Realistically though, if you look at our schedule, there isn't a break there left where Godlen can quickly amass some easy wins to shore up his support. There are no more cupcakes. Even GT in Atlanta will be a war. Cincinnati is a good team. UNC is the only game which I am confident in. They are trash. We will prolly beat Pitt.

UVA will kill us up there. Godlens ceiling at this point is 7-5 and he's likely to be 6-6. He is toast and I think he knows it,

if we beat pitt, nc , bt cin gtare up in the air who esle can we beat? Every one of those teams are better than Nebraska on our schedule after that. VT, DUKE, FSU, VA all better than Nebraska

I think we will go 1-1 against GT/Duke. I think our offense will power us to a win over Cincinnati in a close contest. I think VT is lame but we will find a way to lose in Blacksburg. FSU is a loss. Miami will beat UNC convincingly. Miami will get hammered at Virginia and come home for a close win against Pitt.

Officially, the AD decides. However, no one will be hired without vetting from the BOT. The Bot basically gives the AD the selection, the AD agrees. The AD never disagrees with the BOT "recommendation".

I'm not worried about it. This is big business. UM has professionals in this arena that work on things like this. It doesn't stand to reason that UM would sign a long term contract where they would have absolutely no recourse should things not work out. I'm sure there's a buyout, it's probably not an insignificant amount, but probably not an insurmountable amount either. There is going to be a point where it makes more financial sense to pay the buyout and fire the guy than continue to suffer the lost revenue from fielding a ****** team.

last year I thought this but Golden made a fatal flaw.

during the Cloud, it was obvious the admin cared nothing about results, just weather the storm. Golden did his job. But then he made the PSU mistake, followed by the bowl disaster. That was his first really huge mistake. He hurt egos, and you don't **** with egos on that level. He made us look foolish. Now the sanctions had passed, suddenly there's a closer eye on the program as far as results go, and he has promptly **** all over himself.

The pressure has mounted like an avalanche. It was always there, but people just didn't care. But you can feel it now.....his seat is on fire.

Exactly. To me, it makes sense that they'd want him to have a smaller buy out in exchange for the longer number of years. And even then, it's not like UM is going to have to pay this huge chunk of change at once. I have zero doubt that they buyout is manageable.

This is a real possibility. Unlikely but when players start quitting wins will be hard to come by. I can't see anyway this team wins 5 games. No freaking way. That really should give Al Golden his walking papers.

What cost UM more money, Al Golden's buyout, or continually getting embarrassed on national TV? If you think he is not on the hot seat, don't kid yourself. Being the coach at UM is the permanent hot seat. Sometimes they let the water boil too long (a la Coker), but other times, they extremely shrewd and get right to the bottom line, just ask Randy Shannon. For all of Shannon's shortcomings he was loyal and a Cane through and through. Whatever currency he gained by navigating the Shapiro scandal, he cashed in when he interviewed for Penn State and still had a job to come back to at UM. This is the most important point of all: No one likes to be #2, aka Plan B. Once you put your employer on notice they're #2, you're on the hot seat. He said UM was a destination job, the most powerful brand in sports. We all knew that was press conference BS and that for an NFL gig, maybe a top college money college job, he'd be interested, but not a post-*** scandal PSU.

He may not fire Dno, but he's going to have to do something about that side of the ball. When the season is over. Too bad we didn't bring this offense to louisville.
