That was Miami style defense.

McCord is still covering Slot WR's.

This enraged me

He's an outside linebacker.

What should have enraged you is watching McCord constantly run himself wide and out of the play, leaving the qb a huge lane to escape.
Everyone here lauds McCord's first step, and it is impressive, but there's a reason he's 2nd-3rd string. He's a bit like Ray Buchanon.
He will have one splash play out of 20 reps, and the other 19 times he will be running fast in the wrong direction.

lmao sure blame it on the players...just a coincidence that all of our star players coming out of high school (who were recruited by all the big dogs Alabama, fsu,uf,etc) become 2nd and 3rd string when they get here playing behind walkons and 2star "team first"guys

The point you ****heads are missing is that it's the APPROACH that is exciting, not just the yardage or whatever else. The mentality was different.

The defensive approach last night was more Miami-like than anything we've done previously.

If you wanna say that we're gonna resort back to our old ways against another opponent, by all means. I'm betting that we stay this way.

Macho appreciate the point of your thread.

It's the people like weown and sadchise who want to ruin this site..

If you're gonna be enraged, be enraged that McCord is playing OLB and not DE.

Don't be enraged by a OLB lined-up over a slot WR. That's normal.

If McCord was a starting Defensive End, the other team, no matter who they were, would run at him every single snap.
He's a 236 pound defensive end who is still learning how to be a linebacker.
He has tremendous physical ability, but he is still as raw as can be.
He occasionally makes great plays, but it's the other plays where he constantly runs upfield 5 yards past the qb that hurt us, and hurt him.
You still have to set that edge, especially when **** near every qb we face is a dual threat.

thats the whole point, i dont care if he is listed at cornerback, i just dont want to see his *** in coverage point blank period.

like? And you do know that typically the LB does line up on the slot

Regardless, if the play calls for whatever position he is playing at the time to be in coverage, they need to scratch that sht.

Did you see him man to man with the slot? Because when hes in "coverage" hes going to the flat which is the easiest place to cover, and you would be surprised how many teams run their DE/LB to that coverage

Macho is truly a weird dude. He's all into Dono now. Very insecure dude.

No just tired of insecure losers flooding the board. That's all you boys can do.

I find it hilarious.. Keep that seinfeld **** coming.

like? muhammad, chad thomas, mccord last couple of years, deon bush, tracy howard....do i keep going?? how about the feared starting tandem of aj highsmith and kacey rodgers? how about berrios getting so much playing time (more than fkin coley)? and trent harris over muhammad, chad thomas, etc.... thats just off the top of my head. just a coincidence all these 4/5stars forget how to play football and lose their talent when they get here.

idgaf where the linebacker is lined up, mccord doesnt need to be in fkin coverage, he needs to be attacking, simple concept not hard to understand.

If this defense can run defend like this against Nebraska it bodes well for the rest of the year- that will be a measuring stick. FAU will represent more of a challenge to the defense this FRI we will see how it goes. Very early to fully judge the D but it looked very together last night.

All those guys played lol, we rotate a lot on defense everyone plays, tracy started his second year so did deon so, chad is a sophomore and he played a good amount of snaps, i agree with the highsmith and kacy rogers part, but deon was hurt a lot that year, and berrios had a more productive year than coley, and players like mccord do go into coverage yall see it once and assume we do it all the time lol, gregory went in coverage a lot so did fowler

I hope he doesn't suck as badly at coaching high school as he does following his own "arguments."

His team lost 12-2 to MacArthur this week lmao.

I'm not on the staff, ****, I just help out occasionally. Last time I coached against MacArthur my defense didn't allow a 1st down the whole game.
Have fun sitting on your couch though.

So you aren't even good enough At coaching football to be a full time coach at a school that lost 12-2 to The MacArthur Mustangs?

That's exactly what it is, bro! I mean, it couldn't possibly have anything to do with other priorities that I currently have going on in my life, right?! It's simply that I'm not good enough to coach anywhere. I went from having the 9th ranked defense in Broward last year to not even being able to find a coaching position this year. I forgot everything that I knew from all those years of producing top-10 defenses during my past positions at Western.

True or false, you are apart of a coaching staff that lost 12-2 to MacArthur?

What really impressed me was our secondary.

Another game where you don't even see Tracy Howard, which is a good thing.

the attacks come from a guy who thinks Caoch D, not Golden decides the defense.

they shouldnt be in rotation. we should have our best players in the game at all times, only coming out to get a breather. golden is always playing with the depth chart, he overthinks it and outsmarts himself. its simple, best players play regardless of all that other bs.

lol at comparing berrios to coley. coley is 1000 times the player berrios will ever be. our coaches are the reason berrios had a more productive year than coley. they love berrios, meanwhile they are clueless when it comes to coley who is obviously our most talented receiver. yet to see whats so special about berrios. good kid, and true cane, but cmon now, he is not on the same planet as coley.

mccord in coverage wouldnt bother me so much if it wasnt for the dumbasses running our defense. they are clueless and dont know what they are doing. they are not maximizing and mismanaging mccords talent (as they have done with many others) and i have no reason to believe they suddenly know what theyre doing. so when i see mccord in coverage, its the same ol sht different year. (by the way, its not just mccord, al is known for sending dlineman out in coverage on a regular basis)

The coaches didn't make Berrios better than Coley last year.
Coley might have been the worst starting wr in college football last year. He was that bad.

For some reason you think McCord is Lawrence Taylor, who happened to drop into coverage a lot.

He's not. He's a great athlete, with a wicked first step, but he's still pretty much clueless as a pass rusher and a linebacker.
As a defensive end he would get mauled.
As a linebacker he's just average, and as a pass rusher he's just ok because he only has one move, and that move takes him out of the play the majority of the time leaving a huge hole in our defense.

For people that don't understand defensive concepts. Sometimes the Sam backer will be aligned
Over the slot back. He is not covering him 1 on 1, maybe rerouting him and dropping curl/flat.

Watch KC Chiefs and you'll see Justin Houston lining up there sometimes.

And as far as DT's dropping in coverage - it's called zone-blitz and you're bringing extra men from
One side and the DT helps with any cros/slants/hooks over the middle.

I'm not a fan of the way our D has performed the last few years, but those are standard concepts that
You will see in a 3-4 hybrid D.

If I was a DC at Miami I would prefer the 4-2-5 based on the talent we choose from, but our D is what
it is.
