Nobody knows someone's full motivation, but Dawson kind of has it made here. Working for Mario is definitely taxing, but I really don't think he recruits a ton. He just bought a nice house right before last season. He has 2 young girls, maybe he enjoys it here and doesn't want to move his family. You really never know. Some guys are career driven, they always need to find the next thing, the next challenge, etc. But how many HC jobs out there pay more than what he's making? He's gotta be at $2M a year right now. At least. How many G5 coaches make that? Certainly less than 5.
In my experience of years of following this, guys are more likely to leave than not. It's just kind of the way things go, it's called the Peter Principle. You keep getting promoted until you prove your ceiling. So teams are absolutely going to call, but do you leave this situation to move to, say, Charlottesville for double the money? I'm married, I know **** well it'd be hard to tell my wife I said no to doubling my salary, but nobody knows what's important to them personally. Is it only the money? Or are they comfortable here, the girls have made friends, they have a a nice house, etc.
If a P2 job comes calling, it'd be hard for him to say no. But I really don't see him leaving for anything less than that. $2M to do what he does and live in South Miami is pretty cush, IMO.
