MEGA There’s Still Hope for the ACCCG/CFB Playoffs Mega Merge Thread

Everyone is waiting for Miami to crap the bed. If they win, I think they’re in. Some of the teams ahead of Miami will lose. It will be hard to keep Miami out. They’re good for ratings.

Complete and utter chaos!!!!

Two 12-0
Two 12-1/12-1
OU, Ole Miss, ND, Miami, GT, UVA, USC, BYU 10-2 (one potential 11-2 acc). One of the above is left off with G5 taking the spot. Likely acc team or two with sec 3 loss Bama.

Sec- 5
B10- 3
Acc- 2
B12- 1
G5
ND

F'ing ACC Network podcast is dissing Miami over ND....stupid A-Holes. Roddy Jones and EJ Manual are about FSU/G Tech instead of ACC. Talking up Big 12 wins this week, talking up ND as a lock in CFP. Just ridiculous and so much different than SEC Network.
i saw that too. Pretty sad when the conference network runs a podcast dissing the best team in the conference.

They are both idiots

If we want a chance to make it, we need to jump Vandy tomorrow (potentially Utah too). From there, we just need Bama or Oklahoma to lose. For those thinking we’re going to jump ND, it’ll never happen. ND is likely going to keep climbing the rankings, so the committee isn’t going to drop them 5-7 spots at the last second
I bet they move up at least one spot tomorrow

None. Now compare losses.

It's the body of work. A 16 SOR, 2 loss, non-champion from the ACC just isn't getting in.
Now show me the other 2 loss non conference champion teams ahead of us and their SOR and and ranked wins.

You act like its a forgone conclusion. It's not so STFU and let's see what happens.

Great point on G5 having their own playoff.

Maybe what they should is is have their best G5 team make it to the CFP and then the rest can have a 4 team playoff. But I doubt it happens.

I get your point on ND but if we don’t get in with the same record, we end up in the same predicament.

We destroyed them and they get a pass.
Yeah, that’s why I go back and forth about whether or not we should cancel the remaining ND games. I hate how the ACC has bent over for them so much, but then again, our OOC schedule in the upcoming years is looking pretty bleak. If we let them go, and end up 11-1 or even 12-0, but with zero ranked teams on our schedule (which is very possible), we aren’t getting in the CFP. And then we’ll say we should have kept ND on the schedule.

Good chance Vandy losses to Tennessee. With that, they’re out. OU isn’t a lock against Mizzou or LSU. Bama has to go to Jordan Hare with its season on the line; Bama fans will tell you they hate that. USC probably loses this week to Oregon. Oregon also plays Washington to end the year, a team Lanning has struggled against historically. Pitt can easily beat GT, whose defense is awful.

Still time for chaos, we just need to win out. Also, if Pitt beats GT and we win out, decent chance we make the ACCCG.
Ask any SEC fan about a big game at Jordan Hare. It’s a house of horrors. ****, Saban needed that 4&17 miracle the last Iron Bowl he coached. He still talks about that place being ****.

This makes no sense.

Why would I compare losses to a team we beat? The only point of "comparing losses" is to predict which team is better when there's no head-to-head matchup. In this case, we played ND. The only relevant question is: who won?

How about instead of comparing losses . . . we look at wins? Utah has beaten basically no one. Vanderbilt has actually beaten no one. ND has also beaten . . . no one.

The point is: you cannot justify putting in a 2-loss ND ahead of us. We beat them.

You’d be surprised what could happen. ND remaining SOS is 91. Ours is 47. Could be higher if Pitt beats GT. That SOR could move us up. Also Michigan, USC and Texas are between us and ND. If they all lose to OSU, Oregon and TAMU respectively, they’d drop. Could make the argument we could be above ND two Mondays from now.

The argument comes down to a minuscule SOR and SOS difference as the reason they are ahead of us, cancel every P5 OOC game forever.

There is no doubt that the committee was begging us to play a complete game and not suck on offense. Let’s see if they partially reward us for having done it…
Wouldn’t shock me in the slightest to see us jump Utah tomorrow. At some point better wins have to trump “better losses”. If it doesn’t what’s the point of playing the **** games?

I’ve never listened to this podcast, but I actually feel like most stuff from ACC Network people will ride hard for the conference.

David Hale, Andrea Adelson, Packer, Eric Mac Lain, etc. all stick up for the ACC and shred the CFP committee.

Now are there favorites within the conference? I think that’s fair, but I don’t think I’ve seen much where they prop up teams outside the ACC
