Not too complicated here. Major improvements across the board on offense and special teams, our worst year of the Manny era on defense. The drastic improvements in ranking include scoring offense (+73), third down offense (+74), FG percentage (+89) and red zone percentage (+91). We also ran the ball more often (+40) and more effectively (+45). Sack percentage is still poor at 95th, but we improved by three whole percentage points and 27 spots.

On defense, the story is simple: our run defense cratered. We dropped 82 spots (!) in rush defense, after four years of solid play under Manny. We actually improved slightly in pass defense (+8) and third down defense (+6). Due to the disaster of a run defense, this was Manny's worst year in scoring defense (-20) and yards per play (-54). We also took a step back in pass rush (-35) despite two NFL DEs.

Remember these numbers as we learn about Manny's off-season adjustments.

With a mobile QB and a supposedly high octane O, that is pure garbage.

2019- UNLV was 86th

Where did Justice come from? UNLV. I'm tired of these G5 specials as coaches.

Manny's defense was cool while it lasted. We went from dog**** to pretty **** good. However, it IS gimmicky and it's run its course. It's time to bring in a real defensive coordinator with a normal yet aggressive defense which fits the players in Florida.

I think Miami could be a pretty good CEO type coach but he has to remove himself from his defense to do that. Smell ya later Baker.

On the O, it starts and ends with the Offensive Line! Our O/L is just not suitable for the type of championship caliber team that we (the fans) want! On D, Manny needs to do a major rewrite in the offseason. No excuses!

Golden’s players are gone. These are all the staff’s players. Interesting - our 3 best players in defense we’re all transfers. What have they been doing the last 4 years?

weak DT play, weak recruiting, terrible Lb play, terrible recruiting.

Baker, Patke and Rumph have to go and wouldn’t mind seeing Banda also. Clean house. This is year 2 through 5 for these guys at this program and it’s gotten worse. People need to lose their jobs

Where did Justice come from? UNLV. I'm tired of these G5 specials as coaches.

I mean what does justice have to work with? **** he got a 2 star in Zion to play pretty well.

Gaynor is small and weak, Scaife is complete garbage, Clark is a low tier 3 star and he has to go to the portal just to have a tackle.

can’t really say it’s Justices fault on this

I'd be interested to see sacks per play.
Enos was a very slow offense, while Lashlee runs a lot of plays, likely 20 or so more. Pure guess.
If that's actually true, then that's not a terrible improvement, but not great.

I'll keep reiterating that the loss of Shaq and Pink were too much to overcome. I really think they outplayed their coaching and sometimes masked just how poor the linebacker coaching was. Just as it is possible (not necessarily true but possible) that King is masking offensive play calling deficiencies. We won't know until a different quarterback runs this offense.
Shaq and Pink proved their point this year

We're ****ed without King.

Isn't a negative rush play by the QB considered a sack? Obviously King is going to have more negative rush plays because he runs more.

That stat is in the OP. We improved our sack percentage from 11% to 8%. Meaningful improvement but we started at the bottom.

Zion and Williams have been fine. Gaynor, Scaife, and Clark all suck. Try Clark at his primary position at C, kick Campbell inside, and Donaldson will start at G next year. Unfortunately Scaife and Gaynor will still have their starting spots next year.
