Quick note on wr’s

Colbie -- Flashed then got injured, currently a GT AA
Restrepo -- Flashed then got insured, currently a GT AA
Brashard -- Actual tape where we see what he can do. Super inconsistent.
Harrell -- Legit ACC production while at Louisville, PROVEN game breaking skills.
Everyone else is a projection

The best thing about our WR group is the depth of competition. Colbie and Restrepo are almost certainly going to be mainstays provided they stay healthy. I still think Harrell, not the Juco kid, beats out George for the other starting spot. And Ray Ray, Brashard and Robby are all going to rotate in a lot. especially the first two. I don't really see a large snap count for Horton (this year) or Ladson (ever), tbh.
Harrell flashed at Louisville and then played 6 games and caught two passes at Alabama. He has 22 career receptions in four seasons. Restrepo caught 21 passes last year alone.

Harrell showed big play ability (on 18 catches) during one season at Louisville but I'm not depending on a guy who's been injured and/or ineffective for most of his career to be anything more than an occasional big play threat. He's a nice extra piece to have but he's the least consistent guy of anyone who's actually played so far.

Of all the WRs George has the most upside
I think. Hard to predict how that turns out, but crossing my fingers the light comes on for him.

Seems reasonable. Room is a question mark until proven. All rooms are. The potential is there. Let’s hope we maximize and develop it.

ITU did a video predicting Miami’s top 6 WRs

Lake started out with what he thinks Miami will do. In order he said top 4 is Colbie, X, Tyler Harrell, and Jacolby George. 5-6 is B. Smith and Horton. He said it seems Horton has more momentum going into camp over Ladson.

Stock believes Nathaniel Joseph by the end of the season will in the top 6 and believes he will be better than B. Smith. Both of them have Harrell over George. He has Ladson backing up Colbie. He likes Horton but doesn’t see him beating the other guys due to lack of experience, it’s a big jump to make.

Lake believes the clear top 3 is Colbie, X and Harrell. Both like this group better than last year. Lake believes the roles are more defined compared to last year.

TVD is a QB that always goes back to the guy(s) he trusts and works with and hangs out with. Look at how many looks Will Mallory, Charleston Rambo, and Xavier Restrepo got when TVD was in the game. Those were dudes he worked a lot with or roomed with and all were productive. Leading WRs are going to be those guys that TVD has that relationship with. You know X is going to be way up there in targets and productivity for this team. Young seemingly had that rapport with him before TVD got hurt.

I'm curious who are the other WRs putting in serious work with TVD after practice or in the mornings and putting that extra time in with him. Any new faces?

Same. For the sake of sanity, most fans would do better to think of him as a Lousiville transfer rather than an Alabama guy.

Hey Cribby,
Opa Locka stands up
This is just a given, the offense and those wideout body languages were just comical last season.
Oh, the Offense Coach and WR Coach were one in the same go figure. LOL Gattis sux
Kevin Beard is 100X better-receiving coach than that Troll.

He has to prove that...as bad as Gattis was as out OC...He coached (4) All-American WR's at 3 different schools, and had an All-Conference WR at every stop.

who was the WR coach last year?

maybe with a real WR coach, they will do better than last year.

In a separate video, Stock raved about Ray Ray work ethic. Saying during the summer, he was leading the charge with upperclassmen to put in work on the jugs. Averaging 1500-1600 catches on the jugs machine per week, sometimes getting over 2k.

If he's putting this extra work in on the jugs, he's probably doing it with TVD also.

I'd go Colbie based on some of the crazy things he casually did last year but I'm also crazy high on the version of Jacolby that puts it all together so I'm with you.

he lowkey had started to do that about mid szn im hoping he can just do the same.

A 30 catch , 3+ td szn would be really good this year. **** he had 27 catches last szn...from MTSU to Duke he was good.

He did come on in that 3 game stretch during VT, Duke and UNC I believe. By midseason I think defenses starting sitting back because we were running nothing but mesh, but that gave a cushion to Ladson and I think it was UNC where Ladson would just run a simple two step slant, use his body, box out the defender and he would make the catch and get his first contact at about the 7 yard mark, if he was able to slip a tackle or fall forward he was basically averaging 10-11 yards per catch. However, as soon as Gattis saw something that somewhat worked, he called it to death and Ladson went back into the shadows. But If Ladson can replicate that small stretch, body some smaller DBs or someone who gives him a cushion and move the chains that would be fine.

I want to see Colbie breakout this year. I was able to catch a spring practice and maybe he was still thinking too much or was throttling down perhaps nursing some soft tissue something but idk he looked different and not in a good way. Last year dude was confident, had some surprising explosion or burst and would attack the ball. Not elite but very good and because of his height and length of his stride it would catch people off guard. That just seemed missing, and yes it is one spring practice so no need to sound the alarms but I could see Jacolby outpacing Colbie all other things equal.

If Jacolby balls it can only mean good things for the offense so I aint mad at it.

Just my two cents. I think Kirk is going to turn some heads early in camp.
meh, don't expect much early. He is behind the 8 ball with others in terms of FL heat, college, and playbook. C Young is a great example. Expect more from Harrell to start and hopefully Kirk picks things up and can contribute before we get to far into season.

Ladson is a mystery.

Is it a lack of ability or desire?

Both?

Its now or never for the lightbulb to go off in his head.

Colbie and Horton have the most upside. Big, fast, strong, etc.

George has more potential than what he's shown but I don't think his ceiling is as high as those 2. If coaches have to continue to beg him to work harder and do more on his own it's not going to matter and he'll be average (that was the word all of last year and into spring. No idea if he's changed since then - I hope he has)
