The best offensive line in America

I have a feeling they were more concerned about ND’s secondary than the DL. The gameplan was very conservative, which is understandable too. I’d like to see Dawson let Beck open it up a little more, giving him the freedom to change a run call to a pass if needed. Having a QB that can reliably do that at the last second is huge.
I was concerned w WRs
And that was laid to rest
There wasn’t a ton of separation except Toney
But I give ND secondary credit
They were sticky….and got away w holds
But I’m pretty confident Beck gonna start slinging it

Didn’t see the game but on the highlights it looked like Beck was under pressure on the TD throws - especially to DJ.

So those were 2 of the 4?

Outstanding OL performance. We couldn’t we run on them in the 4th? Were they stacking the box?

Go Canes!!

Imo
They will be best we play on schedule
Until acc title and playoffs

I agree. But we always seem to lose to at least one ACC team we should easily beat. Syracuse or Georgia Tech each year.

SMU could be that ACC team this year.

I hope this is finally the year we win the games we are supposed to

go Canes!!

While OL was good last night…

Dawson didn’t help them when everyone knew what the play was going to be…

He has to mix it up more which will help OL more…

I think Dawson is heavily influenced by Mario in terms of running dives down the middle/right side. It’d be awesome if they mixed the running game up a little to catch people off guard, but I put the running scheme on Mario. I think it might be something we have to live with.

One thing that stood out to me, when ND knew we were going to run, we were decently successful. That’s a big one for me! That gives me hope for this season!

I think they played well, but like everyone, they have some things to clean up. ND didn't throw a lot at them. ND had a sack, multiple pressures and tackles for losses. 2 playoff trenches on both sides of the ball for both teams. Yes, Miami's OL played very well.
LOL, if you consider the number 2 multiple tackles for loss then you are correct. I would call two a couple . To be clear ND had 2 TFLs.

I understand what you are saying. But I think the weather and the fact it was his first game back after the injury with new WR, etc played a part in some of that. I think he'll grow now that this hurdle is over....
That and I think Beck will only run if the drive absolutely needs him to. He knows the ball in his playmakers hands downfield is more valuable than in his hands running down field.

He will always take what the defense gives him and look to make the right play.

Last night staying in the pocket to make plays gave us the Toney and CJ TDs. He escapes and runs for 7 or 9 and we have potentially a different ball game

Bell got whooped plenty tonight. He’s still a weak link on that line
I know they changed the juco rules a bit but if he can I think coming back another year would do him good. Cantwell can find a spot and not be a starting freshman tackle maybe?

I thought our OnLine played great. The play calling did them no favours as all 66,700 of us in the stadium knew we were running the ball on **** near every important play.

I think Beck will learn to trust his protection more and more as the season goes on and our WR's will find space.

I thought fletcher and brown ran very well considering the play calling. Very few plays those boys won't get you at least 3-4 yards after contact. Where that ends up depends on where they get contacted.

I was hoping Lyle would be the guy this year. Shame he got hurt because the other two aren't going to break one and I think that limited the play book and impacted the play calling significantly.

Just an observation, not a criticism...

Beck might want to add a touch more spice to his game with a little more scrambling for yards of gain.

Some chunks were left out there when the throw wasn't available.

To me, biggest difference between Carson and Cam under center last night.

While not perfect, he made some big boy throws all game.
He used his legs a lot at UGA. I do agree that is a component we could use. I would like to see him pull one RPO (similar to why nussmeir did) and run for a big gain, he’s more athletic.
