This reminds me of the Florida Bar attempting to dissuade lawyers from advertising past results and exercising their right of commercial free speech by telling lawyers that the public finds these ads distasteful.

Oddly enough, some of the people shaping the strategy of the Florida Bar are UM and UM Law grads. Coincidence?

I agree with letting the other students express their opinions and letting the people who run the institution express their opinions as well. I am opposed to using the student newspaper as a propaganda tool and sending people in here making veiled threats in an effort to chill his right to free speech. Capisce?

As I've gone through life, I've realized how many corrupt and inept people there are in positions of power. The media, "the Fourth Estate," is designed to expose those corrupt and incompetent people, not be used as a tool by the corrupt and incompetent to control the unsuspecting masses.

It's not really. Maybe whenever you went there it was, but currently their acceptance standards are about the same. The blanket statements were made because ******** on here were making judgments on UM students. As an alumnus, I take a **** of a lot of pride in my undergrad degree. But it's better than UM. Just like Wisky, ND, UNC, Duke, BC and UVA are better than us yet have all embarrassed us on the field recently. Or like the half dozen equal or better schools like OSU, UF, USC, UCLA, PSU, and Texas who don't act uppity towards football. Miami is not even one of the top schools in it's own division. Get over it. Be proud of it, but don't pretend it's something it isnt, it's pathetic.

I've never acted like UM is something that it isn't. But it is a school that a lot of it's "fans" couldn't have gotten into.

He also used access to the paper to lie about me. He has never liked me. Goes back to Freshman year. He did that to spite me. If it was true I would understand. But it's not. He painted a picture of me as a kid who ran around looking for media attention, and looking to hurt the school, when that is so far from the truth. So far.
