Tough situation. I'm in the camp of focusing on a bigger and especially faster receiver. But no good ones have entered the portal (yet). Hopefully they will by the time Pena visits and ante up or fold.
 
How did the narrative here become an All ACC WR not being good enough for us? Do you guys think that J Smith or Ryan Williams are entering the portal?

Pena is immediately the best receiving option on the team. If the money is right, you absolutely take him.

This has happened the last couple seasons, the spring portal isnt really where you want to bank on getting impact players unless you back channeled someone heavy. I hope everyone remembers "the wave" reporters were talking about before that never happened. You better do your damage in that first portal window because the 2nd usually isnt as fruitful.

You could hang at the bar and pass on the easy lay up or wait for the ten to never walk in. Depends on how much you want to play with your own ****.....

Because some started typing on the board we were getting a WR1 from an SEC team so now unrealistic expectations are flooding the board.

Isn’t about him not being good enough. It’s about not paying him impact wr money because he isn’t that. If they can get him for a reasonable price then bring him in but I wouldn’t give him wr1 money
 
He's a poor man X.
X was a running back in the slot with good wiggle.

Pena is a slighter version of him with marginally better sped, but he runs routes very similarly.

This might be a case of taking him to bolster the WR corps if he comes on board, but I understand the numbers game, but he's an slightly above average CFB WR.

Like @DMoney is saying, lets see what happens, and if nothing happens then were rolling with youth at WR and a strong run game with play action style. We'll be fine either way. Just need to have a WR1 just to blast down there, stack the DB and get 7 on a go route.

Many can’t see the big picture and fail to understand the countless variables involved in recruiting both HS and portal players.
