Saleem Brightwell OLB NJ

We're gonna end up with more commits from NJ/NY than recruits ranked in the Top 50 in Dade or Broward, aren't we? And certainly more LB commits from NJ than South Florida. That's absurd.

No disrespect to this specific recruit, but overlooking a kid like Talan is ridiculous in itself. Knowing we have a desperate need at the position and aren't even recruiting him only makes it worse.

Depth is depth. im just glad we have a defensive player on our radar. Just someone to develop, be a special teams guy, and reserve for when our superstar LB class gets here next year (hopefully they all stick)

Wish we could have gotten in on Kilby-Lane. That kid hits like a truck Very mean attacking LBer.

Ron Turner is breathing a sigh of relief that Folden isn't looking to pillage his commit list like he is doing FAU.

If he's from NJ, he must be good:stephenahand:

or be follow your blueprint and wait for our "s.fla divas"

The whole "South Florida divas" label is a myth invented and often thrown out by Golden supporters in an attempt to excuse his woeful inability to land premier talent from our own backyard. The next most popular tactic used by the few remaining slurpers is to baselessly claim they were paid off to go elsewhere.

There are kids who make spectacles of the recruiting process from all over the country. Local studs just see through Golden's ineptitude and used car salesman recruiting pitches far more easily than recruits from other areas of the country.

Can you imagine if we listened to all the geniuses who ONLY want south Florida athletes....... Guess we wouldn't have Dorsey, DJ Williams, Ed Reed, Winslow, Portis, Romberg, Russell Maryland, testaverde, torreta, Mckinnie, Kelly, Reggie Wayne, DanielStubbs, Philip buchanon..... Among others.

At the end of the day, just get the best players from wherever the heck they are. You can't take every player on your roster from south florida or you miss out on great players. Example is everyone wanting Treon Harris when we had Kayaa.

I'll say this, he plays at a powerhouse in Paramus Catholic. Second, look at his offer list. We are on par with those schools as a program. UM is no longer a top program, so the top kids don't want to come here other then the kids that really want to be Canes

There's a distinct difference between those who want the UM roster to be comprised solely of South Florida talent and those who are justifiably/vehemently criticizing Golden for having just 4 commits from Dade and Broward.

Nice strawman, though.

Wasn't trying to strawman.... It's just all day every day the same thing about getting every player in south Florida. No one ever goes through all the south Florida kids we don't take that don't do anything later. All we hear is Skai Moore all day. I want more south Florida kids, but not all or close to all.

Everyone who has 2 brain cells to rub together looks at this class and sees an absolute garbage close coming...then they look at all the So Fla ballers we aren't offering even though what we take in their place is going to be sub-optimal...and then they get ****ed. This staff sucks and they don't offer enough of the "second tier" So Fla kids because they lack vision, and then to compound it they take OOS kids that almost ALWAYS fail instead of the kids from their backyard who have better bust-rates. Deal with it.

It's absolutely a strawman. And the reason fans on a UM message board constantly call for more South Florida talent is because we're fortunate enough to be located in the most fertile recruiting ground in the entire country. It's common sense to want to land as many local studs as possible.

Even your last comment in the previous post about how many fans were vocal about wanting Harris when we already had Kaaya committed. That's because it's imperative to land quality depth, especially at a position as important as QB.

And now we're heading into Golden's completely undeserved fifth year here with just 2 scholarship QBs on the roster. After losing Lawson, we're now desperately trying to flip an FAU commit. That's how bad it's gotten under this staff. If Kaaya suffers an injury and has to miss time next season, we won't win a single game with him sidelined.
