Rosier throwing more picks than perry and sheriffs combined throughout fall camp is scary period... this is his 4th year here. There isn't any excuse for that

You'll learn one day to stop taking the word of insiders as gospel. Specifically one who is being questioned on his nonsense and isn't at practice everyday. Richt when asked about Rosier said he had displayed excellent decision making through the first week of camp. In the first scrimmage he throws for alot of yards, 3 TDs and no picks. So who sounds like they know what they're talking about?

The same people claiming Kaaya was Unitas are the same people trying to justify Perry based on closed practices.

And the same people who relentlessly bashed Kaaya are rallying behind a guy who couldn't even compete with Kaaya, much less beat him out. Think about that.

Keep pounding that goofy new mantra about running around in shorts being more significant in judging a QB than live game-like situations.

The scrimmage was non-contact, and Rosier and Shirreffs have one game of starting experience between them. These aren't battle-tested guys.

So you guys think Rick is goofy enough to think veteran QBs can't improve even though both Rosier and Shirreffs are playing much better than they did in the spring? Is this the "reading comprehension" we need to bone up on?

"The young guys are going to be better a week from now. Wherever they are now, a week from now they are going to be a lot better than they are today. The guys that have been around for a while, next week, how much more are they going to learn, how much more are they going to going to get better? They may get better, incrementally, but the young guys ought to get a bigger improvement because they are getting more comfortable in the system, more reps in the system."

- Mark Richt, yesterday

The older guys can get better. Rosier has barely played, and Evan has never played. But Richt is not going to have much more information on those two by the end next week. I strongly suspect he knows who he prefers among those two. Which is why it makes sense to (quietly) make a decision and give reps to the guy who needs them.

Richt hands him the back up job without him earning it and he takes the chance of causing a rift among the players. It shows guys that have been there busting their azzes for a year or two that they might lose their spot because some kid has more hype than them coming out of HS

I know Richt wants Perry to win the job.Hes made that abundantly clear for 6-8 months now.But if he hasn't earned the spot I just don't see how he's just handed it.

This kid might have all the talent in the world but even those type kids need to come in and prove how good they are by their play.not by their potential.

As was pointed out there's been time after time that a kid that was all world in HS bombs when he steps up in class.Perry might have all the potential in the world but potential means you ain't done it yet.Not saying Perry won't turn into an AA but as of right now unless the reports we are getting are false he needs a lot more time to prove it.

We need to play the kid that Has shown through practices, cause that all you have to go on at this point, gives us the best chance to win.Perry might prove at some point to be that guy but from all reports he's not that guy yet.

I'm not for awarding guy a spot off his HS numbers or tape. But I trust Richt to do the best thing for the team.I just hope him wanting Perry to win the job doesn't cause a problem with the players if he hasn't earned the spot.

You honestly think players would be up in arms if Malik was 3rd on the depth chart.....really.... after the 15+ golden guys we already gave walking papers. C'mon man.

This has absolutely nothing to do with Malik being third string and everything to do with a kid being handed a spot off of what he did in HS cause he hasn't shown yet that he deserves it in practice.

And do I think kids would be " up in arms" about a kid being handed a spot he hasn't earned while they are out there busting their *** to earn theirs ..yes I do.Have you ever been a part of a team?

And WTF does this have to do with the 15+ golden girls that have been run off? We aren't talking about some 4th string scrub.we are talking about the only QB on the team that has ANY game experience at all and from all accounts is running neck and neck with Sheriffs for the starting job.

No one is talking about handing him a spot.Hes out there earning earning it from the reports we've been given.

If Perry steps up his game and proves he's the best of the 3 then he deserves the spot.So far he hasn't.

Lol perry has been here a month calm your ****. I can almost guarantee nobody on the team would give a **** if malik played another down of football here. Malik may have one of the single worst quotes i've ever heard from a QB. " I never even watched film till the duke game". You want to talk about kids not earning a spot, Malik was the f'n backup QB and wasn't even watching film. Miss me with that game experience bull****.

Malik started his career at Miami never expecting or preparing to play a game. BETAMAX

I could care less who the starter is as long as he wins, with that said if Richt hasn't seen a ton of growth from the 2 vets and he knows their ceiling is lower I feel like you roll with the stronger upper class men and let Perry push for the job if he's ready.

Whether you like it or not pete and dmoney are 2 of the 3 best cane insiders on all of the cane boards.Brooklyn dee also posted he thinks it's perry job based on a conversation he had too

But wishing doesn't change what happens on the field. Richt can't just hand him the job if he's not ready. The main thing that is going to accelerate the process is reps. When Kaaya won the job as a true freshman, it was a two-man battle. This has been a four-man race.

So I hope this competition gets cut to two players this week. Richt already alluded to this in his post-scrimmage presser. We've seen enough from Rosier and Shirreffs for Richt to have a preference. They are what they are and any improvements will be incremental. Pick one (without an announcement) and give the first team reps to that guy and Perry.

yes, but unfortunately, if an assumption is the joke, then truth is the punchline.

as we sit here today, shirreffs is the best QB on the roster.

he's more mature than the other guys, 5 times more intelligent, processes faster, can handle the athleticism required in this system, is bigger and more durable than the others, and has a much lower beta than his fellow QB's ... (which given the nature of what he is being asked to do, is one of the critical factors that makes him the obvious choice at this point).

he should, and will likely win the job, and based on the totality of the above, we should all hope he does.

HOWEVER, that does not mean the younger kids (perry and weldon) will not eventually improve and surpass him. when will that be? game 6? next spring? after 8 or 9 more practices? who knows. it may very well happen, and as you noted, perhaps we should expect it to. but it hasn't happened today.

Again, laughable that you eliminate one of your top performers in favor of someone who has yet to perform.

I could see it if he was even somewhat close, but he isn't.

If he tears it up next scrimmage, then it's a new ballgame.

But right now? lol, no.

Just because you slid all your chips on one player doesn't mean you should stop thinking rationally.

Brooklyndee also thought that WR Smith was a lock and he didn't even visit. He also said once that Michael Jackson was performing so poorly in practice that he wouldn't play that week because the coaches and his teammates were sick of him. Of course he played. Taking what they say as law is dumb.

For the life of me, I could not find a good reason for the hate fans have for Rosier. What has this guy done to warrant the constant doubting of his playing ability and the exaggeration of his weaknesses? Yes maybe the guy had more interceptions in the Spring than you hope for. Why would fans claim that he continued to have same problem in the fall when there is no evidence to support that?

Exactly.."Perry has been here a month"...But yet you want to give him the starting job...and I guess you answered the" have you ever been part of a team" question by not answering......and the last time I checked we won the Duke game and Rosier had a pretty good day...

He's been in a live situation once since he's been at Miami. He also had thumb injury that affected his performance for almost a year according to you. At least that was your explanation for his poor velocity and accuracy. So miss me with his better durability. You don't know how durable he is.

He has shown to be erratic with the ball and turnover prone.

I firmly believe if Perry would have been an EE, he would have already had the job locked up by now.

The fact is, I'm not sure that there's anybody that posts here that is actually at the closed practices, other than the first few minutes they allow.

If I'm wrong, someone please correct me.

So the info we get, while appreciated, is not first hand. That works great for 99.99% of the info we need, but when something requires close attention and an appreciation of nuance, like watching QB's compete in a practice environment where there a lot going on st one time, it may not be enough.

They swore last year that Rosier was garbage and Evan was better, but Rosier stayed the No. 2 all season.

Look, I want Perry to win the job because that means he came in with the goods as a freshman and we have a foundation at QB for the next three years. But this **** needs to be a competition. Nobody getting handed anything. This is the U and we don't hand out jobs to people because of their star rating. No way should Rosier, Sherrifs or Perry should be eliminated until they do something to eliminate themselves. Rosier throwing 3 TD's in the scrimmage is a big plus for him, and he should get another week in the mix.
