We lose our top 4 WRs and NFL bound TE. You have an opportunity to replace 95% of last year’s production from the slot position with the addition of Pena. Keep in mind the slot receiver is the key to Dawson’s passing game.

You then hope that JoJo can replace JG’s production and Daniels can replace Horton’s production. You can’t replace Arroyo’s length and speed, but Lofton, Bauman and others will compensate.

That’s a plausible scenario and gives Beck solid options. But, that should be the floor. Ideally, you then add a stud outside WR that can stretch a defense and the offense should be Top 10. But, there is no guaranty that outside WR becomes available in the Portal. That’s why you MUST take Pena. At a minimum, he’s an insurance policy so Beck has a serviceable group of WRs and somebody he can count on when it’s 3rd and 5.

The money that Pena will command doesn't match the production he has put forth so far and it doesn't match the season he had.

I'd rather see the money allocated somewhere else.

No way we go into the season with just CJ & Jojo who gets banged up a lot and at WR with a bunch of freshmen after them. That would be a very underwhelming group and defeats the purpose of getting Carson Beck

In theory it makes sense to go after Pena and if a true WR1 comes along then he’s a +1.

However I understand there’s a budget and there are other positions in need as well.

I can’t think of a time I read about a NIL figure and thought that is accurate. Agents lie. Kids lie. It’s a tactic to negotiate.

I never assumed anything. I don't think it's wise spending a lot of money on a receiver with precisely one year of production in his entire college career that enters it's fifth season. Thats just people putting words into my mouth.

I understand people want every bit of ability on the market, but that's not a realistic POV to have.
