The Foreclosure (7/12)

Bain played hurt last season, Freshman All-American at CB, Restrepo was an All-American, Arroyo, Lofton, Lyle...I am not even that big a Mario fan, but sounding stupid is certainly a choice.
Man shut the **** up with this week ****, you don’t even know what the **** the conversation was about

Expecting another crap season from Mario’s bum ***

Paying Mario to be outside of the top 10 recruiting makes zero sense. We might as well pay a technical coach and give him a budget to recruit at a 10-15 level.

Mario needs to get these done with the exorbitant budget he has. Otherwise, he’s useless.
What have his recruiting classes been ranked? Not pre season when the overly emotional get carried away. But when the classes are done? How about portal rankings?

Lol you know no one here is going to let anything slip by. But naw, I understand your point. It's just last yr is still fresh on ppls mind. Combined with recruiting being not-so-hot as of late....
That’s why I like it around here. Gotta bring it! We cannot close like we did last year. Period. Something needs to be done. Losing some of the staff we have had hurt relationships also. But teams are coming in hot with cash. And even if we have money, ( we do) we had better scout the plan B kids and know who’s who.

Put us in the SEC and we have top 5 recruiting classes in perpetuity. It’s that simple. All things being equal, players prefer to play in the big leagues against the best teams in full stadiums. Mario is recruiting with one hand tied behind his back.
lol our stadium will till be empty or half full for most games

South florida kids play most of their hs games in front of under 300 ppl.

They dont care about stadiums.

Yall just want to be in sec to be frontrunners or to claim conference just like the kids yall chastize.

Um recruits top 10 classes regularly so does clemson...what the **** makes yall think the sec patch is gonna make miami some juggernaut?. sh*t hasnt helped out mizzou....but **** we like recruiting guys from VANDY so we may be inline

It's exhausting dealing with the Miami fanbase, much less the South Florida community. Miami is the only school I can think of where things have to be absolutely PERFECT in order for the local recruits to give Miami a legit chance. Texas stunk for DECADES, TAMU hasn't won anything in my(and most of our) grandparents lifetimes, kids are still lining up to go there.

The Miami community actively searches for reasons to push kids away from a University that has shown that they are serious about winning football. No matter what the University does, no matter what steps forward are taken, too many local people have made up their mind about the program and the University. It's amazing that Miami is expected to succeed DESPITE the community, something few other schools are expected to do. We can discuss why the local community behaves this way(A small local alumni base, an antipathy towards the University based on decades of BS narratives pushed by those in the community that have their own agendas(Uncle Luke)), but if Mario can't overcome it, despite being from the community, despite being a proven winner at multiple stops, despite being able to marshal top end financial support, then no coach ever will.

I hope that Mario reaches out to Jimmy and Butch, two coaches that leveraged national recruiting when the local community turned their backs on them
. Texas and Cali will always be Miami friendly areas, because those kids haven't been poisoned. Same with the eastern seaboard, those kids believe in what Miami has been and can be once again.

Maybe it's time for us to let go of the "State of Miami" myth, and understand that it's a waste of time to recruit people that will NEVER be receptive to what the University offers. Fight for the high end kids that WANT to be 'Canes, but avoid getting your hopes up about most of the high end recruits. Up your eval budget, make sure you hit on the low 4 star and high 3 star talents that could benefit from development, and are receptive to the sales pitch.
On the bolded. Thats the problem now always reaching out to ppl who have no clue whats going on NOW. The landscape has changed significantly since butch and jimmy. they havent recruited in decades dont wanna hear it. stop living in the past.

The whole "STATE OF MIAMI" thing is also a myth because Mario isnt recruiting locally as tough as other coaches we previously had. The recruits we are losing are NATIONAL recruits for the most part. The one local priority they are about to lose is Cooper. The Russell's , Lopez. they always were moving from lukewarm to hot in their recruitment fluctuating.

The whole sky is falling of this week is HILARIOUS to me as a recruiting vet. I didnt think we would land ANY of those kids. Cooper as a kid previously that committed to UGA so his willingness to leave s.fla was there already. But he is the lone priority whiff i see. ADD TO IT...WE HAVE A LOCAL RB COMMITTED.

I don't know man…Staff has been all over him for a while no?

And in the last 6 months he's basically been in every DMoney "The Bank"
They were in on him so much they bagged up Spofford before him. A kid from Mission viejo or wherever that is.

Hes a take but its clear who they prioritize cause when they do guys jump in the boat quick lol

While a lot of things have changed in recruiting, this has been an issue at Miami FOR DECADES. That's why I suggested talking to people that have successfully navigated it. I'm not saying that you can copy and paste what Butch and Jimmy did(You likely can't), but you can take some of the knowledge and apply it to this particular circumstance. Disregarding decades of knowledge and evidence of proof of concept isn't intelligence, it's stupidity masquerading as progressive thought.

Mario is hitting national recruits hard(Which he should, those are the top end recruits willing to at least give him a fair shot) because I personally believe that he's hit the limit of his tolerance with South Florida HS football. Mario is a strong recruiter, but his recruiting style is based on being relentless and brutally honest. While that plays well with kids in Texas, Cali and other places, it doesn't hit nearly as well in Miami, mostly because of the erosion in the culture. We can discuss the sociological reasons, but these families are significantly different from the families that Howard and other Miami coaches had to deal with before.

on your first paragraph its kind of silly to think he doesnt because out of all of our coaches he is likely the most disciple to those two guys. So im sure he is in tune in line and communicates with them. But living in the past is what has us in the 20 years long free fall. Also guys were leaving SOUTH FLORIDA then. The whole difference in demographic in Florida and South florida that differs from the places like Texas for example is............We have FOUR DIFFERENT COLLEGES that have claim to fame of winning a MNC. Texas has won once in my life time...no other school in the entire state has even really been relevant. Our local landscape is filled with fans of the other big 3 schools, its not Bama where the state is split...its not TX where its majority ran by UT with tx am and Oklahoma duking it out for players. EVERY COLLEGE IN AMERICA has to come to FLORIDA To recruit and **** near everyone has a connection on their staff. Add to it we are a private school....similar to usc but...ucla sucks so usc should have carte blanche on most of their local grounds. There are a lot of unique factors in the state...and then you have the state of miami which is a cesspool. (Dade n Broward)

On your second paragraph. Agreed. Me and @DMoney are considered the s.fla homers but even we are in agreement on not having time to play the games with em. Honestly they should of bagged Jae Lamar...but they played cute there. Im not as concerned with the 2nd rb situation as i think they can flip a guy like the kid committed to wisky rather easy.

Mario strength does NOT play well in Texas we arent landing kids from there. He targets a few elite kids from tx yearly but they never come quite frankly its almost a waste of time the way we do it. Im good on scrapping on recruiting tx save for the dallas area. We need to continue with the BISHOP GORMANS (NEVADA)....use his LA Contacts (oaks christian)..we need not go into Mississippi...we need to divert funds into NJ/Phily......THE DMV area...and spend some money in NOLA (lsu wont take everybody) The chicago run was fruitful.

Again I fully understand the CMC criticism and apparent limitations

But realize that if riding off into the sunset means that in year 3 of CMC tenure there wasn't one Diaz recruit worth a **** on the field. Sure there were some Diaz guys on offense, your point is taken….But "riding Diaz players off into the sunset" is a bit extreme.

Best players on last years team (in order, or at least semi-order)

Ward
Restrepo- Diaz
Martinez
Arroyo- Diaz
Rivers- Diaz
Mauigao-
Barrow-
Bain
Frederique
Horton- Diaz

Am I missing anyone? The two RB are nice backs, George, Horton, Bissainthe, Mesidor, Cooper…I guess those are would be the next 7, 3 of them Diaz guys.

The point being for year 3, that looks about right or maybe slightly in favor of the new coach…But not far off from what you'd expect. Definitely not "riding Diaz players off into the sunset"

And Diaz was the DC for 6 recruiting classes.

Lets play this out. You can Mario. Where do you go from there? What coach worth a **** will want to come to a program who just ran out an alumni coach after showing improvement year over year while dealing with an over entitled fan base who thinks we should be on par recruiting with the big dogs because we have the same NIL opportunities. Here is a cold hard fact. We should not be in play for most of the guys we got if you go by the past 20 years track record. Urban Meyer 2.0 is not coming to Coral Gables. Fact is, while he is flawed, Mario overall is a pretty good option for what we can realistically expect to be the coach here.
Mario only gets fired if he goes 7-5 or worse. That would put him at 29-21.

No coach would hold it against us for firing a guy with that record, coming off a 7-5 year, and no CFPs or conference titles.

(For the record I think we go 10-2)
