MEGA There’s Still Hope for the ACCCG/CFB Playoffs Mega Merge Thread

He basically said that the committee is fraudulent if it doesn’t follow its own published principles, the most important of which is head-to-head followed by common opponent performance. He reiterated, over and over, that if head-to-head is not the prevailing consideration, then all the programs will immediately stop scheduling big time out-of-conference games. He said that very little weight should be given to blowouts against inferior teams. What matters is if you beat your best opponents — exactly what ND failed to do.
Sounds like he got the memo it's Miami or ND and the entire country is rebelling against ND because it means H2H does not matter

Bama is out with a loss if they are ranked 10th tonight
Wonder if the committee moves them up to avoid that happening
Find out tonight
I think they drop Ole Miss a few spots and move Alabama up. This protects Ole Miss at large bid and allows Bama to drop 1 or 2 spots if they lose to Georgia to stay in the Playoffs.

No chance the committee drops Alabama if they lose the SECCG if Bama is in the CFP before the game so I believe they will try to bake that in. I think it will be:

9. Bama
10. Miami
11. ND
12. BYU

Or I could see them arranging it so the SEC and Big12 championship games are play in games for Bama and BYU so they don’t have to violate the no punishment principle:

9. Miami
10. ND
11 and 12. Bama/BYU

Wild card really is Ole Miss. I wish they were in the 9-11 range because I’m pretty sure the committee could solve all the issues they created by dropping them out.

My gut says we are in tonight and then kicked out when BYU beats Texas Tech lol.

TrumpyCane doesn't see how BYU beats TT

TT negates BYU's biggest strength and Bachmeir can't throw for ****

Could see that for sure
Zero chance I watch 1 minute of playoffs with the obvious collusion
I know 1 person doesnt won't matter but way better things I could do than buy into the nonsense

If we’re behind ND tonight, the only path(s) are as follows (also assuming TTech beats BYU)

1. Bama loses by 17+ in the Champ Game
2. Ty Simpson, Mensah, Chandler Morris etc. suffer a Jordan Travis-like injury that warps the perception of how the committee views that team going forward
3. Multiple Ole Miss players leave or there’s a civil war that breaks out amongst the team

Assuming BYU does not beat Texas Tech, I believe we would.
Its hard to believe Bama will get beat bad by Georgia but anything is possible. If Bama just loses and has 3 losses then how can they make it over miami? Its such bias and corruption going on its total BS.

The logic for ND makes even less sense. This is why playoff 12 team system is worse than the old BCS since the folks making the decisions on the playoff committee are corrupt politicians and not ideal football minds.

This 100% will happen. They will go to 9 tonight so that if they lose, they only bump them down to 10 and put ND back at 9.

Where it gets tricky is what if BYU then wins? Would they dare bump Bama at that point? Pate says 0% SEC loser is out, but would you bump OU who just beat Bama in the last month? What if Bama and BYU both win? They gonna' bump ND at that point or do some funny business to keep their darlings in? ***** Ole Miss, OU, or TTU?

Our best chance is the leave ND at 9 tonight, Bama wins, BYU loses big, and they have ND and us sitting at 10 and 11.

sadly I am convinced they won’t move Miami ahead of ND. They want to be able to use bs “metrics” in the future so make sure the teams they pre-selected in the playoffs can get in. Head to head means nothing unless it happens to help the teams they like.

This isn’t going to ever change as long as the P2 and ND call the shots. I think the only real solution is for the G5, ACC, and B12 to break away and do their own tournament. I think it completely devalues the P2 as the general public will view the P2 as the XFL- “semi-pro” football with WWE scripted storylines- the same 32 teams playing each other and selection committee playing the kayfabe Vince McMahon role.

Meanwhile the other 100 plus teams have a real tournament and crown a champion that earned the title on merit alone instead of name recognition.

heather today on espn said the head to head hasn't come into play because of the teams in between them after saying last selection show that they did compare them and thought ND was better. lots of statement switching week to week which is why it's false to say "why would they change an order of teams when it's been the same for weeks"

Well I guess that’s that then. Miami needs to get ahead of this and say it is canceling ND game next season since H2H doesn’t matter.

Regardless of that, it isn’t true that teams are not or have not been moved down for losing championship games. May or may not happen to Alabama but it happened just last year.

To be fair, I think the main discourse has been "penalized". You will not be penalized for losing your conference champ. I'm not trying to be a smart-***, but I don't think SMU or Penn State were penalized for losing. They both still got into the playoff, even though they were dropped 1 or 2 spots in the final ranking.

So this is unprecedented. If Alabama is the last man in, and they lose, the committee has said they won't penalize you. Meaning they don't drop, and they're still in. But if they do drop you like they did SMU and Penn State, then you're out, because you don't have any room to fall and stay in.

I could be wrong, but I wouldn't bet a dime that the committee would take their golden baby Alabama and move them OUT of the playoff by losing to a Top 4 team in a game they earned their way into. If they do, then what's the point of playing? Just say you have a COVID out break and have them send Ole Miss to Atlanta next year. You don't play, you stay at 10, you're in the playoff.

As I've said for 2 days, if they lose 38-10 and Simpson gets hurt, sure. But if you guys are banking on the committee kicking Alabama out of the playoff to put Miami in, well, god bless you.

Not going to happen, but it would be beyond hilarious if the committee dropped two teams out of the playoffs because their coaches left.
It would definitely send a strong message and force schools to rework coaching contracts to prevent things like this from happening again.

The college football schedule just sucks overall. Schools want to get coaches in place for ESD, then the portal opens during the playoffs. Only way to fix it is to move the season up a week, reduce the gap between season and playoffs to finish it all before the new year, and move signing day back to January. (Seriously why do we still have two signing days?) It's just the nature of needing students enrolled by the 2nd or 3rd week of January.

They will ***** the Mormons and nobody in the rest of the country will care... that's their out.

It is POSSIBLE that just straight up if Duke wins and they choose to put JMU in over them that could single-handedly tip the scale to favor Miami over ND (if BYU also loses). They’d still want at least 1 ACC team in probably…

Here’s one other thing the a-holes on the committee conveniently leave out- You know one reason why Mid tier ACC teams occasionally beat a top ACC team? Back when Clemson ruled the ACC, why did Syracuse always gave Clemson tough games? Because when you play the same teams year after year in a conference, coaches understand every nuance and tendency. You can look at previous year films and see same players and how they won/lost their individual assignments. When you get to cherry pick your opponents each year on the schedule , it’s easy to surprise an opponent.
