Was that McElwain at Florida during those years? Probably his recruits at a minimum between him and Mullen.

I understand your point but always in top ten in recruiting??? You might've slept through the signing day periods last year because I have some news for you.....We will not have UF classes with Mario. The question is can he win enough with what he gets. We will always be in the top ten in recruiting. Can Mario and staff pick the right kids to win big. He has failed to mail certain positions. DT he has 5 kids. Had we kept Collins A Horton and Jackson we would have a great group. Mario gets studs but can he find enough when we lose the bidding wars.
I asked about Kiffin because he seems to have a swagger that could be nice after a hard *** like Mario.
I haven’t been following recruiting this cycle. Do you think we finish in the top 10?I understand your point but always in top ten in recruiting??? You might've slept through the signing day periods last year because I have some news for you.....
Yep for every Michael Jackson/Njoku there seemed to be 10 Corey KingsHe definitely recruited some high ranked guys. But would supplement them with a lot of guys who wasn’t Miami caliber. I gave him credit for some of those low 3 star he got that turned out good
He needs some better recruiter at positions. Saying that now people will downvote me to oblivion or disagree. Come back in a year or two and this post will be spot on. When you start seeing guys move to other programs (instead of being fired) they were basically told to kick rocks. There are a few I would replace for recruiting purposes. No HC specializes in more than 1 or 2 position groups. Sabag was DB’s. Mario is OL. It’s all about the coordinators and position coaches a HC hires. A HC can help bring in talent but the position coaches are tasked with developing that talent.
Totally agreeThe problem with this is that the Head Coach 100% decides who to hire as assistants to identify and evaluate, recruit, develop and coach the players so this ultimately falls on the Head Coach.
I honestly haven't been following much as well. I limited myself to only know what's going on when it's posted in here. This year is all about the season for me.I haven’t been following recruiting this cycle. Do you think we finish in the top 10?
Agreed. Cam Ward will be the climax of the Mario era…..I think we peaked under Mario’s tenure last season.
Yea because going to sec will make our fans show up to Bethune Cookman games . Yall gotta stop glazing that conference. Playing in the Sec doesn’t help the attendance of Vanderbilt and Mississippi StateThese HS recruits are going else where not because of Mario. A lot of them prefer to play in SEC, they prefer big home crowds that provide a College environment, they prefer NIKE over Adidas. You can bring in any other coach like a Lane Kiffin, and it wouldn’t change a thing.
Miami needs to change to the SEC or BIG 10 and to NIKE, Hopefully that would fixed that home crowd attendance.
No argument from me. Recruiting can’t be a one man (Mario) show. Running a D1 football isn’t a one man show. It’s all about the people the HC hires. He needs some better recruiter at positions. 9-4I think we peaked under Mario’s tenure last season.
Soooo you gave examples of us being on the verge that highlighted Mario’s coaching ineptitude. I’ve been screaming for 3 years that Manny was a better coach and was laughed at. Mario is a perennial 3 loss coach at best. And that’s with him being given everything he needs to compete with the big boys
I won’t sugarcoat it. I’m expecting more bad news, based on recent conversations. There isn’t much confidence on anyone right now, including Derrek Cooper.
I’ve thought we’d get him from the beginning, and still think we can flip him at some point. But we’re behind Texas headed into the announcement. And this is an absolute top priority recruit.
It seems a lot of kids still don’t believe in Miami. And the local players least of all. That’s understandable- they know us the best. Many of our fans don’t believe in us after two decades of disappointment.
The bottom line is we need to get over the hump. We were on the verge when we forgot to kneel against Georgia Tech. We were on the verge when we were up 21-0 on Syracuse. We need to get to the next level as a program to prove we aren’t the place dreams go to die.
Until then, we will be fighting a lot of uphill battles.
Lol
“Win and they will come”
Best season we had in awhile they don’t come pause
Goalpost: “we didn’t make the playoffs that’s why”
5-7 year one good class
Goalpost: “you can sell what your building your a new HC”
All bs

So the position group he actually works with he proves he can develop... what a revelation. He can’t develop much beyond OL and for all the OL hype, how many OL has he put in the league in the 1st round over the the last 10 years… Sewell, a few years ago, and Mauigoa shortly?
