fitness.

- Corey Flagg finds the football. I don’t know what he runs in the forty, but he is a sideline-to-sideline player.

- I never understood the rush to bury Cam Harris. The young guys are super talents, but Cam puts up the best numbers and makes the most explosive runs. On the flip side, the benching seems to have motivated him.

- Keontra Smith is finally flashing as a fast and physical player. He is someone who looks like a Miami defender.

- Brevin and Mallory played a bunch of snaps together and it looked good. When the ball gets to the perimeter, it helps to have a big TE blocking in space and dominating his matchup against a DB.

- Congratulations to @waynejr31. Happy to see Steed play well and force a fumble after all that he’s overcome. He could have easily quit after the second ACL but he is a true Cane.

- Marcus Clarke is flashing. I’ve heard the staff is very high on his speed and ball skills, but I liked how he tackled. He made several tough plays on kickoff and defense.

- Miami used to have the most athletic DTs in the nation. When you see Elijah Roberts force a fumble on a kickoff, it gives you hope we can get there again.

- I loved the decision to kick those FGs. Get Borregales’s confidence back and bury Duke. To quote the great @The Franchise, class is for Mr. Peanut with the top hat and the cane. Miami runs up the score.

- Tirek Austin-Cave and Jalen Rivers got meaningful run. TAC in particular looked explosive and thicker than advertised. Losing the spring really hurt him but his upside is huge.

- Jaelan Phillips is a first rounder. His confidence is sky-high and he is a supreme talent. Roche isn’t that kind of freak but he’s a **** of a college player. Both are great examples to sell in the Portal.

- The only downer was TVD being unavailable. We should make an effort to play him against Georgia Tech if possible.

- Overall, it was a blast to watch. Duke has been the most miserable game of the season lately and this was different. 8-1.
The short td run in the second half Rivers buried a ****.

Why does everyone say that? When they played their backup QB had over 400 yards. So by your logic Lawrence will have 800 yards passing in order to be able to destroy ND.
It's just the way the whole squad plays when he's in there. Nothing about stats, it's all about belief and motivation and when he's out there that team knows they can't be beat

Only on the second page. Let’s stop with the Rooster hate. Ppl forget his Louisville performance and I remember ppl saying Chaney wasn’t the goods.

now it’s Chaney the goods and rooster no good.

both backs are beast and bring a different skill set to the table.

rooster had a bad first snap. He’ll be fine.

Good stuff. Only thing I disagree with is regarding Cam Harris. He had a few decent runs, but man Chaney just has something the others don’t. He’s gonna be the goods if he stays healthy!
Cam has been different the last 2 games. He’s starting to see the field. If the hole is clogged he’s bouncing outside and creating on his own. Before he’d run straight and try and break tackles.

If (big if) King & Phillips return I definitely love our chances to be in the CFB playoffs next season.
Let’s hold out hope that our players finally listens to the nfl advisory group and come back and work on those things they suggest!

Somebody said it was a mild concussion but stinger makes sense. I saw him on the sideline late and he seemed in good spirits.

I saw him holding his right shoulder real weird. Didn’t look as bad as when Jordan was dangling his arm against Clemson but looked to be bothering him. He may have also had a mild concussion. Hopefully he gets healthy and cleared for either UNC or at worst Ga Tech
