That was Miami style defense.

I love the cats that complain about our SAM linebacker "covering" slot receivers. Flexing out, being 1x2 inside shade is not "covering" a receiver. Maybe you gentlemen should define covering for us.

Syracuse also shut out their opponent, Rhode Island 47-0, and held them under 70 yards. Oh, and they also managed to put up over 400 yards of offense.

I'm sure The Orangemen are in for a great season!

Yea but Bethune is a winning program and won the MEAC last year still saying that I don't trust these coaches mane

They don't know anything about football. They think because a LB is out there that he's "covering" the WR.

LULZ at bragging about yardage totals in a 50 minute game against Bethune Cookman. This is like an Onion article.

When's the last time we held anybody to a 80-150 yardage total?

Anybody!

So because our defense has sucked for the last couple of years, that makes this some type of accomplishment?? i guess its progress lmao same way we went from 90th to "15th" in defense. same way a team can go from 0-12 to 3-9 "man whens the last time we won 3 games?? this is awesome!!" lmao Man we have some ****** expectations. thats nothing to be proud of, especially considered who we were playing. i guess when your defense blows as bad as ours anything is progress lmao

"We held UNC to their lowest...."
"This Duke game - now that was a Miami defense!"
"We smothered Va Tech. Old Canes D is back!"

People really didn't learn their lesson in 2014 when everyone was patting each other on the back during the last "I swear to god this defense turned the corner. This is the Miami defense of old" epidemic?

Fair enough. It'll make for good bumping material in a few weeks.
This guy gets it. It's like our fanbase is comprised almost entirely of alzheimer patients.

SMH. It's not an accomplishment, it's progress.

Everybody wanted to see more 1-gap penetration and a more aggressive approach in coverage and that's what we got last night.

The defense couldn't have played any better last night. Last year we probably give up some points and twice as much yardage to a similar opponent.

We gave up 79 yards of offense. If we played a 60 minute game maybe we give up somewhere in the low 100's. (or maybe we create more turnovers)

I don't know what more you guys wanted to see from the defense. Even our good defensive teams wouldn't have done much better last night. We played about as well as a defense could.

Like who? FAMU? The team we gave up 124 yards and 7 points to?

JJ'sHair is right. You guys all are suffering alzheimer's or CTE.

FAMU had 124 yards on us last year. MAJOR DEFENSEIVE PROGRESS!

FAMU won 3 games last year.

You asked when the last time we held anybody to 80-150 yards and I told you. You even emphasized anybody. Now you're trying to argue about the quality of an FCS opponent. LMAO.

The defense played extremely well last night. I don't think many of us are saying otherwise. What we are skeptical of is whether we sill see that same aggressive style of defense when we face better opponents. As WhatTheHell pointed out earlier in this thread, we saw flashes of it for a couple of games (or halfs of football) last year only to see the team revert back to a super conservative approach the following week (you can march up and down the field as you please -- but we'll be damned if you are going to beat us with a low percentage deep ball!!!).

I fought a 6 month old baby this morning. I looked dominant in dismantling her. Slapped that soft spot until she tapped out.

Pretty sure I redeemed myself at the playground from that sucker punch loss I took to that 6 year old last year. Everyone was cooing when I was putting it down on that little bytch this morning.

I hope he doesn't suck as badly at coaching high school as he does following his own "arguments."

The point is he shouldnt be doing anything else besides attacking and rushing the dam qb. why the **** would you put someone with his talent/skill set in that position in the first place? he doesnt need to be coveriing sht not the wr not the dam middle not no dam zone none of that. use somebody else for that sht. maybe if this wasnt folden's MO it wouldnt be such a big deal. the problem is we know that he has no clue what he is doing with the defense.

I held a 10 year old to zero points in a pick up game this morning. I've NEVER shut out anybody before. I'm on my way to becoming Jordan in no time.

These idiots don't know that you need to be an elite level coach to understand that a LB chasing around a slot receiver technically doesn't qualify as "covering him."

Us Xs and Os gurus know what's really going on out there. The other ninwits just trust their eyes.

I get your point, but I'd be hesitant to call it "progress" against bethune frekin cookman. ill call it progress when we do it against a team with a pulse. we have seen this movie before. all he did was bully a high school team when he plays a real team all that agressive crap is going out the window

This team goes undefeated if defense plays aggressive. Bookmark it biach

I agree, although not quite completely with the undefeated part. I say if the defense plays aggressive like they did last night for the rest of this season we win at least 3, possibly 4 more games.
