The Work 10-11

I get that you guys want to defend the staff, but Grimes is an elite talent period. What happened to “stacking chips”? That’s all that most of this board preaches about, but now we should turn down elite talent because they “missed their chance”? I’m sorry, but it’s total nonsense.

We stacking chips with Pope, Wiggins, and Hightower, mane. #pringles

All are great talents as well, but the very concept of stacking chips implies you add as much as you can possibly get, no? I guess I’ll stop harping about it, but it really makes no sense to me

Everything does not always make sense. I prefer no to Grimes. Stay at osu and be the next J. Dixon

Man yall need to stop acting like Grimes is Jerry Jeudy or something. **** Jeff Thomas was better than him coming out anyways. Plus dude has a ****ed up knee and still isn't healthy.

Rejecting someone solely because they didn't choose us initially and a yr later wants to transfer here is definitely not the best move, but I have no problem with that being a factor in the decision to take a transfer or not. In this situation the staff wasn't as high on Grimes as the 247 rankings were, and they clearly aren't too confident in him after his injury. I have no problem not taking Grimes given all the circumstances. Had this been Jeudy that was trying to transfer here though, I think this staff 100% would be all about doing what they could to get him. The fact is they just aren't on the Grimes bandwagon just because he was a "5* recruit"....because to them that is meaningless.

Jerry Jeudy has 5 more catches than Grimes. Jerry Jeudy aint lightin the world on fire currently brah.

Does he help us win? If so, take him. Dude is 6'4" and was a Top 5 national recruit regardless of position...even if he isn't as good as Jeudy you're telling me he couldn't be a good weapon in the Red Zone?

He never dogged Miami that I can recall, he just didn't care about us. He grew up largely in the Midwest and the last time we were any good he was, what, 5?

I understand the "get on the bus or get run over" mentality and I appreciate it but we aren't deep enough across the board yet to turn away this kind of player.

I don't think there's much to gain from the hardline stance, though I do like the bravado. It's not like kids are going to see Grimes' situation and think to themselves, "I'm gonna go roll the dice up at Michigan/OSU/Bama because I know that if things go poorly Miami will be waiting for me." Does not compute.

That said, if we don't think he's talented enough to make room for him, or if we're concerned with health issues, then I'm all for closing the door.

Losing Walton is going to hurt, but I think it could be a positive for our offensive play calling. I'm hoping richt will have to become more creative since he can't just give it to Walton a ton and see what he does.

I hate that Richt ran Walton into the ground instead of letting him rest for a couple game

Walton averaged 14 carries a game this year. That's hardly running him into the ground. Now the argument could be made about a clearly hurt Walton still being utilized over a healthy Homer last game.

On top of that i'm quite sure Walton was pushing for more PT not Richt pushing him into playing

Grimes is an absolute waste of a schollie. Just goes to show stoopid some of our fanbase is that we're actually clamoring for this scrub.

Thomas and Grimes are completely different players. This isn't some Johnnie Dixon, this is A LOT closer to Jerry Jeudy wanting back in. Anyone who thinks the love for Grimes is because he was a 5* just frankly didn't watch enough STA games. Kid is an unreal talent and has rare size and speed. He was incredibly polished in high school. I wept every time Jake Allen threw him a ball because 1) It was probably a horrid throw, and 2) He wasn't coming to Miami. I don't care what they ranked him, he's a freak.

I completely disagree with the staff stiffing Grimes, because I love his talent not his rating. I doubly disagree with it because the kid might very well end up at one of our rivals. The guy is just too good for that to happen, and it would somehow be worse than him going to Ohio State.

There is a slew of much more important and relevant information on Pete's work. As Liberty noted we have a slew of stud WR's coming. Much more relevant is that our main positions where we could not have injuries (DB, RB, mad OL) have suffered injuries. Safety is a big concern considering our secondary play. Gaynor is perhaps going to be very good but he is now starting. RB's have been discussed ad naseum but we will miss Walton big time the rest of the season- make no mistake about that.

Forget Grimes.
Sends a bad message to the recruits who want to be Canes from the start.
Richt always preaches that he wants kids who WANT to be Hurricanes.
Not kids who wants to be Hurricane because things aint working out with the other chick.
We're stacking chips just fine.

This Grimes kid hasn't even asked for a transfer from taint and we are over here debating if we should take him or not.
As if it was up UM at this point.

I think people are looking past the fact that Urban Meyer personally escorted this kid from Ohio state (god knows with which boosters plane) to come back home. Im just trying to wrap my mind around as to why he would do that if he isnt a stud?

Now while im not for chasing this kid like a bytch playing games, given his circumstances if he is the one who comes to us and says "I want to be a Cane" then you allow him to fill our fourth WR spot while at the same time giving Thorton the finger.

I mean would anyone of you turn down Grimes for the chance at trying to flip a Williams, Austin, Thorton, that fast kid from AH, or anyone left on the WR board.

In the end though its the coaches decision and ill roll with what they want cause as of now we are undefeated, ranked, and fresh off a sweet *** victory of FSU.

Didn't go through all the pages . Please tell me someone asked the question about the qb take in this class ? Sits can't be it

I have no clue ,nor does anyone else, know what has been told or promised to the other WR’s we have committed.Would anyone be willing to risk one of maybe two of Pope ,Wiggins,Hightower by taking this kid? A kid with a bum knee.

What if,which is probable,Campbell Is also committed. You want to risk losing him.

We all know that S. fla. kids are divas in large part and we don’t know what might **** them off.We don’t know what Richt has told or promised them and who knows if taking Grimes is breaking Richt word to them and they bolt.

I’m happy with the kids we have and have coming.Grimes had his shot and chose ***’s lies. Now he wants to come home...Butch says He had a spot.

That part is irrelevant

And why would that be?

How is bringing in a receiver gonna scare away a defensive back?
