MEGA There’s Still Hope for the ACCCG/CFB Playoffs Mega Merge Thread

All due respect, literally no one will care. 98% of the country would want ND in. A few talking heads would pound the table for about an hour, and it’d fade away. It would promote zero change. Just hot, empty air.

Obviously I don’t agree with any of that and do agree with you, I’m just telling you how it will go. I’m old and I’ve been following this stuff for a long, long time. ND at 10-2 is in and if that means Miami at 10-2 is out, well, that’s just the cost of doing business.
Unfortunately, this is probably true

1 out of the 11 experts (David Hale) predicting on ESPN have us making it as an at large at this point.

The committee will move us up 1 spot. If we win out we’ll get to the 11 or 12 spot and that’s as far as it will go. We’ll get bumped for conference champions and that’ll be it.
Listened to SiriusXM college sports Sunday and the hosts kept saying the ACC is a one bid league (conference champion). They also said if ND wins out they are a lock to get in and the head to head against ND won't matter because the committee only takes head to head into account if they think the teams are similar and they don't think the committee views ND and Miami as similar.

We can only control what we can. And that was running the table, or maybe losing 1 game, in a conference where we have an absolute ridiculous talent advantage in all aspects of the game except coaching. We aren’t even going to make it to our conference championship game. Again.
Ya, well it’s dumb that everyone else is allowed to lose games except us. The system is rigged. That’s the bottom line.

Miami has no path to the playoff unless everyone ***** the bed these last 2 weeks. The ACC has no clout, no one in the conference wins any out of conference games worth anything except for Miami. Miami was only afforded 1 mulligan, not 2
Yeah. If we learn anything it should be that the lip service about SOS means little. We just missed out last year. Played a tougher schedule including a top 10 team to open the season and won. Finished with the same record and about to end up in the same spot.

Play cupcakes. Get your young guys PT and peak in the conference play.

Only way is if somehow someway the acc falls apart these next two weeks and we back into the ACCCG.

Or if Auburn somehow beats bama to give them 3 losses.

Cant really see any other way.

lol, they are not similar?

We beat them.

And the one common opponent we’ve had, Miami beat by MORE!

The committee and those hosts can go **** themselves.

They asked for more dominance and Miami gave it to them beyond what they could have expected, especially for a team coming off a bye week who just dominated Georgia Tech and beat UVA. Miami has a massive ceiling, a top 5 defense and have not been blown out in 3 years. They are in the same pod as ND and have the head to head. No real debate. They should do it now and just say Miami beat ND head to head and if they win their last 4, especially the way they won the last 2, they are in over ND. The media should be all over it but they will not as it now seems more real and they will back track based on Miami hate and ND love.

1. Ohio State
2. Indiana
3. Texas A&M
4. Georgia
5. Texas Tech
6. Ole Miss
7. Oregon
8. OU
9. Bama (even though they lost to FSU)
10. Miami
11. ND
12. BYU
13. Utah
14. Vandy
15. USC
This is really how it should be, but we know it will not be

Oregon is a great comparison to us. A team with some flaws. Oregon found a way to win some games that we find a way to lose. They’ll end with 1 loss and skate in. We’ll be left outside looking in with 2 losses.

ND is in. Leave them out of the conversation. There are 6 teams for 2 spots:

OU
Bama
Vandy
BYU
Utah
Miami

If we beat Pitt more soundly than ND did, they will have zero arg for putting them in ahead of us.

Right now we have head to head and we have 1 common opponent. We beat NC state better in every phase of the game than ND. We do that to Pitt we will jump them.

I worry more about them jumping both of us because of this. The easiest way to solve this issue is to put neither of us in.

They also don’t have a ranked win. Their best win is a 4-loss Iowa team.

If they lose to USC and they are ahead of us, it’s time to burn it all down.

Auburn will get destroyed by bama
Auburn hung with Texas A&M, losing 16-10. They got hosed by Oklahoma, and should have won that game. Their entire season has been one VERY close loss after another. If they are going to win one, it darn well could be against Alabama. It's not like Auburn is a bad team, they have just been on the short end of the stick several times. I'll say this. They are better than FSU, and FSU spanked Alabama.

The ref show has been blatant and obvious in every close SEC game where a highly ranked team played a **** one. You’re out of your mind if you think this won’t be the most egregious. It’s gonna be the entire ESPN and SEC machine vs Auburn that night. It’ll take nothing less than an act of god for Auburn to win.

The refs picking up the PI flag called on Ole Miss was literally jaw dropping. I saw the flag, then the replay and told my buddy, “yeah can’t argue that one. Florida has a chance.” And then they decided it wasn’t PI. Wasn’t a review or anything - it was just the SEC refs saying, “Ole Miss isn’t losing at home to Florida tonight. That’s too embarrassing a loss and they might drop out of the playoff picture.”

yeah it sucks for the fans though that buy tickets or even season tickets. Its not worth the expense to watch them play Bethune or whatever other trash team

I'm surprised people are assuming Oklahoma takes care of business these next 2 weeks and gets in over us. They were dreadful yesterday against Bama, I think they had the lowest post-game win expectancy of any team who won yesterday. They won because of Bama sloppiness/turnovers. They actually DROPPED 3 spots in SP+ yesterday (below Miami) despite beating Bama.

They also play a solid Missouri team that has a very good defense and maybe the best RB in the country. Assuming they take care of that, they then play a talented LSU team that I'm sure would love to play spoiler. Those will be 2 good defenses that Mateer would have to face, and he's been pretty mid since the thumb injurty
That OU offense is Mateer. Everyone else is mid there. Good shot they lose one of their next two.

The SEC reasoning is how well they play in OOC games early in the season.
Of course they forget the clunkers (FSU/Bama) that should affect CFBPO positioning.
I would like to see the SEC's OOC SOS overall. It can't be good. Hanging their hats on beating a struggling Clemson team is pretty pathetic. Also wins over other struggling ACC team like Syracuse and VT are nothing to write home about. The rest of their OOC schedules are just pathetic. Absolutely loaded with powder puffs. We played ONE in Bethune. Go check the SEC and how many each of them schedule. It's pathetic.
