The Foreclosure (7/12)

D$ captured it. If we don't believe in Mario, why would they? Our best season in 20 years, and we could not finish - we choked, we mocked them and then folded.

UF finished 8-5, won their last 4 games including against two ranked teams, have money, are in the SEC and have a QB people are excited about.

**** em both, but if we are not getting players to commit to Miami over those two, that is a Miami problem to solve.
How Miami can't sell our program coming off our best season in 20 years is beyond me

I think NIL funds became short after the Cantwell commitment. There’s something @DMoney and other insiders aren’t telling us. I’ve been saying it over and over - something isn’t adding up.

The numerous issues (the end of season collapse, lousy fanbase, playing in the ACC, 20 years of mediocrity etc) didn’t suddenly pop up after mid June. What else could’ve changed? Our NIL situation.
Exactly like all that 20 years irrelevant and ACC issues like you said been there in June when we were hot on the trail. I can't wait until all these insiders just finally tell us whats really going on behind the scenes. I think something with revenue share July 1st

Mario is a weird recruiter. He is very strong recruiting offensive and defensive lineman and portal QBs and has had spot success at other positions, while he's been an abject failure at other positions.

Here is an example of great recruiting.

View attachment 330178

What’s weird about it? Look at the list of where his players have been drafted. His QBs and OL have been drafted early. He had a DE go in the 1st round. He recruits those positions well.

The positions where he has struggled to recruit tends to be where he also hasn’t had much success getting players drafted.

What would be weird is if Cristobal was landing 5 star LBs and DTs but couldn’t get top OL to play for him.

This year is going to be very difficult to flip kids. Kids are getting locked in their deals. This would not be my strategy if I were Mario. I would be surprised if it is.
Yes I agree. For this year I have been in full agreement that it was likel more important/needed to get as many top guys on board early as possible, purely for the unknown of how it'll play out with all this contract stuff.
Its already very difficult to get flips out of top guys, and this just adds to it. But we willl see. I'm still not sure any of these contracts signed like today are really all that enforceable as far as ensuring they end up signed/playing for that school. I mean they can't actually get paid for rev share today while still in HS. So any money they will receive right now that schools would be capable of "clawing back" would be pure NIL or Under the table money which is the same as it's been the last few years. They have no recourse for under the table money obviously, and for NIL the player can just argue whatever they've already been paid they fullfilled as part of thier service being provided. Maybe they'd have to give some back for whatever was prorated, but certainly not all... And like whats stopping a player from signing two competing Rev Share contracts before they enroll? I mean if no services were provided they never even enrolled or paid... No judge is going to side with the school imo...

Under this regime, only the offensive line gets developed, Bains awesome first season was just based off of raw talent until the CORCHin staph took over his sophomore season

And as far as Ward goes I highly doubt they did any developing of his already skill set, they just provided him a better OLine
Thanks to you jerky. When I read your posts it's Mr sinister voice. No lie. Lol 🤣. Makes it even more enjoyable.

Miami football wasn't mediocre last year. They were one of the ~15 best programs in the country, no matter what metric you looked at (except anything specific to just defense, in that case make sure you're near an eye-wash station).

Mario has been building the program, from 5 wins and a genuinely pathetic product, to a better product but 7 wins (really 8 if you're not the dumbest human on the planet, but that's been beaten to death), to 10 wins and certainly not mediocre.

As far as baseball, I hate that we hired JD and think he has no shot for long-term success here, but I'll be the first to admit making the super regionals has to buy any coach more time. So we'll see what he does this year. Just like we will with Mario.

If the football team goes 8-4 this year, and we lose to FSU or UiF or both, I'll be the first one to ***** and say that's not good enough. But if I lived in a cave and only came out during the months of September to January on Saturday afternoons, I'd say Miami is an ascending football program. It's literally the definition of the word. We're about to start another year, how does it play out?
The hiring is the problem. It is the same hire a bro process and inept administration. Making the Super Regionals was excellent, but what doomed us when we got there was what doomed us in the dugout all season. Winning 10 games was fun, but what doomed us in the losses was what dooms us on game days all Fall -- neither are high IQ minds in their sport. The wins come in spite of their presence, not because of their presence. It just is what it is.

Let's win this Fall. 10+. Not 8, not 9. 10 -- because, well "trajectory"

Mario's in-game coaching was much, much better last year. I know he has a reputation, and it's earned. And I'm not sure I'll ever forgive him for GT, no matter what he does here. I've said that many times. But I've got to give credit where it's due, he was much improved last year with clock-management, go/kick decisions and he was hyper aggressive on 4th downs, which he NEVER used to be. Not perfect, but definitely better.

Also, give him a lot of credit for going for two in Berkeley. Almost every coach would have kicked an XP there and not chased points at that point in the game. The game was 35-10, and we scored to make it 35-16. You're down 19, there's not that much of a difference between 18 and 17 with 20 minutes to go or whatever it was. But we went for it, got it, and won the game by 1. Had he not done that, the game goes to overtime and who knows how it ends. And even if you want to say "bro he's just reading a chart".....we literally killed him at Oregon and through his time here for not even being able to do that.

I'm very much with you on 10+...although I'm not going to spend time dissecting it here but there are plenty of avenues where we go 10-2 in the regular season and it winds up being a very successful year and one you can continue to sell as "trajectory".

Please don't make me think about baseball right now.

Post it again, maybe 3rd times the charm and all of a sudden your "argument" will make any lick of sense lol.
I'll just keep saying 9 years of Starting OT play if he does it from Sewell, Mauigoa, and Cantwell will absolutely 100% be Elite. Period, end of story, because none of you little mopy cucks have any valid response to that lol

I understand your point but always in top ten in recruiting??? You might've slept through the signing day periods last year because I have some news for you.....
I remember I forgot how literal this board is. 8 of 10 years we will be in the top ten or when we take a number of high school kids.

Lol you know no one here is going to let anything slip by. But naw, I understand your point. It's just last yr is still fresh on ppls mind. Combined with recruiting being not-so-hot as of late....

And to counter that, he was too aggressive vs GT last year and went for it on 4th and short instead of kicking two easy field goals (6 points) in a game that we lost by 5 points. The aggressiveness giveth and taketh away.

Bain played hurt last season, Freshman All-American at CB, Restrepo was an All-American, Arroyo, Lofton, Lyle...I am not even that big a Mario fan, but sounding stupid is certainly a choice.
