So we finally offer Treon Harris as a QB.

Y'all are hilarious.

1) Offering him as a QB does not mean we want him as a QB. It means we offer him what he wants and need be change him later, just like FSU was gonna do.

2) It isn't just "our staff", so cut the bull****. Florida and Auburn also offered him as a QB, which to me says there have to be rumblings of his commitment to FSU.

3) This offer ain't got **** to do with Kaaya, Rosier, or Olsen until it does. Until then, no sense in poopin your panties. Tito said yall fake.

Agree. Not sure why people are making such a big deal out of this. We had particular needs that we focused on. It's quite possible the coaches reevaluated the incoming class, how many slots may still be left, and then decided there would be enough room to go ahead and offer him as what he is, a project. Everyone keeps whining about how the staff keeps taking projects, but then whined about not offering Harris. He is the poster boy of projects when it comes to being a QB, and he had previously said he didn't want to play any other position. Many players get offers later in the recruiting cycle after the staff has determined that there would be room for them.
then, clearly you don't understand how recruiting works. You had every opportunity to see his game and visit with him. You had every opportunity to offer him which may have helped bring in some other big names, yet you wait until its way too late, after the team he has committed to wins the NC and after he has recruited some studs to join him. Then you suddenly decide to play the game?

Absolutely reeks of amateur hour.

He's a few miles away from the school. It has nothing to do with any of that. It has to do with the fact we made a decision some time ago to play this one a certain way. If we suddenly changed 1 month before signing day, playing it differently is all sorts of strange. It's a variant of offering Skai Moore on signing day. And, no matter how you want to spin it, I find it difficult to interpret it as a positive indicator. Even those who'll say "well, maybe we're showing flexibility," I'd have ask whether this supports some of the lingering chatter about us being too rigid until we have no other choice. Then offer as if we're doing someone a favor.

I hope this is just a rumor. If it's real, it makes me wonder about the approach.

+1

I really hope this is fake. The staff can't be this stupid, can they?

Yea, and that's why they offered Quinton Flowers...weeks ago. He's the exact same type of QB but better. You think its a coincidence Treon gets an offer now after Cook flipped and JC and Lane are joining him?
I dont think Treon gets an offer with the old offense. I dont think Flowers offers was commitable I bet Treon's is

This is why Miami would lose out on a kid like this. Treon was offered by Auburn during the 2nd week of the playoffs. Coach Craig at Auburn was the QB coach for FSU when Treon was first offered in camp, he knew how Treon felt about FSU. So when he left for Auburn he knew it was an uphill battle especially after Sean White committed to them. But with the emergence of Nick Marshall they decided they would go all out for Treon to keep a similar offenss to what they are running now. Craig and Lashlee have been all over him ever since and made up a lot ground based on their style of play and the success of this season.

Florida came into the picture right before the XMAS when they decided on their new OC. They are going to be more spread/zone read next season and felt he was the best guy out there for that. So officially offered him Monday and they're now trying to convince him to visit.

Miami on the other hand called yesterday and said that they have been watching film on him a lot and some of the coaches on the staff felt he was too good of a QB to let get out of here based on thoughts of "batted balls". He changes games with his ability to make plays and you can't let him give you headaches playing QB for FSU.

Every school he's conversating with now has every intention of allowing him to play QB. Treon is still solidly committed to FSU. Auburn is the next closest relationship he has built with staff members.

its just frustrating that Miami says we "were watching film on you".. dude is IN OUR BACKYARD.. we have three of his teammates committed.. our coaches are at alot of the games... makes our staff look dumb... hopefully something happens and he decides he wants to be a cane

Since no one around here can seem to pull their heads out of their @sses long enough to THINK clearly without foaming at the mouth to b*tch about how stupid AG and the staff is, LETS THINK ABOUT THIS.

Treon is in our backyard. We have had the opportunity to offer him at QB this WHOLE time, but didnt. So what changed????

WHO was suspended for the bowl game and has had a LOT of bad rumors floating around him most of the season?

This isnt about the staff suddenly deciding they love Treon as a QB. This is about Olsen IMO. They think he's flaking out, or maybe even likely to bail, and now we may be looking at taking a 3rd QB in this class because things have CHANGED.

We didnt just suddenly decide that Treon is a great QB, either we struck out with other options and they have an offer and he was next on the board, OR, MORE LIKELY, one of the QBs on our roster is flaking out, and they have decided to try to bring in 3.

1) If we didn't want him as a QB, we could/should have offered much earlier.
2) I understand the concept of seeing more film before being convinced a kid (especially a QB) deserves an offer but this logic falls flat b/c we offered Rosier so early and you can't tell me his JR film was that much better than Treon's
3) How do you know?

1 and 2 combined: It doesn't matter why we didn't offer him, or why anyone didn't. Making this just about Miami's staff is silly, because apparently up until now, there were no indications he was going anywhere except FSU. But for three major programs to offer him as QB on the same day says that something has to be brewing.
3) I dont know any more than anyone saying that it does. That was my point. Until we hear differently, we don't know. Not to mention there are no indications anywhere that any of those three are leaving. Kaaya has been solid and is visiting next week. Rosier has on numerous occasions said he speaks with Coley weekly, and isn't visiting anywhere else. Olsen was suspended but Golden said the other day that both he and Olsen are excited to get past it and get back with the team. This offer COULD have something to do with those three, but then what about the UF and AU offers? Is Driskel leaving? What about Nick Marshall? I don't think Grier or Sean White are flipping anywhere, but they saw fit to put out the same offer we did. Harris is dead set on being a QB. To get him to even consider you, that's the offer you have to give him. Unless his current choice is getting shaky, I see no other reason why three new offers roll in.

Until and if there develops a reason for concern about our other QB commits, I don't see the problem here. I have no idea what kind of discussions may have preceded the offer and what Treon might have expressed to the staff along the way.

The concern/question here for me is whether the offer signals a negative development with Olsen or Crow leaving the team. If that's the case, if Treon has stuck with his early comments about just wanting an opportunity to compete for a QB spot and if the staff has been staying on him along the way, maybe such a development allows the staff to now let Treon know that UM can offer him an opportunity to compete for a spot at QB, where numbers would not have allowed him snaps before.

I'm just not seeing a reason to criticize the staff about the offer at this point. I'd need to know more before jumping to that conclusion.

It's a tough spot for this staff. We couldn't offer him like we Edouard and then turn around and give him the cold shoulder. We know we can't afford to do that with another Booker T kid and risk that.

I agree with Lu it feels too much like the Skai Moore situation where it makes us look foolish. Now I can believe there is a whole lot more that both sides know and I'm sure it's not as bad as it looks, but still, it sounds out there.

This HAS to be about Olsen IMO. That, or they feel that Crow is a total washout and is never going to amount to jack, and are still nervous about Kaaya.

They didnt just suddenly "discover" Treon. This late offer smacks of something having changed, and them feeling they suddenly need a 3rd QB now. Does anyone really feel this staff is that stupid and unprepared in recruiting that they didnt consider offering Treon before now?

LMFAO. I mean this board is awesome. For years people have talked about how organized AG is, and the guy's anal retentive methodical about sh*t, Coley is a great recruiter, Treon is in our back yard, and we are very close to their team, and yet people think this was some "blunder" that we suddenly discovered and are now trying to fix?? Seriously? This is CLEARLY about some issue that has recently surfaced, and they are now racing to try to grab a 3rd QB.

It's possible but the Olsen flakiness has been going on for a LONG time. There has been rumblings of that since his he came in. Even if he was on thin ice before getting suspended for the bowl game, your logic would indicate that they should have offered Treon ages ago.

The majority of your posts are about how everyone else has their heads up their own asses. Get it together.

It's likely that hardly anyone thinks that this is about the staff "deciding they love Treon as a QB." This is about the staff seeming like they are chasing their own tails (whether true or not). Whether or not it has anything to do with Olsen is irrelevant to what this looks and feels like to the local crew. If you're not going to offer someone like Treon (QB or not) it's because you feel strongly about the situation. If you feel strongly about the situation, you don't alter that stance because there is "some movement" on the roster. This is bigger than the evaluation of a QB.

Negged for bringing logic and sanity to the table.

It's likely that hardly anyone thinks that this is about the staff "deciding they love Treon as a QB." This is about the staff being a solid three steps behind. Whether or not it has anything to do with Olsen is irrelevant to what this looks and feels like to the local crew. If only it was 3 steps

At least he didn't wait until signing day like he did with Skai Moore. It truly is a process afterall.
