There’s no comparison between Ruiz and Nevin. Ruiz is a legitimate businessman whereas Shapiro was a wannabe weasel. Canes know the difference but those that wish to do harm will inevitably try and and connect the two to continue the negative narrative to keep us suppressed.

They thankfully occupy opposite sides of the spectrum however.

We believe Ruiz donates for (mostly) altruistic purposes (but perhaps not as pure as Carol Soffer) while Nevin did not.

A few things...

it wasn't a comparison but rather a contrast...big difference friends.

Even with that said, other fan bases AND the NCAA (it appears) are taking the comparative tact.

Miami has always had to walk a high wire and with Ruiz as "the face of NIL", I believe it could make that wire even higher...and windy.

I hope he follows through and not only challenges NCAA, but punches them in their smug faces and puts his boot on their pencil necks.

Soffer = old money. Ruiz = new money. Different stages in their lives with obvious different motives for giving. Whatever the motive - legally, of course - Miami is fortunate both are benefactors of the athletic programs.

No, what’s unwarranted is ****heads on here insulting and going after the guy funding our NIL. He didn’t do a god**** thing wrong. Stop blaming him and not the NCAA. Meier reached out to him and the NCAA gave us a year probation for that.
