Some thoughts on the Louisville loss

Where I was sitting in the WEZ (opposite of where UL was going, everyone in ear shot of me was saying “they are going to fake it. They want to make a statement.”

Boom, 5 seconds later, they allow some fat boy punter (flashback to the fat boy from Georgia Tech and his pass over DJ Ivey to an open receiver) flashback.

Just embarrassing. We stop them in that fake, we get the crowd going.
I was screaming "fake" in my house. It was obvious

Really big piece of trying to run the table will be the health of Mesidor. We need him fully healthy. Try not to laugh too hard as I ask about an injury in this program but does anyone know his deal? Just a twisted ankle? Either way, I hope he doesn’t play against Stanford and he’s 100% for SMU. He’s a major, major piece of trying to end this year 6-0.
Great call. Heard it was just a tweak.

first off D, thank you. We so appreciate your insights and the depth of your analysis. Grateful to call you a friend and love our canes debates.

Speaking purely for my own perspective it’s never about the L but it’s about the how. Especially when the head man is all about how you do anything is how you do everything. Coming out a bye, out coached, out classed, out efforted, out executed. This game should have been circled as the last major hurdle for us.

Offense:
Looking forward We need to self scout hard. Beck’s dark side is a who I thought he was and incessantly debated you about. However, if you go back and watch the UF game he played last year (threw three picks but they survived) and then they changed the playbook a bit. He user TEs and backs more. I hope we do the same; even though we don’t have Georgia caliber TEs (an issue for another day). Mario and Mirabal need to rethink the entire run scheme, the whole we don’t lose yards in this scheme has turned out to be garbage. Use Lyle Off tackle and in space. Get back to what worked in 21 personnel and stop that dumb *** motion. We don’t have a third WR unless jojo gets his head out of his ******. Oline needs more discipline and consistency, second biggest disappointment behind Beck in the game. The defense really adjusted well and played with heart. The good news is that this team has leaders. 6-0 and 4-2 will come down to how the leaders on the team respond. In a rare case of head and heart agreeing, I think we run the table because of our leaders. Let’s go deforest the cardinal and then make glue from some ponies. Go Canes
I'd rather use 4 WR than 1 Te at this point. The TEs have been mostly useless. Beaman gets 1 or 2 wide *** open catches per game that anyone could get. He should not in any scenario be outsnapping Lofton imo. At least Lofton has consistently done well after the catch. Schott and Gilbert need more snaps though. We need more 4WR sets. Last game Moore played like 7 snaps and Jojo played 1 snaps.... in a game we were trailing by like 14 the entire time... Makes no sense.

11-1 miami who doesn't make the conference championship game would not be ranked ahead of the 1 or 0 loss ACC Champion. In fact a 11-1 Miami team that doesn't even make the conference championship game likely is barely even a 12 seed.
you are insane, an 11-1 Miami would be ranked in top 5 at the end of the season

a 10-2 Miami would between 10-14

One loss to Louisville and we got guys shaking *** for the Mike Norvell coaching tree.
For someone who says just getting to the playoffs is a success, that Mike Norvell former OC made it to the playoffs last year as a 2nd year head coach.

Mario has never made a college playoff and I am really hoping we make it this year.

In the end, the loss doesn’t mean much if it’s the only loss and we make the playoffs but the track record of Mario leaves plenty of doubt and discounting that or dismissing it is disingenuous.

Literally the ONLY way an 11-1 Miami does not make the ACCCG is if there are 2 teams with as good or better records in the ACCCG instead of us. Technically these teams can have non-con losses and still get in. But that ignores UVA already has 1 non con loss and doesn't have any more. GTech only has 1 more non con game to UGA who they really won't be punished for losing to if that's their only loss... and honestly they may just straight up win it if King is healthy. Louivilles only noncon game left is Kentucky, who isn't good. But we'll see about that.

If GTechs only loss on the season is to UGA and then they win the Conference, there is no world they aren't ranked ahead of us. Lousiville if they win out then make and win the conference would have 1 loss to UVA (who is likely to finish with 9+ wins at least), and then two wins to 1 loss teams in Miami and GTech probably... Again why the **** would we be ranked over an ACC Champ Louisville who has a head to head win over us that kept us out of the conference champ game in the first place?

We seriously all just need to hope that GTech/Louisville/UVA drop games period.

teams head of you lose you move up,
Tech plays Ga there 1 loss
Ole Miss and TexAm both play 3 ranked teams, Bama plays 2

An 11-1 Miami team would be top 5

Correct on point one. Wildly incorrect on point 2. 11-1 Miami is in the playoff, easily. I don’t understand why some of you are failing to grasp this. It’s mid-October and there are SIX undefeated teams left. Six. Out of, what? 136? It’s really, really, really hard to go 12-0. Wanna know how many teams did it last year? One. There is going to be carnage for the next 6 weeks. There literally always is. ****, nine ranked teams lost JUST YESTERDAY.

Just win. I’d argue there’s a scenario where a 2-loss Miami gets in, depending on how things go. Didn’t we finish 13th last year, as a 10-2 team who didn’t go to Charlotte, and we beat literally no one good? We have wins over two Top 18 teams right now. ND very well might be in the Top 6 at the end of the year. It’s crazy to me how many people are so shortsighted when this **** is Groundhog Day every single year. There’s literally half the **** season to play still. Chill out with the certainties.

a 2 loss Miami team is probably in, but dont want to chance, there wont be many 2 loss teams out, but like last year when bama, us, and ol miss were last 3, we didnt have a big win, so bama was #12 before clemson back door'd in

this loss indicates that we can lose to anyone moving forward. We cant just out talent people. we need to get better schematically
I just hate the way our O plays. There’s barely any explosive plays so the opposing team should usually be in the game. So one wrong bounce and bang ur in a dog fight

You see 3 ACC schools in? I’d be shocked. Say Louisville and GT play in the ACC champ game, I don’t see us getting in with a second loss. We might not even get in at 11-1.

Obviously we don’t want to chance it. Nobody wants to lose, ever. I’m just trying to say people have absurd amnesia and it’s baffling. An 11-1 miami on a 6 game winning streak with its only loss to what will almost certainly be a 9, maybe 10 win Louisville team by 3 points, and wins over USF, ND, SMU, UiF (who knows what they do the rest of the year), Pitt, and FSU before they fell apart is maybe not even top 12? Has anyone ever followed this sport before?

Have you? You see this committee leaving out an Ole Miss to put 3 ACC schools in?

2 ACC schools is a stretch and it may be Louisville who beat us or us. I’m nuts? You think 3 ACC schools are getting in?
I have no clue how many ACC schools will get, what I know for a fact is an 11-1 Miami team would get 100%
you think the committee drops them from say #6, to #13 after the ACC title game, come on

Ole Miss? What in the world does Ole Miss have to do with anything? You have a crystal ball? Ole Miss has 4 more real games to play. But you’re calling it now that the final decision will be Miami or Ole Miss? Let the **** play out, man. It works itself out 99.9% of the time. Ole Miss plays in Norman on Saturday. What if they lose 30-13? We have half a season left to play, what are we even doing here?

My mope take is that unless it’s the championship game you can say the same about the W’s. From game 1 mopes were complaining about run diversity and the overall philosophy and were chastised for it. yes we won and were 5-0. But ND UF and FSU games all had traits that culminated in the **** show Friday. All it took was a good corch to put it together. If porsters are seeing issues, it’s baffling people paid handsomely don’t.

Lmao in what world would a 11-1 Miami team be left out of the playoff, we are literally ranked #9 right now so somehow we will win out and not looked at as one of the 11 best teams in the country ?
