lmaoooooooooo this staff

So how do you attribute this to the staff?
You think they actually did something to make him change his mind? I get the whole "let's bash the staff schtik" that you kids are in to theses days, but seriously...

For everyone that bashes the staff, there are at least two that will rush to Al's side and point to anything to absolve the staff of guilt. Grades, handlers, shady activity, etc. If **** like this didn't happen so frequently at the DT position, there wouldn't be a need to bash the staff, but it has.

That being said, I didn't feel good from the get-go about a kid committing without having taken a visit.

Can I ask you a personal question? How old are you? When did you first start following recruiting?

On a serious note, the fact that the staff accepting his commitment "knowing this could happen" is an embarrassment to all 10 of them collecting checks from the university. Shows desperation and their lack of confidence in other DT targets. Patchen's tweet is dead on but it's the staff that allows these games to be played and the kids to run the show when and how they want. Yet we have some fans that refer to him as "The Don"

Recruit commits without visiting. People expect a decommitment. Coach says commitment is soft at best. Coaches know it is soft and likely won't stick. Site recruiting staff agrees. Recruit predictably decommits. People freak out. Use it as moment to attack staff.

Lol craziness I think this was all his family and coaches and not the staff. I said earlier that his commit was a prestige commit had nothing to do with staff and I seen this coming.

Miami was shocked that he committed when he did because they weren't on him particularly hard. They took his commitment knowing that this would probably happen at some point. I think he ends up at a lower-level SEC school.

Why in the **** did they accept? They should be tired of this by now.
This. I understand you want him but the PR hit especially because it's a DT just makes the staff look bad IMO.

Golden's so desperate for Dts he's willing to risk it.After what we saw from Golden chasing the Penn St job I don't think he cares too much about PR hits.

Honestly, why not accept it and see what happens. The PR hit would most likely happen regardless cuz the kid could very well commit and the coaches not accept it, then the kid comes out and says he decommits even though he was never really accepted. The school can't say anything so the kid could just say whatever he wanted. So I can see why golden wouldn't care about PR in a situation like this

Regardless, on to the next one

That's probably the case more often than people think. How often, I don't know. Gone are my days of spending hours on the phone calling at long distance rates talking to insiders with the scoops. Next thing you know, I'll announce that I commit and tweet it out. I'll find a picture of some black young guy and attach it to my twitter account. Half the internet will buy it. (Why a black guy? Most players these day are black, everyone knows that, not anything racist)

This kind of trick was actually pulled by one of the recruiting gurus in the '80's. Allen Wallace (SuperPrep), I think it was, created a phony prospect in the midwest, ranked him fairly high, and one of his competitors picked it up and listed the fictional prospect.

I can't remember if it was Wallace, or another one of the people engaged in the recruiting guru racket.

Point is, there's a lot of misinformation out there, about football recruiting and a lot of other stuff. I would think that a fast commit by a kid who hasn't even visited is suspect.

Wait............ so if they have an interest in him but are surprised that he committed early they shouldnt take him? What if the kid was honest and not about games?

Staff needs to keep recruiting hard and more importantly, win some ******* games. If we win, they will come.

how does the U accept an oral commit when the U can't publicly comment on unsigned prospects? legit question.

This. Lot of bumps along the way, keep fighting. Jimmy Johnson always did and he lost a ton of coveted recruits.

A real Cane commit has something to say about these so call commits...

@Scott_Patchan
If you commit to a school then you should be faithful to that school 100% ! I'm tired of hearing about kids Decommitting. Don't commit then

Dead on bro the guys that are killing the staff for this just don't understand recruting in 2014
