So I'm reading into these numbers and what you're saying is that we are going to be 6-0 next year 5-1 and the worst. I like it, and believe it.

We've talked about the whole SEC propping themselves up off other highly ranked SEC teams. The SEC gets these top ten ranked teams, then lose to other lower ranked SEC teams and they just switch spots. The ACC what I noticed doesnt exactly get into the top ten enough. They get lot of 15-25 rankings, so when an ACC team beats a #18 ranked team they don't move up nearly as much.

Relly, it would be interesting if their salaries were inserted also.

How TF is Freeman making more than Venables?

One thing i take solace in is i believe mario in 3-4 years will have us ready just hope we dont get stuck with his gameday coaching which is horrific hopefully if he under performs we can hire someone else to maximize mario’s recruiting ability, maybe he will adapt and become a better coach i doubt it though but either way the program will be in better shape just hope we make the move if we have to

Thanks bro, & I knew that’s the angle u were going, & I agree w/ u to a point.

However, I like to think CFB teams to my former line of business, which was flipping homes. Some homes we would get in & out, minimum cost of purchase & rehab, but the return wasn’t great. There was one ambitious project that me & my guys took on; it seemed cool at first, until we found out the f’ing house was leaning & there was termite damage in the roof, & electrical that needed complete replacement. By far the most expensive flip ever, & the most timely, but it was also the biggest pay out we had ever made.

Just looking at all these coaches, here’s the 10 yr history (‘11 - ‘21) of each program they took over:

1. TCU: 88-53 (5 bowl wins (1-NY6), 2 Conf Titles)

2. USC: 87-49 (3 bowl wins (1-NY6), 1 Conf Title, 3 Division Titles)

3. UO: 103-37 (6 bowl wins (4-NY6), 4 Conf Titles, 7 Division Titles)

4. LSU: 104-28 (1 Nat Title, 6 bowl wins (3-NY6, 2 Conf Titles, 2 Division Titles)

5. UW: 85-50 (3 bowl wins, 2 Conf Titles, 4 Division Titles

6. Duke: 65-73 (3 bowl wins, 1 Division Title)

7. WASU: 67-60 (2 bowl wins, 1 Division Title)

8. UF: 87-46 (5 bowl wins (2-NY6, 4 Division Titles)

9. OU: 127-27 (5 bowl wins (3-NY6, 7 Conf Titles)

10. TT: 63-69 (3 bowl wins)

11. ND: 105-36 (4 bowl wins)

12. UM: 79-53 (1 bowl win, 1 Division Title)

13. UVA: 58-76 (1 bowl win, 1 Division Title)

14. VT: 84-59 (4 bowl wins, 2 Division Titles)

So based upon a 10 yr scope:

Teams with the most wins-
1. OU
2. ND
3. LSU
4. UO
5. TCU
T-6. USC
T-6. UF
8. UW
9. VT
10. UM
11. WASU
12. Duke
13. TT
14. UVA

Teams with most draft picks in the 1st 3-rounds:
1. LSU (46)
2. UF (30)
3. ND (29)
4. OU (24)
5. USC (23)
6. Washington (22)
7. UO (15)
8. UM (13)
9. TCU (11)
10. VT (8)
T-11. UVA (4)
T-11. WASU (4)
T-11. TT (4)
14. Duke. (2)

Teams with the most amount of accomplishments-
1. LSU

3. OU (*2 CFP Game Appearances)
4. ND (*1 Nat’l Game, 1 CFP Appearance)
5. UW (*1 CFP Appearance)
6. TCU
7. USC
8. UF
9. VT
10. WASU
11. Duke
12. UM
13. UVA
14. TT

So yeah, we’re paying good money to not just rehab a program, but complete rebuild an old Victorian Home to its original features, b/c it’s been dilapidated over the years compared to other programs with the same cache. The $8m is a long term investment, not microwave results.

Relly the flipper... very interesting. I'm fully retired but I did real-estate parttime and I still maintain my Realtor license. I have many friends that did flipping like you... and did quite well. I agree with you about the long-term factor and the investment return... but in real-estate we look for dirt cheap deals.
IMO... football is much harder to predict as compared to real-estate investments.
My friend, by nature I'm an optimist just like you... however, this forum has mostly the opposite mindset and I find myself playing the devil's advocate just for shyts and grins. I honestly believe that MC has more time to prove himself, however, incremental improvement must be part of the equation. Miami fans are cruel muthas too.

Let's Go Canes!

Oh, yeah; we used to look throughout Santa Ana, So Central L.A (which is not a real area, but that’s a different story), Garden Grove, when those homes were all trending down. The property in Fullerton was the ambitious joint; the price was decent, but it was also a sight unseen bid. The photos looked cool, but it was definitely missing some pictures. Lol. Once the contractor came out, dude….that’s all I could say, but we made a killing off that joint.

Mario had his work cut out for him, from top to bottom. It wasn’t just the on field product, but our entire infrastructure was stuck in the early 2000’s. So between an inconsistent roster that’s been 7-5 continuously, an admin who needed to step in the 2010’s, rebuilding broken relationships w/ local schools; well, there’s a reason y we’ve been the lumped w/ the TTs, UVAs, Dukes, & WASUs of the world.

We were 2-4 last yr at this time & now 3-3. A black eye loss to MTSU sullies that 3-3 mark. I didn’t think we would be 3-3 at this point, but rather 4-2. I still have us going 8-4 to close out the season, & winning a bowl game. I think this team winning 2 in a row will inspire some confidence, & we even play Clemson tough. The only caveat are these **** injuries; my goodness.

Unless you are writing the checks, I have never understood getting more upset over a coach underperforming because he is being paid more. If the gripe is, "well we could have had Coach X for $Y," then you should be mad at the people paying the (wrong) coach. In this particular instance, I'm not sure that's accurate because I don't believe the people paying were willing to pay anyone else who would've taken the job for that money but Mario.

Year-1 is a foundational year, year-2 is when fans should expect significant improvement.

Still, this year has been a disappointment when you look at things holistically--especially when you see first year coaches like Riley and Dykes having the success they are in their first years at new schools.
Riley moved OU to USC he's not the typical first year coach. Dykes SO FAR has done the most impressive job in the country.

Brother, there’s so many factors involved in a football squad, it’s crazy. Yes Mario has his work cut out and then some… but he can’t do squat without quality recruiting. Barring ***** coaching, you can’t beat the big boys without great talent… and you can’t just pull’em out of a bag. However, the lack of speed that we are seeing is puzzling... makes me think that it’s a coaching and play calling problem…. especially the defense.
Whats your opinion on that?

This lack of speed have been existent since 2019, & that’s not a coincidence. We have a couple of guys that have a little wheels on them, but from top to bottom, we have very few guys that can blow the top off (pause.)

It’s evident af; & that’s one thing we must do, recruit athletes that are football players, again. I feel like we’ve been recruiting straight football players w/ limited athleticism.

We should leave Riley out of this. Lol. Riley changed that entire roster, including the main driving force, his QB which was ready made for him. Dykes on the other hand, impressed.

My 23 yo son says after the loss to UNC “the commit recruits ain’t coming here after seeing this garbage”. We can’t afford these losses and expect to rebuild this team with elite players.

Most 1st yr coaches, especially one w pedigree, gets a 1st yr bump. ****, we went 6-7 in 2019 & even Diaz got a bump w/ the 11th ranked class. Golden, under sanctions, going 6-6 got a bump w/ the 10th ranked class. Richt, after a 4 game losing streak in the middle of the season, got a 1st yr bump after a 9-4 season w/ the #12 class.

I’m just saying, most recruits see a failed season at a big school as a means for hope & early playing time. ****, Scott Frost, after going 4-8 had a recruiting bump 1st yr.

I just don’t see a mass exodus coming; I’m pretty sure Mario has made it known how these young men can come in, & make a significant difference w/ PT. We’ll see, bro.
