The Bank (7/2)

- On the football side, there is huge confidence from those observing workouts. They believe this is the best, most complete roster we've had in the Cristobal era by a good amount. I continue to hear rave reviews about Carson Beck's arm talent and overall skillset.

July is when I start to get excited for the football season and this update is music to my ears. 😍
We finally have a bunch of "Do you mind if we dance wif yo dates" lookin' dudes in the locker room. This is going to pay big dividends.

How can you possibly be more efficient than first in America by a full yard on a per play basis and one of the 5 best on 3rd down of the last decade?

If the offense is “more efficient” this season, Shannon Dawson might be the head coach of the Dolphins next year. It’s just incredibly, almost impossibly unlikely.

Doesn’t mean it can’t/won’t be very good and good enough to win the ACC. But we gotta be real here. The offense last year was borderline historic. We got almost 8 yards every time we snapped the football. Sure, a lot of that was due to explosives but the efficiency was other-worldly. There’s a massive chance that comes back to earth a little bit this year.

The key to this season will be the defense, and how well Beck protects the ball. If he only throws 7 picks all year like Cam did, and the defense can get into the top 30–40 nationally, it’ll be a really successful year.
There was a massive gap between Miami and the second-best offense. That’s not likely to happen again for a while.

I expect the offense to be worse and it will be very difficult for Beck to replace Cam. But the offense and Beck can still be really, really good.

Any usage of “more” or “better” or even any hint of someone saying our offense will be an improvement in any way shape or form is just cope and should be burned and buried in a field somewhere so as it can never be seen or heard from again

I am very bullish on Dawson being able to put up numbers. He did it with TVD/George/Henry Parrish etc he can absolutely do it with this group

But people just don’t read your statistic threads or let it sink in what our offense actually pulled off last year

the only thing that matters is your record. Care less what unit was ranked where last year. They failed as a team and so did the coaches. Doesn't matter how it looks this year in getting to the CFP. The Mario era begins to die if they don't. Year 4 people.

I bet you hit “post reply” and felt really good about this

Yeah everyone here has the memory of a goldfish except when we talk about stuff that happened 30 years ago and how it should be relevant today. Fascinating phenomenon.

I keep going back to 2023‘s offense and imagining that with Beck and not TVD. We had WRs (who were unproven, as Colbie Young has most returning production to enter 2023) getting open in
Dawsons offense and we had a 190 RB who ran a 4.7 40 and couldn’t break a tackle averaging 6.3 per carry.

It’ll look different but we can eat offensively next year.

You consider going 7-6 as a winning season?

I mean…I'm not proud of it either. But it seems to fit the definition right?

I mean if you said "good season", "10 (or **** even 8) win season", "successful season"…Honest to god I wouldn't have said a word

Simple stuff here.

He chose the DC and his staff. After he chose the previous DC and his staff. He chose the high school and portal players. It falls back on him at this point. Some of you guys on here, and I don’t know that’s you so don’t please personalize it, but some guys here are running out of previous staffs and circumstances to blame.
True and the defense still F’ED US EVERY WHICHW WAY BUT LOOSE.

Thanks. However we have heard many times that miami's roster is the most complete one since..... until it actually happens on the field and translates to W's and a major bowl win, I will hold and reserve my judgment.

My hope is we beat Notre Dame and the gators and win the acc to maybe finish at an elite level in recruiting by the end of year. Go canes!
Seems thats the only way it will happen.

Serious question for @DMoney

What happened? We had a lot of momentum just 2 weeks ago with the commitments of Briggs, Charles, Spafford, Evans etc. We were also trending very positively for guys like Kolojay, James Johnson, Devin Jackson, Blake Stewart, etc. it looked like we were on our way to a top 5 or maybe even top 3 class

How did things change so quickly? Did NIL dry up? Is this just a stretch of bad luck? Did we prioritize the wrong guys? Now we are the rumored favorite for absolutely zero of our top remaining targets (except Cooper, and that recruitment has suddenly gotten very ominous). I’m not buying the whole “they only want the SEC bro” or “we need to prove it on the field” explanations. That didn’t stop us from assembling a very good to elite class through the 3rd week of June. How did the momentum instantly dry up? How did our strategy instantly go to “we’re waiting on late season flips” mode?

I’m genuinely perplexed to how things got so bleak so quickly when no other factors apparently changed.
