TAC x Patke Interaction

The flip side to this coin is that I think it's incredibly selfish to do that publicly after a big team win. As a player you know the kids father has access to speak to coaches....wrong place and wrong time IMO

True, but if you re-read OP post, it does not sound like it went down like that. TAC came out, saw his pops, they were talking and OP assumed they were upset, it was just father and son talk, then Patke came out and pulled dad to the side to talk, likely to try and calm him down, and pops went off on Patke.

Who knows what was said, maybe pops is just animated when he speaks, but it didn't sound like pops sought after Patke, but that Patke came to him. If Patke told him some BS, or lied, then dad's reaction was likely genuine. Let's see if he starts to get snaps this week or if he is like brooks and is just M.I.A.

I know it's a message board, but engaging in this speculation is silly.

Equally silly is somehow believing that a guy that can't get on the field is somehow better than the folks in front of him. This coaching staff doesn't get the benefit of the doubt, but the likelihood is that he's not doing in practice what he ought to be doing to get PT.

The fair criticism is why guys like Huff, Austin-Cave, etc. haven't seemed to improve. Whether that's on Manny or Patke (likely both) I don't know.
Oh really. Why in the last 2 weeks we saw changes at other positions. If you read the Spring and Fall Camp accolades from Patke and Diaz on Austin-Cave it's hard to believe that it is performance related.

Secondly, the guys in front of him are making mistakes in games and physically can't make some of the plays that need to be made. Where is their accountability? If #11 and #44 were performing at a high level or even average level, this thread wouldn't exist.

You have an athletic MLB with plenty of upside that can't get on the field because he's worse than what's out there? He'll perform worse than what we've seen? I'm not buying it. Worse case is you give him a series or two and prove/disprove why he should or shouldn't have playing time.

You're still giving them too much credit.
Another very viable answer for why TAC (or anyone else) is not playing is the fact this staff doesn't know how to accurately evaluate its own players. Considering a lot of the guys replacing injured players seem to be outplaying those injured players, it's definitely a possibility.

The "conspiracy theory" has always been a strawman argument. It's not a conspiracy and only a handful of insane people have ever claimed it is. Patke and Manny are just corches doing corchy things.
Forget being a world beater or starter... that's another strawman. He had ZERO snaps. Is he better than Jennings for 7 snaps or Ragone for 5 snaps? That's the question these corches have probably gotten the wrong answer to.
That's a fair assessment and not something I disagree with. But it doesn't explain the scores of young kids that have played during Manny's tenure, dating back to his DC days.

I mean, arguably, Hall + Bolden were better at their jobs than the LB core. For all the faults with the staff, the young kids have gotten more and more time to the point that Hall is now on the bench. So, to give the staff some credit, they're not digging in to their initial evals and depth chart. LB has arguably been the worst position group. The fact that we haven't seen TAC or Huff to me, is likely more an indictment on the player than the possibility that they're killing it in practice but stuck behind someone less talented for whatever reason.

No the **** he ain’t lmao manny is a VET. And he’s still in charge of the LB player position. Patke shouldn’t be here he serves no purpose. And he’s my dude like we’re real friends. When he got the job he was told he would be free to do what he wished and that’s not the case
That seems to be the common denominator amongst all the coaches. Being lied to that they would get to run their own rooms until Manny decides “I’ve got this.”

The thought of Flagg trying to contain Sims from Gt or Travis from F$U scares the crap out of me. Those QBs will have career rushing yards against us...
This is a legitimate concern for Saturday. I recall one play during the UVA game where Flagg appeared to be shadowing the QB. Armstrong ran right by him. There will be some ugly conversions on 3rd and 14 Saturday!

I’d be ****ed too. I wouldn’t trust Patke to take out my trash…. No offense to Ragone but I cannot understand how the likes of TAC Huff and Chase Smith can’t get on the field over #34
Not even about #34. #11 and #44 ain't getting it done. Re-watch the games and forcus on their movements and play. Look at their PFF grades. One maybe two good games. I don't even know if PFF counts the plays they don't even get to, but expect a MLB to make.

I missed the name but my point stands. You don’t even have to be D1 caliber to be better than what we put on the field. There is zero reason he shouldn’t be given a chance.
So you think Austin-Cave shouldn't be given an opportunity? You should go back and read what Patke and Diaz said about him after the Spring and Fall Camp.

Makes no sense.

The knock on Cave has been grasping the mental aspect and I'm sure that Ragone knows all the calls to make as MLB. What I don't understand is the need to rotate him in there for 5 plays. If Flagg is your starter at MLB then why are you subbing him out for a 3rd stringer?
Since Manny has been here they have periodically sub whole packages of LBS out during the game.

*Did yall forget Mike Smith use to log mins at times.

The reason Ragone went in was because Jennings went down. Ragone appears to be 3rd there.....He only played 5 snaps. Im not a fan of him playing much..but even he read a key and made a solo tackle which suprised me.

The issue is as much as they sub...Cave isnt in the rotation currently for whatever reason.

Honestly he and Huff should have been seeing more time...If your going to spy the qb on certain downs i would much rather have one of those to do so over Flagg who hasnt shown the ability to do that consistently.

In my opinion TAC and Huff should see a minimum of 10 defensive snaps a game...get it however possible..WE SUB ALOT on defense. Find a way to get them out there...keep them engaged. Im saying it because NO ONE has been lights out at LB at all to NOT have some snaps taken away.

That seems to be the common denominator amongst all the coaches. Being lied to that they would get to run their own rooms until Manny decides “I’ve got this.”
!!! I’m not excusing patke either tho. He’s my dude but doesn’t deserve this job but he ain’t even been given the chance to do the job. One of his ONLY lb recruits and you think he ain’t playing him? Cmon

I don’t think he even played a snap on special teams. Think if you travel a kid and his parents make the trip and you don’t even have him on kick coverage. I assumed he did not travel.

Watch the tape. Flagg gives us very little, because he is not a good enough athlete or LB for that matter. Ragone, the poor kid looked like he was lost out there. He made a tackle because the guy ran right into him. If TAC can’t even make the kicking teams, something is up, and it’s not about the playbook.

Not sure if anyone else was by the gate where the players come out after the game, but I was walking up and saw TAC talking to his dad I’d assume and he looked extremely upset and dad was upset as well. They talked a while and then Patke came out and pulled them both by the side and the dad was going OFF on Patke. I couldn’t hear the convo but he was ****ed and TAC looked ****** and had the look of he’s leaving. I’m guessing Ragone getting those snaps put him over. Makes no sense he can’t get any PT with the way the LB play has been all year.
