Scrimmage #3 Stats / Discussion

Anyone know who the QB for the scout team was?
Saw on TOS it was a combination of Perry (6-16, 57 yards, 2 INTs) and Weldon (3-8, 15 yards, 1 INT)

you can't be serious....I'm hoping he was playing against the 1st team D

Yes, he was running the scout team...and:

• The top receivers on the scout team were walk-on TE Malik Curry (2-20), walk-on WR Marshall Few (2-17), and TE Brian Polendey (2-14).

Doubt last year's Heisman winner would fair well vs our D with that cast

I wasn't concerned about the cast or the INTs but I think it's fair to think he could've had a better completion percentage.

so, if injury wasn't a factor, you're telling me we would go 1's vs 1's?

you couldn't be more wrong. it's about our #1 defense getting prepared for bethune's offense and running our defense against them.

and it's about our offense getting looks and running plays and scheme's against what bethune's defense does.

and neither 1st team is going to spend time prepping and learning opposing team's plays and offenses/defenses when they are prepping for our own game plan.

and they give "looks" and schemes. they aren't going hard and live against our 1st team offense all week.

wrong, but, keep going...

nope, it's not about injury. it's about running the other teams plays so they are prepared for what the other team does. you don't have your #1 offense run bethune's plays and mimic their offense for the benefit of the 1st team defense. that's what scout team is for. our #1 offense runs our offense against scout D bethune's defense.

what good is our number 1 defense learning and running bethune's defense for our #1 offense all week?

Wrong.

It's all about injury.

So the scout team is playing two hand touch?
Injury can happen with practice that involves tackling.

Dennis Erickson
Kyle Whittingham
Gary Anderson

All three have told me to my face that it's all about injury.

But I'll let you carry on.

So did Richt misspeak or did the stat guys get it wrong?

The stats guys got it wrong to start and Richt just read off of a piece a paper. He talked about some drops and balls batted down along with Rosier missing a couple. That wouldn't fit in with just 4 incompletions.

I think it is a combination of both. Obviously right now for this scrimmage it was because you wanted the #2 defense and offense to resemble Bethune Cookman and their plays. This is what happens the week before a game. Your scout team for both offense and defense become the team you are going to verse.

But we have been playing #1 offense vs #2 defense since the start of training camp and we were not running Bethune Cookman plays until today. I never understood why, but it could very well be because of injury.

It's sad that there are folks here that truly hate Rosier

You have folks that will take Perry's 6-16 and 2INTs, over Rosiers 18-32 and 2TD's (in the rain). Folks love Perry as if here were kin

"Last fall, UM’s scout team beat the starters in that type of late-camp setting. As a reward, Richt bought them a meal of steak and lobster. The No. 1 unit had to eat “beans and weenies,” he recalled.

“Walton remembered that and said, ‘Do we get the good meal?’” Richt recalled, breaking into a laugh. “I said, ‘No, you’re supposed to win.”

Richt misspoke. 18-32 makes a lot more sense than 18-22, and it's still a reasonable completion percentage (56%).

As mentioned, balls were wet, not unlike mine on a Saturday night, Richt specifically mentioned drops, and AR and Brax didn't play. That production in those circumstances, no INTs...Daddy likes.

Objectively, regardless of weather, that's a poor completion rate vs. our scout team. The drops are on the receivers. They need to secure the ball more. But the batted balls and bad throws are on Rosier no matter how slippery the football is. We won't accept that excuse when we play at Pitt in November, we shouldn't accept it now. I hope and expect him to play better as he gets his sea legs.

Malek Young got another INT

Our fans are just retarded.

Where was your whining when Kaaya had far worse stats, including 2 INTs, in the final scrimmage last year?
