TAC x Patke Interaction

11. 3:30 seconds left in the 2nd quarter. 2 and 14 and ran right by Flagg for the 1st down

Both Flagg and Jennings got smoked on plays. Ragone made a nice tackle but got beat on other limited snaps. I am 100% sure Whipple and Pickett would have picked him apart if he had stayed in the game.

These guys just aren’t able to play at this level. It’s not a knock on them it’s a knock on the coaches.

There is no reason for Ragone to be covering the middle on a game deciding drive or at any point of a game. NONE.

Some posters are talking about how Patke may be better than we see because he’s limited by the head coach. That may be true. But even though we got lucky with a guy like Banda who proved he was a good coach over time, Miami should never need to take those risks.

Hire a known baller as a coach like TRob or Likens and your floor is top quartile ACC. A program like this should always take experienced proven position coaches. That way you avoid the John Richts and Rumohs of the world. I personally think Patke worse than Rumph was, it’s debatable. But why even put ourselves in this position?

I’ll they care about is the whining player. At this point the staff is tying to do everything possible to win( which they should have done from the jump) if he is not playing now he can’t be that great. I wanted to see him too.

Patke is the weakest link on a staff full of weak links but good lord at the assumption that some of these fringe guys are world beaters. There's a reason why TAC doesn't play and my guess would be we'd be wailing on him for his shortcomings if he did get more snaps

Tirek isn't. Clealy, some FR are doing in practice more than enough to get reps. Again, Tirek isn't. The idea that there may be some conspiracy against Tirek but not against all the other 1st year players that have played this year logically doesn't add up.

You're still giving them too much credit.
Another very viable answer for why TAC (or anyone else) is not playing is the fact this staff doesn't know how to accurately evaluate its own players. Considering a lot of the guys replacing injured players seem to be outplaying those injured players, it's definitely a possibility.

The "conspiracy theory" has always been a strawman argument. It's not a conspiracy and only a handful of insane people have ever claimed it is. Patke and Manny are just corches doing corchy things.
Forget being a world beater or starter... that's another strawman. He had ZERO snaps. Is he better than Jennings for 7 snaps or Ragone for 5 snaps? That's the question these corches have probably gotten the wrong answer to.

The coaches are trying to ruin the roster as much as possible for the next coaching staff. None of our linebackers with a hint of athleticism (Brooks, TAC, Huff, Chase Smith) can get on the field over other players who are proven liabilities. Now I know Huff seems to be a lost cause, and Brooks needs a prosthetic foot, but TAC and Smith have looked promising and don't get any snaps. Also, has anyone heard anything about Tyler Johnson? I assume he's redshirting but would love to get him on the field now in the last 4 games in some capacity. Anything to get the slow guys off the field.

Exactly. Recent history shows these two (and Baker) are afraid to take personnel risks and lean on what they know.

Steed and Keontra are unquestionably our best LBers and both would have gained valuable experience rotating in last year. But instead Keontra was made a backup to Gil at Striker, and Steed got only a few dozen snaps the whole season. He was rusty as **** to start this year and we were still starting friggin Jennings. If we had rotated those two in last year at the position along with Cave, maybe they would have been our starters going into Bama or Michigan State, and would have been solid enough by the UVa or UNC games to help us win them?

We do not play the best players, we play the ones who make the least mistakes. But that's a vicious circle because how do you learn to correct those mistakes without playing? It's a balance, I get it. But Manny consistently gets the formula wrong.

Tirek Austin Cave, kid from NJ that Patke recruited. He should be on the field. no logical reason why he isn't getting any snaps
Guess Manny only applied the play the more talented young guys over experienced jags to 5* recruits....we can't afford to lose LB talent....barren enough as it is

If you're giving this abortion of a staff a pass for anything, you should probably review your credentials as a fan that is out here POSTING ON MESSAGE BOARDS.

If you're a casual that just keeps up with UM, maybe you could be duped. But if you're the type that reads and posts on boards, there is zero reason for any defense of these *** clowns.

You are missing the larger point. You are trying to parse and analyze based on the flawed premise this staff is using the correct methodology to evaluate these kids in practice.

This staff has a three year track record of having to be dragged into playing the babies, and usually only to cover their asses after losses, so it's not like we can trust that they are making the right calls, even if everything is even.

Honestly, you can see it on game days. They coach ******* scared. We punted inside opponent territory during a shootout this week, and that was AFTER we decided not to try to steal a field goal before halftime when the offense was rolling, we had timeouts, etc. They are risk averse to the point of insanity, and they are a couple of drops and a missed safety call from being 2-6...at which point we wouldn't even be having this debate, because no one would be confusing short term results with long term vision when it comes to things like playing time decisions.

Diaz stinks. I wanted him to work out, because on paper I want someone who can use analytics, embrace modern football and overall be less of a meathead football-brain chud...and that's what Manny promised. I want our Brandon Staley. And now I have watched him coach 30+ games for us and we stink. We lost to FIU. Do you really think a dude that lost to FIU and then, in the grand scheme of things, changed effectively nothing about his approach can be trusted on any playing time decisions at this point?
Man all that you typed don’t mean ****. There’s been plenty of 1st and 2nd year players that have seen the field with this same staff for one reason or another. TAC hasn’t been one of them. That’s more of an indictment on him. I best Flagg couldn’t keep Justin Flowe off the field. Manny is the same dude who started Shaq and Pinckney as freshman. I want Manny gone like everyone else, but stop with the short sighted bull****. Flagg started LAST year as a freshman. So y’all just have a problem with WHICH “babies” he’s putting in the field?

44 may be the worst LB I've ever seen in College Football. And 11 is good if they running it right at him. He's like an old school, in the box, Mike LB. If the offense is running wider than C gap, or passing the ball, and he's in man.... he's a liability. He couldn't even run with the Pitt QB. A Univ. of Miami LB getting outrun to the edge, by a **** QB, not named M. Vick, or L. Jackson, is horrible.
