Scrimmage #3 Stats / Discussion

18-32 (56%) for Rosier; not 18-22 (82%).

That's horrific.

Kaaya threw two picks including a pick six as he was driving for the win in the same situation last year.

Rosier isn't a finished a product but he didn't turn the ball over in the rain and his team "won" without the benefit of having Mark Walton being able to break tackles and pick up extra yards.

Rosier isn't going to be a 65% thrower, but as long as he limits turnovers and uses his legs to pick up 1st downs he can minimize that

Walton: 8.5 ypc is good to see
Thomas: 19 ypr is ******* insane, regardless of who it's against
Young: Might need to change my forecast for who is going to lead this team in picks
DL: Had several more ball knocked down. I think this is an unsung skill of our group. We bat down a ton of passes! It's demoralizing for the offense

There were a handful during last year's UM-FSU game. To think that we were one more batted pass away from winning that damned game...

The Completion rate I can understand because of the weather, but what's worrisome is the batted passes! He's short for a QB, and I'm sure every DC knows that. Richt is going to have to get him out of the pocket or take some major 5 to 7 drops. That's what concern me about Rosier. Sidenote: Berrios was tripping about sitting this scrimmage out lol..Jeff Thomas went off lol

Wring those shaky hands! Shirreffs, who is 6'5 has had more balls batted down than Rosier. Our DL is masterful at knocking down passes. Kool teaches it. DJax and Patchan are monsters at it.

He will have some batted passes throughout the season no doubt, but lets be honest with ourselves...we became one of the better teams that bat down passes on the DL the second Kool was hired. Great DL coaches make this part of there identity and stress it very hard from day 1. Kool has stressed getting your hands up from the jump.

HAHAHA beat me to it!

Perry and weldon should benefit from all the reps they been getting vs the 1s defense.

Ohhhhhhh boyyy. Handed the kid the keys and he proceeds to go ball. Idc what defense that was against- that's EFFICIENT and PROTECTIVE. Those are all we need out of Malik. Keep the chains moving and keep the ball on our side. The D will hold it down and give you a chance to win every game with out him having to carry the team.

I promise you that this is all I want from Malik. Just don't be the reason we lose games.

If Robert Burns can stay healthy, I know we've all said that before, but this kid will be hard to beat out if not impossible if he does stay healthy

What is the logic behind not having the #1 offense go against the #1 defense?

Injury.

We've been over this a ton of times but we can do it again.

Rarely do you see 1's-vs-1's in college football until bowl practices. That's why bowl practices are so important.

Richt misspoke. 18-32 makes a lot more sense than 18-22, and it's still a reasonable completion percentage (56%).

As mentioned, balls were wet, not unlike mine on a Saturday night, Richt specifically mentioned drops, and AR and Brax didn't play. That production in those circumstances, no INTs...Daddy likes.

nope, it's not about injury. it's about running the other teams plays so they are prepared for what the other team does. you don't have your #1 offense run bethune's plays and mimic their offense for the benefit of the 1st team defense. that's what scout team is for. our #1 offense runs our offense against scout D bethune's defense.

what good is our number 1 defense learning and running bethune's defense for our #1 offense all week?

Wrong.

It's all about injury.

so, if injury wasn't a factor, you're telling me we would go 1's vs 1's?

you couldn't be more wrong. it's about our #1 defense getting prepared for bethune's offense and running our defense against them.

and it's about our offense getting looks and running plays and scheme's against what bethune's defense does.

and neither 1st team is going to spend time prepping and learning opposing team's plays and offenses/defenses when they are prepping for our own game plan.

and they give "looks" and schemes. they aren't going hard and live against our 1st team offense all week.

wrong, but, keep going...

Great point and attention to detail. You have a great career ahead of you as a reporter or author, if you choose one of those paths.

So the scout team is playing two hand touch?
Injury can happen with practice that involves tackling.

Rosier stats sucked against the scout team. I feel bad for the other QBs going against our first team dline behind our pathetic scout team oline

nope, not about injury. it's about scout team players spending time prepping the other side of the ball for the upcoming team's offense and defense. you don't prep our 1st team with our 1st team players running opposing team plays. we run our plays vs our scout team (opposing team) players.
