The Foreclosure (7/12)

So we walked over them because of scheme?

@JHallCanes I love you but this is the dumbest narrative going.
I didn’t see where the recruiting with UiF thing started so my comment was super random. I would have just responded to what you posted having read it now

We walked over UiF (imo) because Mario is legit a better coach and leader than Napier could ever hope to be. We joke about tuff and fizzical but we were 10x the tougher program that day. UiFs QB was trash and their secondary was slow.

Mario does a lot of **** that drives me nuts but he landed Cam Ward and it wasn’t just because of money

I also think very highly of Shannon Dawson. We were absolutely electric being prepared on offense every week

UiF is a dog**** culture program and their little run at the end of the year didn’t change my mind. They caught some people off guard is my opinion

I was just commenting that they’ve actually held their own recruiting….somehow

I’d rather go back to wearing baggy sleeved shirts than give UiF credit where they don’t deserve it

Ward was a huge factor in that game. We recruited him. He was not inherited from Manny.

We’ve beaten UF in HS recruiting rankings three out of four years. We are ranked ahead of them currently.

We’ve beaten UF in the Portal rankings four out of five years. The only year UF ranked ahead of us was last year, when we signed Cam Ward and Damien Martinez.

On the field, the talent disparity was obvious to anybody with eyes and honesty. Their fans left midway through the third.

This is a good thread to complain about many things. All deserved. But praising a dead UF program without facts is a bridge too far.

I think we agree on A & B, not on C. I respect your opinion. SC will probably go 8-4 this year. Finish in top 3 for recruiting. My point is this is a rapidly professionalizing sport. Whether the best analogy is premier league soccer, mlb or the nfl as far as $$ is concerned idk. But the fact is, like any business it comes down to management. And what I am trying my best to articulate is ours sucks. And until we have a real GM and real structure we’re ****ed. With mario I don’t see that changing. I hope we have a magical season, I will never root against us

We’re poorly run, period, end of story. If you don’t think not taking a knee vs GT doesn’t translate across the operation, I have some beach front property in Iowa to sell you
So, we have a head coach that can't coach, recruit, or manage a program. Yay

Appreciate the honesty here.

Seven weeks away from football. I've muted all Canes related follows on X and will only follow national news until the game.

Big season ahead, curious how the team will shake out.

This is the fallout of our previous AD and president treating our football program like it’s Wake Forrest for the last 25 years.

the SEC turned on some sort of switch at some point after cantwell, not sure if its with the messaging, the money, or something else Im not seeing, they have turned on the afterburners...

and dont give me russell, im not sure the sec wanted him that badly

Pretty soon we'll be hearing practice reports about how good Day and Fitzgerald look at S.
Think Fitzgerald has always been viewed as CB. But Day has been getting good reports. So not sure why that would be something different...

If they look good, I’ll post it.

Remember, the practice reports (mine and others) were clear that secondary would be our weakness last year. I don’t think anybody expected the total defensive collapse, but DB was always the area of concern.

It didn’t happen over night. Cooper said after his ov that people say miami is the place where dreams die. Don’t know if y’all realize but there is only 2 kids from sfla committed in this class. 2

Fun fact from Trumpycane

Our last NC team only had 11 players starting from any part of Florida, let alone SFL

Like @Memnon says on here constantly keep recruiting nationally

It should have never gotten to the point he was allowed to run the defense. Anyone with a brain knew the syracuse game was going to be a bear. Cam gave the team a 21 point lead and the defense couldn';t hold on.

Ga Tech was a failure on all of the staff. They simply got out coached
You are 100% correct and this is how opposing teams recruit against us because Mario does not have the football acumen to day game game coach. You don't have to be a football guru to see how pathetic Mario is on the field. ALL THE RECRUITS SEE THIS AND THE OPPOSING COACHES just to beat the drum on this topic!

I thought we hired a CEO type coach?

I mean half you insiders say we are very professionally run and especially recently have upgraded a lot of aspects of our approach AND that even Dennis Smith had already received a big demotion.... yet half say stuff like this, and then EVERY single time anything negative happens in recruiting you will see a "Dennis Sniff Sucks" type of response....

So no I don't think it is a fact or anything that we are more poorly run than USC lol. In fact If I were betting, I'd definitely bet we are better run than they are. I guess we will see if their recruiting class falls apart like it did last year and when their GM guy was at ND when their class fell apart as well... I mean maybe with all the NIL changes this year and how contracts will run, mabye getting ALL those guys on board asap does end up working in their favor this year. It didn't last year though. And it didn't when that dude was at ND either....
On point one, that’s because that’s what we were told. Then reality happened and he’s still doing the same ****.

I’m not really sure I understand what you said… Bowden helped construct a team that played for the natty last year and is a top ten team going into the season…

Also fck UF and ND. I’m just trying to be an object Miami / CFB fan

I think its important for miami to start the portal + recruiting combo ranking spin cycle, its relevant, important, and we must be near the top of that metric

its good damage control right now, PR, and real

I guess we are just talking about high school here but the two philosophies should show this year. I would say if portal counts it's not even close. We landed the number 1 pick in the draft and now a QB who is top 5-10. If Lagway pans out for UF then it could be even or a win for them if we don't have equal production after Beck. As far as this year they had the better HS class and we had the better portal. Time will tell. I would still rather be using than them though.
Yeah I was speaking strictly from a high school recruiting ranking standpoint because I thought that’s what this thread was about

3 of our 4 best players last season were from the portal so from a macro view then yes

Arguably Cam/Martinez/Barrow/X for reference were my top 4 from last year
