Translation : don’t expect any of the big fish committing in July.. our momentum is pretty much gone.
Or, to get all of those big fish she may have to raise the NIL budget for the existing players - in July - by 25% to keep them happy.

Dmoney, I know the answer to this but how much is not being in the SEC and BIG hurting our recruiting efforts?

I’m not trying to make excuses for the recruiting, our class is solid right now but with the money we have involved in recruiting I feel like this is a major issue.

You land cooper and Jennings before the season and that is a tremendous class locked up before games are played. There are still a ton of what the **** are we doing positions (DT,LB,S) but if cooper and Jennings are canes before the season that’s the best class on paper prior to season that I can remember.

I still have massive concerns about the overall roster construction and plan by the recruiting department. And I will continue to scream from the mountain tops that Mario needs top 3 level classes to be a threat vs the top 8-15 level class purgatory it appears we’re falling into

The creating issues with the roster mention…

…is simply this. Overpay to get (x) player in now. Word travels to key player(s) in the position group of that high school player. Spur conversations of “why is he getting that amount of money. It’s more than me and I’m the starter!”
Exactly. For example: Mauigoa vs Cantwell.

There's no way we should be paying Cantwell more in 2026 than we're paying Mauigoa in 2025. So the cost of getting Cantwell also increases the cost of keeping Mauigoa happy.

Now you apply that same process throughout the roster and acquiring lots of 5* talent becomes very expensive.

I think this is our hardest thing to recruit against personally. Not wins or development, but this. You see it with kids comitting to lesser SEC schools instead of going to better ACC schools all the time.

@DMoney does this mean Cooper trending to UGA ? I already figured Keys & Russell are a no go but now Lamar Brown & Kolojay too ? At this point give me Cooper, Redding, and flip Jennings. Hope to have a good year and get another S, DT, and WR while the games are played.

You may not be fluent in D$. Let me offer some assistance...

"Continue to get confidence" = we still lead, but other schools (like Texas) are not going away and pushing.

"Less confidence... will push to the end" = he almost certainly isn't coming, but we'll keep desperately trying to a hail Mary flip.

"Nobody knows... up in the air" = feels like nother local top WR we lose, but he’s playing games so we can't be sure.

"Continuing his process... very professional" = there won't be a commit soon. Kid is going to up the bidding war and then go to the biggest bag. Might be us.

"Good chance to flip" = not the forgone conclusion people have been expecting, but I still think he ends up in this class.

"Still communicating" = he's listening to offers, but he ain't coming.

"Trending away" = he gone.

"In the mix... up in the air... decided over the next few days" = offers and counters are still going out. We upped our initial offer after missing on some DL. Waiting to see how others respond.

Texas caused Cooper to move the commit date.

Brown was never coming here just like Keys. The truly elite Deep South kids aren’t leaving the SEC.

Guys rarely flip anymore in the NIL era. No clue why the staff would be banking on that
Yeah and what happened to the "get guys signed to huge NIL deals before the house settlement kicks in?" Is what it is, seems like we got over confident on a few guys and just need to battle it out. Is what it is, still likely a top 10 class regardless but we should be top 5.

7-11 isn’t good enough for this staff.
Until we can prove we can consistently develop quality NFL, I think that will realistically be the range we'll be in ranking-wise. On paper, we have a lot of talent on this roster. However, we've gotten to a point where we need to hit on a lot of these players. If we can't develop our talent, none of this matters at all
