Richt on King

Why in God's name do you think he's remotely qualified to be an athletic administrator?

This is akin to saying Macho Man Randy Savage would have made a solid event planner.

Judging by Richt’s excessive loyalty and unwillingness to hold his own staff accountable or make changes, he’d have been an awful AD.

Who recruited and coached those immature guys? A miss here and there for sure. To miss on that many guys is all on the coaching staff. By the way I did not see a ton of talent at the QB position. Rosier was not a D1 QB period. Take away King and you have the same situation. The jury is out on TVD since we have not seen him play.

Happy thanksgiving man and I tend to agree with that. Still we went from dog **** and not even being a desirable Job after Shannon and Golden to at least looking like a modern CFB program
Then we wasted Richt's gift by spending 4 minutes, and $4m, hiring a first time HC.

Good times.

I feel like this wasnt just a QB thing. Felt like the whole team was talented enough to be a top 25 team.

We had a work problem. We couldnt establish a culture of competition and hard work and the guys who were supposed to be leaders, didnt step up. Malik even spoke about it in a podcast not too long ago, saying that guys didnt know the plays because they werent studying at all.

Given that it matches up with what Bryant McKinnie said about the offensive line group, players not knowing what happens on a certain play, its actually absurd to hear it. Some teams, both professional and in the college world, require players to know everything that happens during a play, what kind of techniques are used and all that stuff. Its to the point where you have to know what everyone is doing or you cant play.

This is a team sport and if you dont have a unit that consistenly is aware of the situation and what is currently happening and what needs to be done to make the play a successful play, you are screwed. One bad apple ***** up the whole basket.

If you’re going to half *** coach a team, you better hire experienced assistants to do the heavy lifting and not name a glorified running back coach your OC and your kid the QB coach. People think Richt was on cruise control here but I think it’s the opposite. He put way too much on himself to do everything on offense. Recruiting was spotty too.

Richt did leave the program better than he found it, but mostly because he didn't hold on another year and force us into a gigantic buyout. Sure, he is a nice guy and good person, and he really did want to win here, but the man refused to listen to reason. When the wheels came off after a big showing against ND, that was his window to upgrade the staff, hand over playcalling, and be the credible CEO the program needs. The next season we opened with a loss to LSU that basically showed we were right where we left off the last time we played them.

Coulda been a great CEO if he just let go of play calling and his son. He seems happy though
I never understand these ‘ceo coach’ comments. What does that even mean? isn’t it the job of a ‘great ceo’ to pick his staff and hold them accountable? CEOs are supposed to set culture. Richt left this place close to poisonous. Ceos are supposed to recruit. Richt was lazy at recruiting, evidence leaving seats unfilled.

I personally don’t think this ‘ceo coach’ thing is real at all. but if it is real, richt ain’t it. He didn’t even want that role. He wanted to call plays. He just sucked at it.

the ‘ceo cosch’ position is a label for guys who didn’t progress through an elite coordinator status. It’s a misunderstanding of the job. they still have to pick their staff and schemes, create the culture, manage people and hold them accountable, recruit and evaluate, etc. If you think dabo is just a ‘ceo’ figurehead, wow. maybe orgeron comes close but that team played for him and he’s a guy who inspires loyalty in his team. Richt ain’t that, nor is manny.

Richt failed because he mismanaged the offensive scheme, the quarterbacks and the offensive line.

If you look at the end of his Georgia tenure, those were the same things he struggled with there.

Love coach richt and everything he did here and tried to do here. His statement on king are spot on imagine hypothetically richt had a QB of a similar caliber during his last season here?
What people fail to realize, whenever coach richt has a qb, his offenses thrive but more importantly, his qb's are able to, for the most part, maximize their potential. With him and brad it took a lil bit for those 2 to get going, where brad messed up was, although he's a very smart young man and could pick-up things quickly, he didn't realize what coach richt was teaching him was actually better for him, so he dipped out before he should've but he left here as a champion under the guidance of coach richt, look at the year rosier had, no matter what people want to say about rosier or the limitations he had, that man balled out in 17 and is the last 10 game winning qb we've had here in now at least 16yrs.

Those who kept complaining in 18 when coach richt kept sitting perry and naming rosier the starter, I kept telling people, look, coach richt knew what he was doing, he asking Perry in game questions he should know and when it showed perry wasnt studying, he sat him down with the quickness, the crybabies in here didn't understand, and were acting like clowns as if coach richt didn't know how to build a program.

People in here started crying about him not starting jarren, coach richt knew he was dealing with a fraud committer, so he was gone dog walk em, on principle he knew he wasn't gone start jarren unless he got his head right and started putting the team first. Otherwise, bye felicia. Coach richt knew perry was his guy which is why he was harder on him cause he has the most talent even over King when it comes raw talent and just being a pure gunslinger.

2018, the year of the crybabies, coach richt was going to restore the order old skool style, than he eventually said it's not worth it when you got an inept moron and clueless a.d. to stupid to realize the program hadn't had that much success for over 12yrs until coach richt got there, and was being built up, but you got an imbecile a.d. that presided over the penn disgrace morons for almost 5yrs making excuse after excuse for those clowns but want to try now to act like he had some balls to make a suggestion to coach richt, which is why coach richt went off and told em to have a nice day.

While this season is going decent, under these circumstances that all programs have been facing, based on the Clemson game, this program is definitely not elite, however, the players that were brought in under coach richt, particularly on the defensive side of the ball definitely have the heart, our offensive guys besides scaife, gaynor, brevin and cam have not been playing with heart until they got threatened to be benched!

Coach diaz coached teams this year consistently have been playing and not quitting, that Clemson game did show that we got a lot of guys with no-quit in em. Which is why it was good seeing our guys get trevor rattled and out of character. One of the best things that happened that game was gurvan hall not starting, and carter being in there, that man was out there headhunting, I could careless he got thrown out the game, they'd tried to punish lawrence all game.

SHOUTS OUT to coach richt for rejuvenating the program, and bringing some grit back!

People consistently underestimste the talent Richt inherited. We were all sick of the Alfraud era, but it’s not true they left richt a bad roster.

On D, he inherited RJ, Norton, C. Thomas, J. Jackson, Corn Elder, Rayshawn, Jaquan, Redwine, M. Jackson, Shaq, Pinkney, AQM, Grace, J. Carter, G. Willis and Tool Chest Trent

On O, he inhered Kaaya, Coley, Njoku, Herndon, Isidora, Berrios, Walton, Homer, Dobard, Rosier, Yearby, Gus Edwards, Darling, McDermott, St. Louis, Cager

On ST, he inherited Vogel, Badgley

Richt was supposed to be the ‘qb whisperer” and he couldn’t sign a qb better than rosier in his 3 years.

Richt inherited a functioning kicking game and left it in a shambles.

D’Eriq King is extremely INTELLIGENT!

this has been understated and underreported, I’ve only seen or heard this stated once or twice at the very most. Herbstreit said it if I’m not mistaken.
D’Eriq is cerebral and a student of the game as well.
