We absolutely have the hogs to pull. We also have the hogs to use wider splits.

The tight splits we use are a disrespect to the Oline. You only use tight *** splits when you lack talent. Our guys can hold up 1 on 1 at the point of attack.

I am afraid the Louisville DC Ron English knew what play we were running based on formations. For example, if we lined up with no backs in the backfield, Louisville would show pressure and we would run a WR screen.

My hats off to the Louisville coaches on both sides of the ball. They were prepared. Now, let’s see if we can learn from this and move forward. We can’t afford to lose another game if we expect to make the CFP Playoffs

And on the flip side, Brohm spent two weeks rescheming plays and formations. He even developed a new set of plays for the 3 QB formation that he calls “three amigos”. He talked about it in his post game interview. He said the intent was to make the Miami defense have to think rather than react to the usual…. Pretty clear who wanted the win more

Dawson should definitely stick around a few more years before taking a head coaching job. Jumping ship now to take a non-power 4 job might be a career killer. He should take the Venables route. Venables was getting head-coaching interest almost every year at Clemson, but he stuck it out for 10 years, building his resume. He landed the Oklahoma job, and now he's set for life. He's about to have a great stretch of QB's coming and will always have a top offensive line in the country. There shouldn't be a rush for him to leave

Nobody knows someone's full motivation, but Dawson kind of has it made here. Working for Mario is definitely taxing, but I really don't think he recruits a ton. He just bought a nice house right before last season. He has 2 young girls, maybe he enjoys it here and doesn't want to move his family. You really never know. Some guys are career driven, they always need to find the next thing, the next challenge, etc. But how many HC jobs out there pay more than what he's making? He's gotta be at $2M a year right now. At least. How many G5 coaches make that? Certainly less than 5.

You keep getting promoted until you prove your ceiling. So teams are absolutely going to call, but do you leave this situation to move to, say, Charlottesville for double the money? I'm married, I know **** well it'd be hard to tell my wife I said no to doubling my salary, but nobody knows what's important to them personally. Is it only the money? Or are they comfortable here, the girls have made friends, they have a a nice house, etc.

If a P2 job comes calling, it'd be hard for him to say no. But I really don't see him leaving for anything less than that. $2M to do what he does and live in South Miami is pretty cush, IMO.

Always depends on how miserable the wife is, but he's definitely smart for waiting out a P2 job. His $2M could stretch further in a college town. Tulane wasn't worth the jump to him so I'd imagine he'd hold out for the Big 12 at the minimum

Think its where you keep moving up because of success until you reach a level where you are unsuccessful.. From GA, asst, position coach, Coord, HC..

Anyway Will Stein just got 5 years 28.5 Mil which at 2 mil, he would have to take.. Or get bumped up to highest paid asst. after winning CFP and Broyles with Heisman QB and Belitnikoff WR (yes I am speaking to existence!)

I say this knowing everyone eventually goes for the bigger paycheck, rightfully so, but I wonder how many coordinators rethink making the leap in the age of NIL. It seems like an entirely different beast and if you're currently attached to a head coach who absolutely loves it and a school with NIL funds I could see someone wondering if it's worth it.

If Mensah does what we think he will, and we're back in that 40 ppg ballpark, Dawson is getting a P2 offer. I think the bigger question is will it be smart to take it?

Let's say it's a complete rebuild like FSU or a solid but underfunded program like Pittsburgh or Illinois. Should he take that? If he stayed at Miami for 2 more years, he might end up getting offers from places like Tennessee, maybe even an Alabama or Georgia.

Personally, I'd stick with the 2-3M that Miami is paying me and bet on Mario to keep delivering me top notch player personnel to develop and wait for that $8M+ guaranteed contract in a couple of years over jumping to head up Pittsburgh.

Perfectly said- and I think that’s part of the reason he’s been here this long. If he took a job at say Rice University in Texas,
I’m not sure his salary is that much different on top of the added responsibilities he now has as a HC. The veneables/kirby smart route has proven to be the smart play. Too many hot coordinators take head coaching jobs where they are set up to fail

The key is to figure out how to double the salary without the wife knowing.

Does that mean he turns down a 30 million dollar offer to prove the university wrong and still have a 2-3 mil gig to fall back on if it doesnt work 4 years later? He only has soo long for that window to be open.. Even if he isnt "HC material", only one way to find out and you get paid 8 figures to..

Im not pretending to know whether or not he would take an HC job. Most coordinators do take the job when offered, so I think it is safe to say he would do what most do. I was only adding my opinion that I dont think he would make a good HC. I base this mostly on what I know about his recruiting, and what I have witnessed with his dealings with the media in interviews and such.
