Sorry but we have 3 DT that can contribute. Jones and Russell POSSIBLY. A freshman maybe can play similar to Simpson. The good news is the numbers are higher this year. IMO we need one DT and one DE.

Blount is in the mix for both but he looks more like a DE. At DE, we need Lightfoot and Picket to keep adding weight. Get to 245lbs and they likely can help out as every down DE. Scroggins, Lowe, Charles, Blount, Lightfoot, Picket get us close.

I think that’s exactly the point I’m trying to make. That we know we have 3 contributors, and we feel good about Stancil’s prospects. But it all hinges on one of the three you listed to pop. And no one knows how they will pan out so it’s a crap shoot with those three. Even if all of that comes to fruition like we hope, we still need an impact DT in the portal.

And hopefully we only need one because I agree that we need a strong DE just as badly.

If we can bring Moten back to pair with Scott backed up by Simpson, one of Jones/Russell/Newton, a portal DT plus Stancil (I think he will see the field next year) then that’s 6 contributors inside that we can depend on. The rest is gravy.

What about the DE possibly DT from Alabama who missed most of the season? He got some time as a freshman.

With the way the current freshman class is playing and have developed, I fully trust our staff.

And we do have a 5* DL coming in next year…..Hayden Lowe. Can’t forget about him and his return.

He would have played big minutes this year. Likely ahead of Lightfoot according to people that know more than me

Blount and Lightfoot are a good start. Lowe and Charles could be elite but how many kids at that age can start or handle many snaps. Give me one nfl day 3 with a high ceiling and let Jason bump him up the boards
