I’ll just say this - we need the B. Blades, Sapps, Bubba McDowells, Matt Walters, Ray Lewis, Dan Morgans and the D,J Williams’ of the world to be great. Not to mention the Winslow, Shockey.... ect

Look at the top players, and KEY contributors, on the 2001 team - and you’ll get the picture. Ed Reed (LA). Shockey (OK). Andre (FL). D.J. (CA) Vilma (FL). Dorsey(CA). Portis (BORN in Mississippi and went to Gainesville High.)... just to name a few....

Our GREAT teams always had a GREAT mix of SFL ballas with other OOS ballas....

Metro Orlando repping hard this year, 3 teams... I’m proud of the boys, I know so many on the jones and edgewater squads!

Going to be tough against sta and mnw...any given Saturday tho!

OTOWN BABY STAND UP. I will tell you this the Jones halftime show will be FIRE. Their band has always been amazing for a high school band. As the Jones vs MNW game I am thinking the first team to 21pts wins the game. MNW defense is fierce, but Jones's offense is like basketball on grass.

Apopka vs Columbus is gonna be an old school slug fest they both like to run the ball. I will say this I don't think Columbus has boyz that big(270+lbs) that can run like they do at APK.

Edgewater is just plain old want to and big plays all day. So that should be interesting against St. THOMAS.

Go Canes

Who remembers the days the days when south Florida teams would consistently lose because they got out coached? I would love to see university of Miami and dolphins get the kind of coaching the high schools in south Florida have!!! Kids are not divas they out in a ton of work and want to be rewarded for that work with wins!!!

LMAO!

You're putting words in my mouth, I NEVER once ever in my entire time on this board said that South Fla 2-star are 5-stars everywhere else...

And man you're hatred of South Fla football players is pure comedy bruh.

You may have never said that, but do you not think yourself that S Fl kids are more talented across the board? They’re hungrier, got that dog in them, and generally are better than the rest of the state? If so then the choice of words doesn’t Really matter Then does it. Then the overall point is valid, is it not?

Again I don’t hate S Fl players, now you’re trying to put words in my mouth. Love them in fact. I guess you could say I hate the grifters, the handlers, the community that holds the home team to higher standard than the out of town teams that are definitely more prevalent S Fl than anywhere else. That’s what I can’t stand, you know the attitude that the home team should offer a borderline kid just cause a kid plays locally and if they don’t then the home team is treated differently.

No, those words have never been typed by me on this board, you assume that's what I think but I've never said that.

I think South Fla players are great football players, are they the best in the State, depends on the year, sometimes yes, sometimes no.

It appears as though I'm just super biased to South Fla players but I'm really not, I just don't have a visceral disdain for them like a lot of people on here do & am at least willing to not demonize & denigrate them as "soft overrated divas" like a lot of other people do just because our program has a difficulty landing the best players from the region. So to people who have an axe to grind against South Fla players it looks like I'm always defending them & sticking up for them, when in reality if they weren't always being bashed I wouldn't say anything about it all.

There are great Football players all over the country, I'm one of the main proponents on this board for us to forge a pipeline into Texas & Arizona for QB's & TX/Louisiana for DB's. I post on OOS prospects ALL THE TIME on here, I was the captain of the Tirek Austin-Cave fan club before he was even offered.

People have this perception of me that I'm a South Fla only & every place else sucks guy, that's 10,000% false & couldn't be further from the truth. You'll never see me on here saying "Cali players are soft!" Or "Them Georgia boys are overrated!" like people regularly do with South Fla kids. Any time I post anything positive or good about a player from Miami people immediately start attacking & looking to tear that player or players down, that doesn't happen with any other player from any other region on here lol.

Is the culture of South Fla football crazy & shady, of course, but where I separate from most is that I don't take it out on the players because they're just kids, 15-18 year old kids who have a sh*t ton of things going on around them pulling them in every direction, so sometimes they may make mistakes or do things that people don't like but they're still teenagers & people want to treat them like they're 40 year old men as if they didn't make mistakes & do stupid sh*t when they were the same age.

I don't like all the games & craziness that comes with recruiting South Fla players just as much as the rest of yall, the difference is I don't hold it against the kids & want them to be burned at the stake (metaphorically speaking lol) because of it, it's just the nature of the business & until we become a winning program with a competent staff we're not really in a position to hold a Spanish inquisition against the majority of our recruiting base.

Not sure if this has anything to do with S Florida kids or not just saying. About 10 years back I saw film of some of the toughest SF coaches you've ever seen, most SF old timers know these coaches. They pushed the kids beyond anything I've seen. I believe that made them better than other kids. Didn't play by the rules but they surely came out of the toughest parts of Miami with an attitude like I'm going to clean your clock when we get on the field.

Those coaches made those kids tough as nails, wrong or right that's just my take. I personally love what they did for those kids. Times are a changing now, everyone knows how I feel about what went wrong. I give those coaches credit for making SF HS football, they knew how hard it was going to be for those kids. My hat's off to the old time SF HS coaches, I don't think it's anything like it use to be.

Another thing is schools are insanely strict right now. One or 2 fights and you will get kicked out of school, no matter how good at football you are. A lot of the great tough kids from the hoods are getting kicked out of school before they can get to college. So we are stuck with the softer kids. This is not just florida, it is nationwide. I never would have made it through HS if I went to school now a days.

Some of these coaches were like dads to these kids, it was tough love no doubt but it made them men before their time. In the 70's in MA in Brockton we had one of those old time coaches, not quite as tough as SF coaches but very very close. Used to beat up the best kids with two on ones in the snow and muck. You'd have two on ones with 275lb to 300lb linemen destroying the best RB's. Brockton at that time was the best in NE almost all of the time, huge school, over 6500+ kids. Was the second biggest school in the country, played all over, played in the Carrier dome in NY one year, awesome stadium for football. Many of those kids went to big time schools and on to the pro's.

Went up to MA in 2010 the son of the coach took over he was the QB for Harvard for 4 years. He came over to talk with me, I was friends with his brother, I said what happened to the beating the players up, two on ones sleds for an hour. Ah we don't do that anymore the parents won't let us. Brockton is just another team now, sad to see what's going on today. Ya if they kicked kids out of school back then for fighting a few times I would have been out in the second grade.

St thomas should play IMG in a private school classification. There should be no private schools in the classes with public schools

I dont see what this proves @Liberty City El i could look up there and say orlando has 3 teams which doesnt prove anything either
No one ever says anything negative about players from Orlando so there would be no need...

The point was just to have funny thread showing some love to the South Fla teams about play for State championships in the next 2 weeks. That's all, it was a funny sarcastic post.

The people that are having trouble with that are just revealing that the shoe fits... The ones who laughed & got where I was coming from get what I was trying to say.

Some south fla players are good some are overrated just like anywhere else. Miami needs to blame the admin not the kids. They need leaders and kids that want to play at miami. They have neither

2 of miami’s best players sapp and merriweather came from apopka. The common denominator was these kids were dogs. F*ck where they come from.

That is how you turn them into men. My boxing coach was like that. Turned us into tough men.

A lot of the real tough football players from back in the day wouldn't even be making into junior high, let a lone high school now lol. Unless you are a perfect little rule follower they are looking to throw your *** out of school. They don't care if you are going to be the next Tom Brady, you get into a fight, or break a few little rules and you are lucky to not end up in Juvie.

I used to play basketball at local NYC basketball court about 10 years ago. There where a bunch of straight ballers that where 9-10 years old that would play on the other side of the court. A few of them where so good they would come and play with the older guys(a bunch of the older guys had d-1 schollys) sometimes. All of them ended up going to Juvie or at risk youth schools before they even made it to high school to really develop their talents. The kids that ended up going to play in college where nowhere near as athletic as the other kids, but they where "tamer".

That is obviously very anecdotal, but I have heard this same thing happening across the nation.
