Do you guys in the "Perry should start as a True Freshman" camp want to win big this year or not? Are you more concerned about 2018 or 2017?
I'm concerned about winning this year. And I'm concerned that the limited skillsets of our older QBs will prevent us from doing so.
Blake Sims appears to be the hot comparison. Sims was an elite recruit who broke Alabama's passing record as a senior. He was athletic enough to get NFL looks as a running back. It's a crap comparison.
Maybe I'm missing something when I watch our older guys. Wouldn't be the first time. But Richt named Vinny Testaverde as co-#2 last year after camp. That should be a pretty big clue as to what we're dealing with here.
If one of them wins the job, I'll get behind them. They have improved. But there's a reason I'm cheering so hard for Perry, and it has nothing to do with his sparkling personality or some message board prediction.
From Richts comments today, it seems like Perry's confidence is shaken from a subpar scrimmage performance. Hard to think this kids game can mature enough to lead us into Doak in a month...
