Teams know the way to stop our offense is to drop back into zone and give us everything underneath. They bank on us making mistakes or growing impatient and forcing the issue down the field — see what TVD yesterday.

It’s not fun or easy to put together 10+ play drives and have to go the length of the field to score, but until we prove that we can do that consistently and not shoot ourselves in the foot, I expect teams to follow the UVA and GT playbook.

Going forward, our game plan should be simple: continue to run the ball and take your 5 yard outs and hitches to make the defense bring those safeties and corners up. Then, and only then, will we be able to air it out deep. UVA was giving George and Young an insane cushion and we just refused to stay patient enough to force them to adjust.

It’s not going to be the exciting offense most on this board are clamoring for, but it’s obvious we struggle with zone because TVD is a head case. Dawson needs to emphasize our cover 2/3/4 zone beaters and tell Tyler we don’t need it all on one play. Teams want him to get irritated and take risks; don’t fall for the trap. Take what they give you and we will win. Let the OL set the tone and let’s kick NC State’s ***.

The book has been out literally since the first game of the season when miami ohio did it. They just didn't have enough good players to execute it at a high level. Just have to hope these next 3 teams are arrogant enough to play us man like Texas a&m did. Its also where tvd's lack of mobility hurts him because if you can extend the play it makes it easier to find holes in those zones.

Our offense is slowly losing tempo and spacing, less motion and more bunched formations. The TE is invisible. No vertical threat. No screen plays or stretch plays to get our athletic OL moving outside and up field.

This is on Mario imo. He’s been breathing down Dawson’s neck once we got into conference play. Let’s revert back to the 80’s and 90’s and play smash mouth fizical football baby.

Cocaine Kiffin would be 8-0 with this team. Trounced GT by 25. Currently 7-1 in the SEC. Recruiting class is in a similar ballpark plus he’d get a slight Miami bump.

Don’t we have this massive and athletic offensive line filled with dudes who can pull all over the field in the run game?

If so, would it be possible to run one (1) screen to help get a player who can run fast in space with big humans in front of him?
We called more screens last week than we have in the past two years. We should play with TVD like we do with Emory

TVD looks confused like he's taking an advanced calculus test sitting in the pocket. Until further notice the game plan should be to get the ball out of his hands as quickly as possible in the pass game with occasional 1 on 1 deep shots if they're there.
Because he’s locking on to his high reads, which the defense is taking away.

He knows his draft stock is plummeting and he’s forcing the ball down the field to compensate. He is assuming pro scouts don’t want to see him checking the ball down all night. The solution is to take what the defense is giving him, and eventually, you will see guys getting open deep. We just gotta preach patience.

The slow, grinding offensive pace is definitely a Mario trademark. This is what Oregon fans complained about.

I had my eyes covered a lot but didn’t TVD miss a few of these yesterday as well?

That’s the most baffling thing to me. We have tunnel and bubble screens, but we rarely run anything out of the backfield to our RBs.

I’m starting suspect Dawson and Mario would prefer to limit how many times TVD throws..

And that’s why if feels like they are forcing the run at times.. they don’t trust dude..
Hard to trust a guy that is pre-determining where he wants to go with the ball. This isn’t high school — you can’t do that crap anymore.

Agreed!! 💯
And I saw what you did there…🥸 🍚🔑

The int to Restrepo he just underthrew him. He was open and it would have been a TD, he just missed. I don't think all of a sudden it's a different offense. We just need TVD to perform at a higher level. Hopefully he breaks his slump because I doubt he is getting pulled right now.

We said this during the GTech game. I was watching with @TheOriginalCane and our biggest concern late in the game (expecting a win at that point) was that every future opponent would run a zone defense and force TVD to throw into windows, which he does not do nearly as well as throw against man to man.

We don’t need an exciting offense, we need a winning offense which means grinding it out til the 4th quarter when our Oline has an advantage in the running game and having the willingness to punt the ball because it is a lot better than an INT.
All our QB’s have to do is NOT THROW INT’S and we will win another 2-3 games.
