I’ve been saying this for a month, and some posters have gotten butt hurt over it.
Mario is a micro-manager of all things. Hence why he asked for total and absolute control over the entire program before he agreed to come to Miami.
I’ve said it til I’m blue in the face, Mario is a great evaluator of talent and a phenomenal recruiter, but that’s where it ends. He should have hired a modern day genius as OC and another one as DC, let them bring in their own dudes, and got the fugg out the way.
He can still do so and succeed. But he needs to accept his failures first, pick himself up, and then do what must be done.
It’s definitely a MAJOR red flag that he knew of Gattis’s propensity for recruits mothers and about the dysfunction at Michigan, and he still hired him.
As
@Liberty City El stated, Gattis was never a fit here, and this was obvious to most of us that asked questions during the off-season regarding the type of offense that he would run.
We were repeatedly lied to and told that he would run a wide open offense that would be balanced. That nobody should be concerned about his Wing-T influenced offense. People were ridiculed for being extremely concerned, so in hindsight, I don’t know why anyone is shocked with the horrendous results.
