Statistical Look at OSU Defense

Idk. Doesn’t look all that mismatched to me.

Theres first rounders on our squad too. Yeah, we’re a dog. But we’re live.

Yeah down’s can play deep but that’s where we want him. If we allow them to play him in the box all game it’ll be a long night. He’ll control the game

This is why I keep saying we need to throw the ball down the field, especially early. We all know the defense is going to need to be at their best to win, so lean on them. If we take a few shots and have to punt, so be it. We have to find a way to generate explosives.

I’ll say it until I’m blue in the face “ this isn’t the game to play in a phone booth. Use space as an extra man , bigger throwing windows and gives wr’s more room for separation”
I disagree, I think this is exactly what's gonna work on them. I didnt like running up the middle from the shotgun. I love it from the pistol with Mark Fletcher. Block everyone across the line and pick a hole. They want us to spill the play and allow their LBs to run sideline to sideline. We will see which tactic works. It may not work early but I believe if we stay with it it will open up. Especially the B gap runs.

This offense vs any decent defense hasn’t been good
We looked fine against ND. Lville we were -4 turnovers and the SMU game is..well. You already know. I’m not saying we’re going to drop 40 on them, and I’m not saying they’re not an elite defense. But all the generational talk around them needs to be taken with a grain of salt is all I’m saying

They have at least 4 first rounders. Don’t for a second think they aren’t an elite defense just bc they didn’t play elite offenses all year
I’m not saying they aren’t elite. But they can be elite and overrated at the same time. I’ve heard it multiple times this is the best defense in the last however many years. I mean they could be, but they’ve gone against middling competition all year. That’s all im saying

Run pistol and run out of 3 and 4 wide sets. If we can help JB with his matchup, than I think we can wear down their dline over the course of the game.

This is the game where Toney serves as a decoy with some exceptions and of course another big time punt return is always possible.
I think the x-factors will be Lofton and Marion. Each will have opportunities to make big time plays. But we need to be strategic with our shots.

We have to be tactical, of course. But we can’t play scared. That would be a mistake IMO. In other words, don’t concede anything off the bus.

I think we play our game and see what happens. We all know the Toney-centrism was a bit much last game, so tone it down a little. But run our **** and find out if they can stop it.

They haven’t seen us yet, so who says we can’t run effectively and get our pass game off? I’m not sure we can’t. If our line holds up, which wouldn’t shock anyone btw l, I wouldn’t be surprised to give OSU a harder time than most think.

Just have a back-up plan. And then another.

Let’s line it up and see.

Not sure if it’s already been discussed, but Patricia just said they are going to have some new stuff ready for this game up front. That doesn’t make me feel great.
Don’t concede anything off the bus. They’re very good, but they wipe their asses just like we do. We’re one of 8 teams left, we’re no pushovers.
