So You Want a Savage DC? Part 4: Manny Diaz

25 downvotes.

Not a SINGLE upvote from the peanut gallery......

But now that he's been hired, they love him, love the hire, and think it's great.

FASCINATING case study in fan psychology right here.

I'll be curious how many people, now that he has been hired, will upvote, when there were crickets previously.

And like clockwork, Valid comes on and tries to slyly add an upvote HAHAHAHAH pathetic.

These are the same folks who were adamant that Golden just "needed time".

I down voted it because the OP plagiarized the thread idea.

**** your own face, fvggot.

My question is... Where are all the nations top coordinators that are willing to uproot their families and take a similar check or a slight increase?

Most of the top coordinators are at schools with some sort of championship contention. Whether it be conference or national.

It would be hard to leave a school. Richt is trying to go out and hire the best AVAILABLE coaches. Diaz may have been plan H but it was evident Richt was aiming high.(1mil for aranda )

This is a decent hire. Some people would take gene Chizik and butch over Manny. Which I absurd. But not much thought happens around these parts

What are you out to prove? We know where you stand on Diaz.
And there's also nothing wrong with fans taking a half glass full approach. Even if they were a little luke warm on Diaz before him being hired.

We're all excited that
1) we fired all the dead weight (including Swasey)
2) We're spending big time money on assistants & our HC

Let's see what happens.

Diaz certainly wouldn't have been my first choice, but I'm not going to act like I'm not excited about sacking QBs and getting TFL's again. It's been awhile since we did that consistently. I expect to give up some big plays here and there, and also to struggle against spread running teams at times.

But new S&C coach, Coach Kool, Diaz, Richt on offense.

If you would've offered me that right after Golden was fired I wouldn't have hesitated to take it.

With the hiring of Diaz, do you think our 2016 defense be equal to or better than FSU's?, Clemson's? NC's? If the answer is NO, then folks let's not forget that these are the teams we are competing against and our offense will not be scoring 30+ points against them.!!

this thread is going to be a good one for the next year or so to look back on ha

1)FSU had a great year statistically while playing NOBODY in terms of OPP pts per game. But they are far from elite. We saw evidence this past weekend when a solid Offense in houston dropped 38 on them after a month they had to prepare for the game

2) we don't play clemson regularly, if we do in the ACC champ game then keep in mind richt is OC now so should see much success over coley play calling

3) UNC just lost Marquise Williams to eligibility and Gene Chizik just gave up 700 rushing yards to baylor. I think we'll be OK

We are stuck with him for the next couple years. I don't see it as bad hire personally but the thread breaking down his film has me nervous. I think he will do better than many expect though. Is he elite? No, doesn't seem like it. Is he garbage or Dorito like, not in my opinion.

I think with a solid defensive staff and upgrade in quality of players he just might do well for us. We shall see

It will be on par with FSU. Their coordinator is nothing special either. Bud foster and venebales are the elite coordinators in our conference. But we can still field a solid defense and I get a sense that we will be fine on that side of the ball

Kids are actually going to want to play in this defense unlike Doritos.

That is all that matters.

V Tech finished 44th in total D this year in a much easier conference and with more talent. I guess you don't want Bud Foster.

Muschamp finished 77th.

Jim Leavitts defense finished 85th.

People would be doing f'ing backflips if we got either of those guys.

Its about TALENT. We could not get it with a lame duck like Golden and a loser like Dnofrio. We will get a ton of it with Richt and Diaz.

this^ people also wanted chizik (**** I even through his name out there and then felt like an idiot watching baylor rush for 700 yards on him). All about situations. some coaches don't achieve success until they get in the right situation, some struggle on certain teams and then get back at it. time will tell with Diaz

I think the fact that Charlie strong is having such a tough go of it at Texas gives you a better feel for what was going on there. That place was an obvious melting pot. I look at his defense and see a lot of opportunity. We have players that like to make plays and be aggressive. So I guess we will see. My concern is all this zone. Sofla CBs grow up playing man. I guess we will see

Ha, ...before he was a real candidate, now getting tons of love.

He was always the candidate!

...for CMR.

And thus the purpose for which I dropped his name herein, as DC for Coach Mark Richt.

Now, that we have also the No. 1 DT coach in college Football, let's see what prominent DTs, i.e., Ra Gary, Et Alius, will rep the U leading to NSD.

Lots o'posters setting up their "I told you so moments".

Texas was happy to get of him, and still sucked on D when they did.

Just to note, three "fans" have now decided they wanted him, which was not the case until he was hired.

Truly fascinating stuff here.

To say I wanted Uncle Rico over Diaz is an understatement. If LSU gave Aranda $1.7 mil they are on crack. Can't expect Miami to counter with "$2 million deal or no deal!"

Someone posted on here about the "Cuban Mafia" having an influence and I thought that was the case with Cristobal for HC. He wasn't interviewed but now here we go again unless it is just a rumor!

Only hope is Coach Kool having a bunch of psychopaths on the D-Line which destroy anything or anyone in their wake. If the QB has no time to count "2 Mississippi" then Diaz will be fine. So would Shannon in that case. Not going there with Dorito!

I read up on candidates to replace Grantham when he left UGA, and Diaz was on every list I found. They thought Pruitt was a pipe-dream, and if not for him wanting to get back in the SEC / away from Tallahassee, he probably would have been. UGA probably would have gotten Diaz.

So, while I do believe Aranda was pursued, I don't think Diaz was very far down Richt's list of candidates.

Good question why did Pruitt want absolutely nothing to do with coming to Miami? Ditto for Lilly. Or did CMR not want them for some reason?

Pruitt is an "SEC guy". No chance he was coming to Miami with Alabama, Auburn, and UGA having open jobs.

There was a thread about Lilly that indicated he and his family didn't want to live in Miami. Not sure of the validity, but Athens, GA to South Florida is a big change in life-style.
