8-4 wasn’t good enough when we had Manny Diaz, a cheap budget and supposedly less talented team. Why should that be good enough now? Why are your standards lower for Mario than they were for Manny?

Because I see what Manny left Mario... Also, Manuela had already run the defense for 3 years. He had no excuse in terms of rebuilding that side of the ball, yet it was atrocious. Apples v oranges.
 
The Only 2 players on the OLine who have their spot locked up are Cohen and Lee at G and C. Everything else is open. The best 5 will play, simple as that. Either way it is good if we are 7 deep - with the 2 5 star freshman included. Anez Cooper is clearly one of the bigger steals from last class, and will start here at least a year or two once Cohen is gone.

Yet Manny had a winning record with this supposedly terrible team. Why are the standards for Mario lower? He’s already flipped 2/3 of the roster so he can’t play the “it’s not my roster” card. We play maybe two top 25 teams. There’s no excuse for losing to bad ACC teams this year. I expect this team to actually win games. I refuse to see 7 wins as some kind of improvement when 7 win seasons got our last 5 coaches chased out of town.

I think you know the answer to that one.

Im with you...but im a realest and after last year results..8 wins woul dbe looking at me in the face...

Also i wonder if fsu fans are hoping we are good like half of this board were going on n on about last year while we laughed at FSU talking about hate to see them like this...we need a good fsu for rivalry, etc.

I’m right there with u. I support Mario, and I’m willing to give a mulligan for yr 1, however, it’s shown throughout CFB history, that if u’re a top coach, yr 2 should see significant improvement. 8 wins is way too low; it needs to be 9+ wins at minimal.

After last year, I’d be fine with 8-4 and an upward projection this year though 9 would be much better and that’s my want for this season. We’d make huge progress on the trail.

Big Manny knows the pressure isn't on until Y4.

Our Canes could **** the bed this next season...we'll be ****ed...he'll be back to work...

I'll be ecstatic if you guys are right. But I wouldn't be disappointed at 8 wins and wouldn't be shocked at 7. I see 20 years of failure, an impostor former head coach in Manuela, and a barren cupboard of talent that is still in full rebuild phase. That is enough for me to be patient as long as Mario keeps recruiting at a high level and trading up in the portal.

I hear you. A lot of heartbreak, money and effort has gone into rebuilding what Donna tore down. But I gave Radio, Fat AG and Manuela 2 years or more. I'm going to give Mario his 2-3 as well. ... I felt he was an awesome hire and still believe that. He'll get this ship turned around.

Again, historically, by yr 2 any coach worth a **** takes his team to another level w/ the same players.

1. The cancers r supposed to have removed from the team & replaced with better talent.

2. We’re allegedly bringing back a veteran QB who has 1st round talent

3. The OL should be leaps & bounds better

4. We allegedly brought in an offensive mind to be an OC,

5. We’re going to running a defensive scheme that was ranked highly

If Manny can go from 6-7 to 8-3 after a change in offensive philosophy, & supposedly TVD is leaps & bounds better than D King (pause), then why shouldn’t any of us expect at least 9 wins next yr at an $8m/yr clip?

Listen, I was defending Mario last season. I knew we would have struggles, not 5-7 struggles, but struggle nonetheless. That was yr 1, yr 2 should look & feel way different.

Because Mario brainwashed a lot of y’all this was a 5 year rebuild to overcome his mediocre Gameday coaching until he has 85 5 star’s on the roster to be able to win the Coastal

Same. 8 wins is my floor. But it’s gotta be more than just W/L record. We can’t keep getting blown out. If we lose a tough fought game against Clemson. That’s OK. We can’t just keep losing by 30 to teams like Pitt.
