Assistant contracts, I believe, aren't typically guaranteed, unlike head coaches.

Tom Herman would be interesting. He had a huge buyout from Texas, so sat out collecting $M’s. If the time is right for him, maybe restarting his career would be in order. Texas is a toxic program, riddled with monied boosters trying to micromanage rather than just sending checks and keeping quiet. The Longhorns only won a NC when they had a generational talent like Vince Young, with a bit of carry over with Colt McCoy.

Herman was good at Ohio State and previous stops.
