Ruiz potentially suing the NCAA….

How do some on here not understand why Ruiz is always on Twitter getting attention? I mean he probably likes it but he's also on because the entire point of his NIL involvement is marketing for his businesses. He's attracted a ton of attention for himself and his businesses, he's done a terrific job at it actually.

A lot of the silent boosters that everyone aspires for are paying into collectives which are literal pay for play and absolutely should be gone after by the NCAA, even though we know they won't.

I mean Ruiz is one of the few people doing this by the letter of the law while the vast majority of others aren't, yet the NCAA is blatantly going after Miami because it's what they always do.

Then you have people in here who hate Ruiz and not the NCAA. So dumb.
It’s a ******, entitled , toxic fanbase. Why would you expect this fanbase to stick by one of their own ? The one person who’s putting his money where his mouth is.

I know I'm late to this but thanks my dude. This is the stuff I been thinking since Ruiz came on the scene. I lurk cause I don't have the energy to engage. Everybody on here trying win some bs debate instead of just conversing like a normal person.

No one annoys me more than the guy that needs to be right, regardless of the situation. They'll be the one at the funeral telling the widow "see, I told him he was gonna die if he didn't change his ways."

Like Dan Lebatard talking about the emotional or "human" side of sports & condescending to his critics claiming he's trying to get people to think. NO man, we understand, we just don't give a ****.

People who use the word "rep" exhaust me. It's cringe as **** to care what people think about you that **** much.

Omnes twatwaffles dormiunt *** piscibus

Somebody check me to make sure I didn't say, "All twatwaffles are jelly donuts", I'm rusty in mastery of dead romance languages

obviously a reference to JFK's speech at the Berlin Wall when he wanted to say "I am a berliner" but really said "I am a jelly filled doughnut".

Ich bin ein Berinliner v Ich bin eine Berliner.

I've learned a lot aren't fans persay of the team as the are the internet and the toxicity it provides to their needs...
Most are likely on forums of all varieties acting out in the same manner they do here .... Troll for life mentality.... Lol

I don’t think the flack that he’s getting has anything to do with him promoting his business at all.
Most of the people that don’t like it, including myself, are just being scared, honestly.

From a pure business standpoint it’s brilliant. It’s also been brilliant he found a way to also support the program legally and he’s able to freely announce anything he wants on social media.

But most of us that have been around this program since the 80s understand how much hate the NCAA has towards Miami and how much hate the Blue Bloods have towards this program. There’s always the sentiment that we have to be so goody two shoes because the NCAA is constantly looking and waiting for us to do something wrong

Just like a lot of our younger fanbase doesn’t really understand what has gone on in the past, a lot of other fan bases really don’t even know what happened to Miami in the past.
However, they repeat what ever any old head that was a fan of Ohio State or Alabama or Georgia says. If grandpa and dad say that Miami’s a dirty program that’s full of thugs, then that’s what they believe. Now all of a sudden NCAA comes in with probation and it continues to feed a narrative that’s already existed.

But I also believe that this lawsuit likely needs to happen. And maybe a lot of the bullying that the NCAA has done is because of the Shapiro scandal backfiring on them.

If Miami has had a target on its back because the NCAA has been wanting retribution because we made them look stupid; then they might have to except to let bygones be bygones or risk a possibility of getting embarrassed again.

They are always going to come for us. They are always going to hate us. They are always going to try to step on our necks to give the teams they favor an advantage. **** that. If we want to compete, we need to run right at them.

All this 1500% and on top of it, the poster is calling it brilliant business and a brilliant way to support us paying players legally… so stop there. That’s feeding us.

That said, @pacusmc there’s a big difference in the reasonable and respectful way posters like you and @Rellyrell have raised concerns - which I get - and the way the entitled, loudmouth fink rat “miami fan” weasels have gotten on here and insulted and disrespected the guy spending millions to try and do something to help us compete as the NCAA goes after us once again while others like the gator skate by.

What do you think drives Ruiz to support Miami?

Genuine love? Ego? Sense of community?

Contrast that with say a Nevin Shapiro who, I believe, contributed out of a sense of wanting to belong, of seeking validation, that type of thing.

He's an alumnus, as are his three children, two of which played baseball at Miami, and I think his daughter was a cheerleader or something too. He's one of us. He loves the U, because he's part of the U, as is his entire family.

I don’t like the Nevin comparisons given the connotations our enemies try raising. As I’ve said previously, I grew up with Nevin on the Beach. I got along with him fine personally but there’s no comparison between the two in terms of values and mentality.

I don’t know what drives Ruiz. He seems like a fan and a Miami guy who loves UM the way a number of us do. I’m sure there’s something to being in a financial position to be able to make a difference and leaving a legacy/impact. I’m speculating though on him. I appreciate what he’s done to help us.

I was contrasting [hopefully] Ruiz's more worthy reasons for participating vs Nevin's more self-serving (pathetic really] reasons...

Oh I know. It’s as you said. I just don’t like talking about Ruiz, who runs legitimate businesses, in the same context and time as Nevin, given what Nevin was convicted of because I’ve seen the gator board throwing Ruiz’s name in with Nevin’s and it’s a smear attempt.

There’s no comparison between Ruiz and Nevin. Ruiz is a legitimate businessman whereas Shapiro was a wannabe weasel. Canes know the difference but those that wish to do harm will inevitably try and and connect the two to continue the negative narrative to keep us suppressed.

For myself I just look at the fact that one was a legitimate businessman with a solid track record to back it while the other was behind a large scale ponzi scheme that landed him prison time...
That kinda clears up the personality part for me...

I hate the comparisons… irks me when our fans go there…

I get the move in silence thing. That’s not how he moves with this. He’s promoted his business by being boisterous. So since he’s writing checks that comes along with it.

And you can believe that the move in silence thing won’t protect the NCAA’s bag school favorited when ex-players and others are subpoenaed for testimony…. When the NCAA’s enforcement staff and ex-staff is subpoenaed and asked how they prioritize enforcement.

They’re not going to get a free pass. They’re going to get dragged through muck.
RVA...the NCAA knows what they are in for if Ruiz files. They would have to allocate, investigate, and prep for litigation which cost money and time for a result that may be a toss up.
They will review and " come to an agreement " with Ruiz when all is reviewed and completed.
What would be the upside for the NCAA, when they enacted rules After the fact for rules of the NIL, and left it to the States to set parameters?.
Loss , loss for them.

A few things...

it wasn't a comparison but rather a contrast...big difference friends.

Even with that said, other fan bases AND the NCAA (it appears) are taking the comparative tact.

Miami has always had to walk a high wire and with Ruiz as "the face of NIL", I believe it could make that wire even higher...and windy.

I hope he follows through and not only challenges NCAA, but punches them in their smug faces and puts his boot on their pencil necks.
