The creating issues with the roster mention…

…is simply this. Overpay to get (x) player in now. Word travels to key player(s) in the position group of that high school player. Spur conversations of “why is he getting that amount of money. It’s more than me and I’m the starter!”
That’s not unique to Miami though, every school faces that in the NIL area. It’s just an excuse and spin.

Obviously I want to continue to add some whales but this is a **** good start with 19 commits in July. If we can go into fall camp with us leading for Cooper, flipping Jennings, securing Kolojay's commitment, that would be really solid imo. In the NIL era, it is definitely harder to flip guys late but it still happens... Moore flipped from LSU to Oregon, Haywood flipped from Bama to Michigan.

Biggest worry is WR and DT right now.. those are premium positions and we seem to be striking out on the elite guys there.

Best line is the update is that people think this is our most complete roster and Beck is ripping it up.

Once again. Winning is the #1 recruiter
100%. It's unrealistic to expect a top 5 class when Georgia/Bama/LSU/Oregon/OSU/etc have similar money as us but much more team success over these kids' lifetime. We have to keep stacking 10+ win seasons to be able to stack top 5 classes (I know, chicken and egg). Last year was a great start. The fact we get top 10ish classes with limited on the field success is impressive to me.

Counterpoint: All these kids are in our backyard and we hired Mario to recruit. F***ing recruit.

- On the football side, there is huge confidence from those observing workouts. They believe this is the best, most complete roster we've had in the Cristobal era by a good amount. I continue to hear rave reviews about Carson Beck's arm talent and overall skillset.
Got so caught up in recruiting I almost forgot they played games. This paragraph fired me up - I'm ready to snort all the preseason hype.

Texas caused Cooper to move the commit date.

Brown was never coming here just like Keys. The truly elite Deep South kids aren’t leaving the SEC.
Moving the commit date doesn't automatically eliminate Georgia but I'm sure for Texas had to really drop a crazy unexpected bag for this to happen at all

Hard to see an attention seeking kid like Keys not wanting to play in the media darling league that is the SEC.

I still think hes a Cane in the end but him pushing the date was to OV in season to Texas more than UGA doing anything.

He should be visiting all the schools in season to get as much out of the process as possible.

I’m old enough to remember Cantwell being penciled in to Oregon for the same thing
Tbh at this point just filling some of the major needs left is all I care about, not the class ranking. Get me Cooper, Kolojay, and find me another DT, WR, and a decent safety. Needing the latter spots next year in the portal won't be too much compared to years past where we needed 10-15 spots filled.
