Scrimmage #3 Stats / Discussion

Richt misspoke. 18-32 makes a lot more sense than 18-22, and it's still a reasonable completion percentage (56%).

As mentioned, balls were wet, not unlike mine on a Saturday night, Richt specifically mentioned drops, and AR and Brax didn't play. That production in those circumstances, no INTs...Daddy likes.

Objectively, regardless of weather, that's a poor completion rate vs. our scout team. The drops are on the receivers. They need to secure the ball more. But the batted balls and bad throws are on Rosier no matter how slippery the football is. We won't accept that excuse when we play at Pitt in November, we shouldn't accept it now. I hope and expect him to play better as he gets his sea legs.

Not knowing how many drops there were really makes it illogical to bash that percentage. Were there 2 drops or 6? Those are solid numbers in a downpour.

Matt Porter said the scrimmage ended before the rain so WTF came up with this wet ball bull****?

:durantunimpressed:

Didn't read that. Still, drops are drops, and not on the QB.

18-32 (56%) for Rosier; not 18-22 (82%).

That's horrific.

Kaaya threw two picks including a pick six as he was driving for the win in the same situation last year.

Rosier isn't a finished a product but he didn't turn the ball over in the rain and his team "won" without the benefit of having Mark Walton being able to break tackles and pick up extra yards.

What the **** does that have to do with Rosier stinking it up against the scout team? You might as well be saying "Kirby Freeman went 1-17 against NC State". Completely irrelevant.

Kaaya carved up our defense in fall camp last year. Same can't be said for Rosier.

Fake news.

Lol this lame thought he made a point

I wouldn't put too much emphasis on the scrimmage stats. Malik is a gamer, and tough hombre who's only gonna get better as the year goes on.

Not surprised he won the starting job and I think he can win big games for us.

It may have not rained during scrimmage by some miracle, but it was pouring all morning at the campus. No way the field wasn't soaked.

Kirby made the throw of his life against FSU. For that throw, he has a pass for life in my eyes.

Malek Young got another INT

The sky is blue

Water is wet

Our fans are just retarded.

Where was your whining when Kaaya had far worse stats, including 2 INTs, in the final scrimmage last year?

Because Kaaya did badly in his final scrimmage, my "whining" about Rosier is retarded. Yep, makes sense. Thanks for the words of wisdom, chief.

Sherrifs did not play, reason?

This was a scrimmage simulating a game vs Bethune Cookman. They gave the scout team (Bethune Cookman) a 24-0 lead. Rosier is our starting QB so he got all the snaps, the game ended 32-24 so at no point was it a place for Sherrifs to play.

I'm not chicken little, I agree there are mitigating circumstances. CMR said there were 3-4 drops. That's on the WRs. The ball may have been a little slippery and the field may have been a little wet. Perhaps most importantly, that Scout team DL was pretty good, and Diaz probably knew we would be passing much more often than running the ball, so he almost certainly loaded the box on us. But batted and missed passes against the scout team isn't ideal. Malik needs to keep progressing. That's my main point.

The Completion rate I can understand because of the weather, but what's worrisome is the batted passes! He's short for a QB, and I'm sure every DC knows that. Richt is going to have to get him out of the pocket or take some major 5 to 7 drops. That's what concern me about Rosier. Sidenote: Berrios was tripping about sitting this scrimmage out lol..Jeff Thomas went off lol

Wring those shaky hands! Shirreffs, who is 6'5 has had more balls batted down than Rosier. Our DL is masterful at knocking down passes. Kool teaches it. DJax and Patchan are monsters at it.

yes, and an important point about "batted balls" ... hold the joke for a moment .... is that unless you are talking about the upper part of the passing tree, say the 7, 8, and 9 routes, the QB isn't really throwing "over" the DL. He's actually throwing through passing lanes.

So while it is great to be 6 ft 5, being 6-1 doesn't necessarily mean you are (or are not) going to have balls deflected at the LOS. Most (but not all) deflections at the LOS are due to one of two things: OL poor technique of not getting hands of the DL down, and/or the QB not being at the correct point in the pocket (or on time with the throw) to drive the ball through the proper passing lane and this allows the DL to close down the lane and deflect the ball.

That's why a guy like Drew Brees rarely has balls deflected, even though he's only 6 feet tall. He's in the right place and throwing at the right time.

And it's why Malik, as he's improved, has been less susceptible to "getting his balls batted" .... and now i've set you up perfectly, and expect you to hit it out of the park!

What is the logic behind not having the #1 offense go against the #1 defense?

Injury.

We've been over this a ton of times but we can do it again.

Rarely do you see 1's-vs-1's in college football until bowl practices. That's why bowl practices are so important.

Not about injury... Entire team does not travel to bowl games.

Are you intentionally being a dumb fvck right now?

taking after u, dumb *******... it has nothing to do with injury D U M B *******!

You daft *******.

You are implying that all of the bowl practices are held in the city where the bowl game is.

You do realize that teams have most of their bowl practices at home facilities BEFORE they travel right?
